A hidden gem……

The hotel is right across from the Whangaroa harbour. I’ve never seen water quite so blue! Simply Beautiful! There is a wonderful fishing club restaurant and the food was very good! Our room was super clean and well appointed. The bed was very comfortable. Craig and Judy were extraordinary hosts. They were very welcoming and gave great ideas of what to do in the area. I would recommend this place to stay.

Judy and Craig are exceptional hosts, friendly and helpful.

As we were the only guests when we arrived we were given a free upgrade to our room. Judy was so friendly and helpful with suggestions for hikes and where to eat. After getting muddy clothes, we were given free use of the washing machine. Judy was also very keen to give us fresh home-grown produce which we cooked and enjoyed.

Perhaps the vegetable peeler needs replacing.

Location was perfect with views over the harbour and dinning and refreshments just below the property

Air conditioning would have been a plus as to unit faces the afternoon sun and temperatures get a bit on the warm side.

Excellent location overlooking the Harbour. For me what stood out is the hiking trails information in the compendium in the room. Hosts were really genuine people. Highly recommend property.

Magnificent harbour view

Very clean accommodation. Stunning views. Firm bed and pillows. Great self-catering facilities. Spacious bathroom. Short (steep) stroll to Fishing Club for dinner.

Harbour Views

The view over the harbour and marina, which was full of game- fishing boats, was exceptional. Especially in the morning with the sun illuminating the small island in the middle of the bay. No grocery store, but only a 15 minute drive to Kaeo. The Game Fishing Club, opened at 5pm and had an extensive range of food and drinks. Highly recommend the "beef nachos". The driveway to the motel was very steep, we needed to drive to the club even though it was at the base of the driveway.... Our hosts, Judy and Craig, were very informative about the district and also a very friendly couple

If you’re looking for a sparkling clean place with Kiwi flair in a stunning location, this is it!

This is a stunning location with amazing views over the bay, perfect to enjoy the sunset. Everything is spotlessly clean and Judy is an amazing host. A bonus is that the fishing club with restaurant is just a short stroll away. We highly recommend this place, it’s magical!

The location and the view. The proprietors. The gardens. Proximity to the Sport Fishing Club for meals out.

No lighter weight bedding for hot nights. Limited cooking facilities in the unit. Air conditioning would have been welcome.

Great private, peaceful location. Handy for our Whānau reunion at Te Touwai marae to bring my Mum and Aunty back for a comfortable safe sleep on a good bed :-) Judy and Craig - thank you for being great friendly hosts.

Not wanting to bring a downer to a great stay but there were a few cockroaches crawling about the little stove, sink area. Noticed at night and early morning when making a cuppa. Nothing that wasn’t fixed with a hot, soapy wipe down.

Absolutely enjoyed our stay here. Clean rooms & facilities, easy booking & check in, AMAZING views. Close i.e within walking distance to walks & eatery. Close i.e short drive or water taxi to beautiful beaches nearby. Will definitely stay here again.

Lovely location opposite the lake, manager very helpful

There are no facilities in the town, so if travelling here bring your own food for the duration of your stay. There is food to eat at yacht club opposite, which is ok, but no variety after a couple of nights
