Do not recommend

Central location but didn’t like how it was down a dark alleyway

Bathrooms were outside in dark area, didn’t want to use them at night. My bunk had a concrete beam running through it causing headroom issues. The staff were very rude when I asked for my washing back. I gave it in at 5pm and was told it would be ready the next day. I asked the next day and was told 10am the following morning. At 10am I was told it still wasn’t back and the staff called me stupid for expecting it in 1 day when everywhere else on the island was 1 day or the same day. I finally got it back at 11am. I was supposed to stay for 4 nights but left after 2.

Nice Hostel but loud music decrease the night's calmness

Very good room, clean and with plenty of space. Super comfortable bed! Location - close to everything in the area (a bit too close). When checking in you get a coupon for 2 free drinks in their cafe, and when you check out you get a coupun for a whole breakfast (including drinks) so it's a real nice touch. We really liked Wai, who's really helpful and kind.

TOO close to everything - the hostel is located near the AC club which has incredibly loud music with an aweful DJ who shouts "Put your hand in the air" every 5 mins and tries to mash 'The Crazy Frog' with some dark techno. Place offers earplugs but still... Reception guys were no so receptive: they never greeted you, checked on you or even removed their eyes from the phones (except Wai!). Shower water was not really hot.

Comfortable hostel mattress, location is unbelievable and right in the heart of things. Just off an alley from the main area of Sairee Beach (you want to stay here and not close to the pier)

There was a power outage when I was there and this hostel didn’t have a backup generator so that was no power at all for the whole day (even shower water didn’t run). Other hostels/hotels did have a backup.

Lovely place for a lovely stay on Koh Tao

Cute little hostel in the heart of Sairee Beach, literally 1 minute away from the walking street. Very sociable but also quiet in the evenings in the rooms. Shower and toilet was clean and had shampoo and shower gel. Towel is included also. The receptionist was lovely and even let me store my backpack at the hostel after checking out.

Cool spot even for a couple!

We loved the location, close to the main walking street and everything we needed. Close to the postcard cafe, currency exchange, 7/11 etc. We had a few bad rain days so it was nice to have a place to relax in the air con.

Luckily we are deep sleepers so the music at night didn’t bother us. Cactus provides good quality ear plugs but understand this might be major for others.

I will be back

The hostel is well located, behind a busy street but without any noise in the room (with earplugs). The bed is comfortable, the staff is friendly. The location is perfect for those looking for a quiet spot with a little entertainment in the evening. There are diving centers nearby. Yes, I recommend it.

Unfortunately, I ended up with the worst bed in the room: downstairs, next to the front door. It was just bad luck. If this happens to you, don't worry, I survived XP (it's not a hostel party, it's quiet most of the time).

would absolutely recommend to solo and group travellers, really calm and friendly, great value for money.

the location is great, the hostel is curated with guests in mind which makes it really sweet and comfortable. the staff are awesome and happy to accomodate to all of your needs. also there is staff in the common area all day and late into the night if you need something. because it is a small hostel it creates a really awesome vibe and all of the guests that were there at the same time were super nice and friendly.

the bathrooms, there were only two and the shower and toilet are in the same cubicle. however because the hostel is so small it’s not often that you have to wait to use.

Couldn't recommend more :) Loved it

Loved this hostel! Staff were so friendly and accommodating cannot say enough good things about them. We checked out late and left our bags in the reception area as we were not getting ferry until 9pm. They let us chill out in the hostel in the evening in the reception area and even booked a taxi for us to the ferry. Also beds were comfy - double beds and the shower area was perfect. The best of all was the location - one minute walk to the beach! We also went to the cactus cafe every day which we received 10% off in as we were staying in cactus and the food was delicious :)

Welcomed to Cactus as ‘home from home’ on Koh Tao

Cactus Boutique is a gem on Koh Tao. The welcome and kindness received by Wye and team is 10/10. The vibe here and the shared seating area is wonderful; chill in atmosphere and covered for protection from the sun (or rain!). This place is kept immaculately clean; the staff are always making sure things are kept at high standard. There is free water to refill your bottle, a shared refrigerator and kettle too. There is even a TV - not that you need it on Koh Tao. There is a 7-11 and night market close by for your cheaper food needs, as well as the many restaurants on the beachfront. The dorm rooms here are particularly special; each pod is cosy and cocoon-like. They are big too, I am tall and felt I had ample space length wise and to the side there was room for my big rucksack. Even some hotels here have beds not as comfy as the beds at Cactus - pure bliss! I used their laundry service too and it was excellent.

