Very basic accommodation, overpriced - only good thing was location

Location good, just out of town but very walkable. Very basic room, good shower however toilet would only flush once a day. Sometimes no water out of sink tap. Mess all in front of bungalows where building works was taking place. We paid £45 per night - massively overpriced for room but we had left it late to book.

Quite, clean, no frills.

The old lady and husband were very helpful and spoke good English which is a massive bonus. It is located 10 mins downhill to beach. Steep going back to accommodation but not a major difficulty. I paid £50 for the night. Ok value.

No safe in room. Outside area looks like a tip. Really could do with a big clean/tidy up.

It was fine. Check in was quite slow and outside of the bungalows isn't the prettiest. But comfortable enough inside.

It was close to the town and not far from the beach

It was a building site. The room wasn’t clean or cleaned. It was falling apart on the inside and the bathroom needed a good deep clean. Also the memory foam mattresses were old and worn out. I’m not happy booking.com

Lovely vacation

This is a no frills bungalow, it was clean the grandma running it with her grand daughter were very friendly. It was a little trek to the night life. Unfortunately the are building 10 new bungalows opposite so was a little noisy in the morning but hey they are only trying to increase their business just need to look through the building work but this will be finished soon and once finished will be an excellent place to stay.

Happy and old bungalows

The place is in a good location and the people who regent the bungalows are super sweet.

Like another places in koh tao the quality price is not good. The bungalow is old, super dark and doesn't have a lot of facilities. You need to pay extra to use the AC or to have drinking water

A comfortable homely stay!

The owner who greeted us, was incredibly friendly. She welcomed us with open arms and was very accommodating. We had just got off an over night ferry and she allowed us to use the facilities before we could check in so we felt refreshed for the day. She was extremely helpful throughout our stay with recommendations and also booking bikes to use around the island.

Location for ferry!! The owner is so funny and lovely- she was really accommodating and let us shower after check out as well as giving us bananas when we arrived. The room was so big and beds so comfy

Pretty good stay, if you are not an upmarket guest

The room was big enough for us. We have been two people, but got 4 beds. There was a fridge inside. Bathroom was clean and we got some soap. We like harder mattresses, so the beds were totally okay for us. Its possible to boil some water and prepare some toasted bread, but therefor you need to go to the reception.

For preparing meals and eating food you were told to sit outside the bungalow. There was an extra table prepared on the terrace. Eating outside normally is a nice thing, but there have been to many flies and mosquitoes to enjoy your meal. We weren't able to pay with credit card and we needed to deposit 500 Baht cash for our room key.

• We loved our stay at Happy Bungalow! So much so we extended a night, which was simple to do. The lovely lady who runs the place is warm, friendly, hardworking and like a grandmother to you. • It’s a good location, 15 minute walk from the dock, and 5-10 from bars and cafes / restaurants, however it’s on a main road. It’s a great spot for anyone not wanting to stay amongst the loud bars and younger area of Sairee, and is much more authentic than the main strip. Across the road is a pathway that takes you to the beach, both Mae Haad and Sairee.
