Highly recommended, very friendly and very welcoming first name terms as we like it ...

We were very welcomed by David when we arrived carried our bags and took us to our room ...we had birthday balloons and a card on the bed as it was our joint birthday weekend away ... was a lovely gesture of them ...view of the sea was what we asked for ...shops and beach a stone throw away would definitely return and highly recommend...met Amanda on the Saturday and just as friendly and welcoming as David ... had a breakfast on the Sunday morning and that was lovely too ...

There wasn't anything we didn't like ...overall was a gorgeous stay ..David and Amanda went above and beyond to make our stay amazing ...

Lovely accommodation in the nicest part of town and handy for all amenities. Hosts very welcoming and helpful .

Hosts were really cheery and nothing too much trouble, (eg phoned just after I booked asking if I’d like a lift from the station). It’s only a short walk so I declined but it’s nice as a solo traveller to have had the offer. Lovely clean room with sea view and well located for the harbour. (I didn’t have breakfast as I tend to have lunch rather than breakfast.). Recommend this place highly. Thank you.

Splendid

The hosts were very friendly, welcoming and helpful in advising on things to do, best places to eat and about travel around the area and excursions. The bed was Very comfortable and the room clean and nicely furnished with daily top up of condiments. Breakfast was ample and delicious, well cooked and well presented.

A nice getaway by the seaside at a great B&B hosted by a great couple. Great value for money too.

I stayed for nights in the single room with sea view. Amanda & David are great hosts. I arrived to a warm welcome and I knew I was going to have a great stay. The property is kept lovely and clean. There’s a beautiful outside area where guests can relax as well as the lounge (I didn’t use the lounge as the weather was great). The breakfast was exceptional. I’ll definitely recommend The Briars to my friends and work colleagues. To underline this review, before I checked out, I booked another stay in August, so I’ll be back! 😀

lovely, would recommend

Amanda & Dave could not be more welcoming. location was great, near the harbour. lovely back garden & sun trap. as it was our anniversary, on sunday and the bar was not open, they let us in to grab some wine glasses and we had a drink in the garden.

the shower pressure was not fantastic, but we were on the top floor

Great stay at The Briars!

Everything from start to finish was brilliant. Amanda & David were fantastic host's. Couldn't do enough for you nothing was to much trouble. Spotlessly clean throughout. Room 5 with Seaview was just lovely. Great cooked breakfast every morning. David gave lots of good advice on places to visit. Lovely garden to sit in & rekax & cute little bar for a drink in the evening. When next in Paignton would definitely stay again. Arrived as quests & left feeling like friends.

A very enjoyable holiday

The breakfast was excellent. There was a choice of cereal, fruit, yoghurt as well as a full English breakfast. The rooms were spotlessly clean and the bed was comfortable. The hotel was full but there was little noise. I recommend it as good value for money. Dave and Amanda were excellent hosts.

There were no faults with the hotel. Paignton town centre would benefit from a facelift but its location on the south coast is ideal. The beaches , especially Goodrington were ideal for families. There were toilet facilities, Sun lounger/ deckchairs or beach huts could be hired on a daily basis.

I never eat breakfast but people did say how good it is and I overheard several compliments to the hosts about the meals. I had a single room which was very spacious.

Our breakfast was delicious, David and Amanda tried to cater for everyone’s requests with always politeness and a smile. The breakfast room is welcoming and bright. They truly are amazing hosts.

Comfortable stay in friendly well located guest house,

Room 9 has a wonderful view over the bay. Everything was spotless. The owners were very friendly. Breakfast was freshly cooked and tasty. Plenty of lights in the room (often not the case in hotels) and three chairs (again, often chairs are rather lacking in other establishments). Parking is available.

Water pressure in the shower wasn’t great, perhaps because we were on the top floor. The en-suite was on the small side. But these aren’t major issues.

An excellent stay in a prome location with warm and welcoming hosts.

Breakfast was varied and always excellent. Although room was on the top floor, we had a perfect view over the bay. I'm sure this would not have been achieved on a lower floor. An ideal base to visit local attractions.

Could not find fault with anything. Any slight negative was outweighed by a positive. Room at front with traffic at peak times, view of sea front and bay just perfect.

A very pleasant stay, would definitely go there again and would recommend it!

Breakfast was cooked exactly how I requested it and there was plenty of choice and plenty of everything. Service was 10/10 and we did not have to wait for more tea or coffee etc as they were refilled quickly. Mandy and Malcolm were exceptional hosts and put you at ease immediately! A really lovely couple!

Perfect

The breakfast was superb - there was a special on every day in addition to the normal types of breakfast. Every course was served to our table. We found the personal attention was exceptional and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel was perfectly situated between the harbour and the esplanade. Malcolm & Mandy were perfect hosts and I would recommend The Briars for a perfect holiday.