My only negative of my entire five night stay was that the shower and toilet is part of one cubicle. The shower itself is a double shower, so modern and impressive (rainforest shower and normal shower head). But it is inescapable that the fact it shares a cubicle with the toilet is unavoidably dirty feeling - even though the unit is cleaned throughout the day. This factor would not stop me staying at Cactus because of all of its positives, but when booking just be aware.

A stylish and relaxing escape in Koh Tao with warm hospitality and a great location.

The room was beautifully decorated with a cozy and modern design. The bed was comfortable, and the staff were super friendly and helpful throughout our stay. We also loved the peaceful atmosphere and convenient location — close to the beach and restaurants.

Our room was located next to the stairs, so it could get a bit noisy when people walked by, especially early in the morning or late at night.

Nice place but not very clean

Great location, nice rooms. The host compensate us for the problems.

We didn’t have any hot water and the host said it is like this and we shouldn’t be showering in hot water in the summer. We had a packet of gum and a soap left in the room from the guest before 😓

Nice for a short stay, not as sociable as I hoped

Big bed, plenty of space in your pod. Nice location, not too central and noisy which I really enjoyed. Staff were really friendly and helpful, even helped me bring my bag to the room. Also has a taxi rank and 7-eleven and a beach right around the corner

It's all very condensed. I wish there was more of a common area or even some games available like cards/ jenga or something to integrate travelers together. I know it's common to have the showers in the bathroom in Thailand, but there were only 2 bathrooms for everyone to share, almost every time I needed to go I was waiting for someone to come out

Amazing location with huge beds

Loved how big our pod bunks were. It was basically a double bed per person. The staff were so lovely and welcoming, always with a smile on their face. The sheets and towels were very clean. Facilities were new and modern. Air con was very good too. Location amazing just off the Main Street of Sairee.

Rooms were a bit dark and it wasn’t really social as it was a small hostel. But nice and friendly still.

Perfect location, centre sairee, 10 meters to the beach. Very comfy bed compared with most of the thai hostel I tried. The owner also own cactus cafe at the beach which is only 10meters away from the hostel. Guests can have 10% off of all food&drink, which is a great add-on. Tropical smoothie bowl and taco are super.

The rooms are super comfy and stylish design, very central location, only 10m to the beach. Their partner Cactus Cafe sits just on the beach and offers amazing coffee and brunch. Try the chicken bacon ranch wrap and tacos!

Cute hostel con muy buen ambiente

La habitación era muy grande, cama cómoda, instalaciones muy limpias y personal encantador

La ubicación es perfecta si quieres alojarte en pleno centro, pero ten en cuenta que por la noche se escucha ruido y musica. No me hubiera importado de no ser porque estaba haciendo un curso de submarinismo y necesitaba reposo por las noches.

De kamer was ruim en het bed was groot. Alles was schoon en we konden goed tv kijken vanuit ons bed. We konden zelfs een uur eerder inchecken.

De kraan bij het bad geeft geen warm water.

Heerlijk zonnige trip!

De locatie is top - enkele meters en je staat op het strand. De hostel heeft een rustige sfeer. De muziek ‘s avonds/‘s nachts van de aangrenzende cafés moet je er wel bij nemen, maar oordopjes helpen. De hosts zijn super vriendelijk.

Wundervoll

Das Hostel hatte eine perfekte Lage. Die Zimmer waren sehr sauber und großzügig. Außerdem war das Personal sehr freundliche. Es waren zwar nur zwei Toiletten, wir hatten damit aber kein Problem. Das einzige was den Aufenthalt noch perfekter gemacht hätte, wäre wenn die Toiletten noch etwas öfter gesäubert werden würden. Aber hierbei ist wichtig zu erwähnen das ich die Sauberkeit nicht bemängeln würde. Es war immer noch sehr sauber. Insgesamt ist die Unterkunft aber mehr als empfehlenswert und preislich sehr fair.
