Great place to stay near Saint Moritz with Swiss goodness

We chose this hotel because it is relatively close to the ski lifts of St. Moritz while being more reasonably priced than staying in the town itself, and we were definitely not disappointed. The hotel is lovely and full of authentic Swiss styling, featuring traditional wall hangings such as cowbells and natural wood accents throughout the property, which creates a warm alpine atmosphere. The rooms are comfortable, cozy, and well heated, making the hotel both quaint and very convenient for a ski trip. One highlight was the clean and relaxing sauna, perfect for soothing tired muscles after a full day on the slopes. Breakfast was also very enjoyable, offering a good selection of cereals, fresh fruits, sliced meats, cheeses, and other options to start the day well. The town where the hotel is located is charming in winter and ideal for a peaceful stroll. Check in and check out were quick and efficient, the WiFi worked very well, and transportation to St. Moritz was easy thanks to a very frequent bus service. Alternatively, it is only about a five minute drive to the nearest lift. Overall, this hotel offers relatively good value, comfort, and convenience for anyone planning a ski holiday in the St. Moritz area.

There is honestly nothing negative to say about this hotel, just a couple of helpful lessons we learned during our stay. The hotel offers discounted ski tickets for guests skiing in St. Moritz, and I would highly recommend taking advantage of this option if you plan to ski. The savings are noticeable compared to purchasing lift tickets directly at the lift stations. Just keep in mind that the offer is only valid for the number of nights you stay and for the number of guests booked in the room, so plan accordingly. If you are driving a two wheel drive car, it is also wise to bring snow chains in case of a heavy snowfall. The roads in the area are generally maintained very well, but a major snowstorm can still create challenging driving conditions. Being prepared will make your trip far less stressful.

Central location

I recently stayed at this hotel and had a great experience. The location was excellent, making it easy to explore the area. The breakfast was very good, offering a wide variety of fresh and delicious options. The sauna was decent—clean and well-maintained, though not particularly exceptional. Overall, a comfortable stay with good amenities. Would recommend!

However, the rooms felt quite old and in need of an update. Given the high price, even considering the high season, the overall value didn’t quite match expectations. While some aspects were enjoyable, I expected more for the cost.

Classic alpine hotel, ideal base for all the hikers and climbers

Superpleasant and forthcoming staff, great location next to the supermarket and train station, breakfast since 7:15 which is great if you want to catch early train (i.e. to Diavolezza), hotel is a part of the local Engadin travel program and offers FREE transport (rail, buses and most importantly cable cars!!!) for their guests which will help you to save a lot of money

Breakfast has only cold selection, but there is plenty to choose from, so it is not a big deal. No shampoo/shower gel available. The bath with the shower is a bit uncomfortable due to its small size.

Staff is always accommodating and responsive, makes you feel very welcome. Location is great, parking is spacious, facilities offer everything one needs for a week-end escape.

The rooms are a bit dated and the sound insulation not so great.

While visiting Engadine stay in Pontresina

Pontresina is pleasant and a much better place to stay than money magnet St Moritz. Many good restaurants were within walking distance. Did not have to use our car during our stay with the excellent free transportation system. The hotel has a good breakfast and a few free parking places.

A perfect stay at hotel Bernina.

We had a very comfortable triple room which was very big, like two adjacent rooms, a large bathroom with bathtub, a walk-in closet - unexpected! The mattresses were of excellent quality. We had dinner à la carte - dishes exceeded our expectations as well. Overall, the cozy atmosphere, and last but not least, the kindness of staff highly contributed to this great stay.
