Romantic and charming

We have chosen the hotel for a one night stay in the city of Villeroy & Boch. The castle is romantic, charming with great surroundings. We loved our room. Even if it was hot, the room was equipped with a classic ventilator that helped us circulate the air. The bathroom looked amazing (not the one with bathtub), quality materials and very clean. We ate dinner in the restaurant and the food was very good.

And the dog came too…..

We loved it suited us to the group, opulence and grandeur of an old historic building, but so relaxed and welcoming. The room and en-suite were spacious, the set out was quirky but what do you expect when putting modern things in an old building. There is no lift for ‘people’ but a small one for your bags. There was no air con in the room (but we knew that when we booked it) and there happed to be a a heatwave, so it was a ‘tad’ warm overnight, we had the window open for some air and ended up chasing bats out the room each night 😵‍💫, something to remember the place by. The breakfast was plentiful and there was an endless supply of coffee. We had the evening meal on the first night and can say the quality was great. Overall it’s not cheap, but I think the price is set right for the quality and experience of the historic grader. And the dog came too …….. he was made welcome and the grounds were excellent for a walk around early morning before the heat set in. We had our meals outside and he sat under the table. As it’s wooden floors he did do a bit of skating round but nothing more than he does at home, however a dog not used to it may be a bit spooked.

Wonderful stay in an early 20th century mansion

Check in was smooth and efficient and friendly. The hotel has wonderful early 20th century building features and interior decor, as long as you like Villeroy and Boch design. (The company owns the hotel.) Rooms are large and furnished with period style. No room numbers: each room is named after a Villeroy and Boch porcelain dish pattern. The hotel is set in a large park with expansive lawns, trees, even water ponds and fountains. And plenty of free parking.

No elevator except a tiny one for baggage only. Totally not accessible for disabled people. Not enough receptacles in the room for using or recharging electric devices. Plumbing backed up and drained slowly. Only a single set meal in the restaurant at dinner.

Nice stay around Saarschleife with a great park around it, location is fantastic and hotel itself as part of the villa complex is of course, very nice

Considering the location and setting, the low price offered by Hotel.com was suspect.

The drive up to the "Castle" was amazing. The location was amazing. The breakfast was really good.

The "Castle" was drab and not what one would expect considering who owns this place [Villeroy & Boch]. Our allocated room was about as basic as one could get, I guess the good price should have made the stay more pleasant but the drab room on the top floor, with no lift, was lacking in charm. Travelling "Third Class" is to be avoided to get a better experience. In our room we had a faulty light, we had blood stains on the bed sheets, we had NO Blind/Shutter on the one small window to reduce the light from outside as we slept [It was broken beyond repair], the Shower Head was more geriatric than me!

The location was beautifully quiet

The room had a tiny window, so it was rather hot. We had a fan, which helped. We were supposed to have a garden view, but it was the carpark. The staff weren't that friendly

Wonderful peaceful location, great views from the room. Very spacious and lovely decorated. The house has its own unique flare.The garden is also very beautiful.

Due to the planing and organising of an event, the staff were a bit stressed during the breakfast and needed a bit longer. But overall a beautiful gem und excellent place to stay.

Amazing property & great value for money!

Amazing location, amazing property, friendly staff and great food. Will definitily come back but next time in Summer as we can imagine how amazing it must look during this time of the year.

We stayed on the top floor and the floor (Wood) was extremely loud when you walked around in the room. The Wifi was also terrible, but this might have something to do with the fact that we were on the top floor of course.

A stunning location and historical house for a special moment away.

We were delighted with the queit and idylic location of the guest house: in its own park, looking back over the river towards lovely Mettlach. The guesthouse was also charming and had a real sense of history and the Belle Epoch about it. The Villeroy & Boch wares in use and on display were welcome. We had a pleasant meal in the restaurant and were very appreciative of the staff member's wine knowledge and recommendation: the 'Black Print' from Pfalz was delicious!

My only gripes were the strong smell of the cleaning products in the downstairs toilet that tend to hit you when you walk in, and can permeate the next level a bit more than they should; the winter weight of the duvet which was too hot for me (provide a lighter alternative?); and not having a self-contained bar-type space to sit by a fire and have a drink before, or after, dinner--that would have made everything just perfect. (You can sit in the entrance area outside the restaurant--it's grand but not that cozy.)

Great weekend getaway with lots to do in the area, even if off-season!

Beautiful setting, green and peaceful, nice big rooms and bathrooms, breakfast served in superb original Villeroy&Boch porcelains.

A wonderful not-real castle.

The setting is wonderful--an early 20th century industrialist's home set in a huge meadow-like park on the bank of the Saar river. The building was constructed with excellent materials: oak parquet floors. marble wainscotting. coffered wooden beam ceilings in the public rooms. All the tableware at dinner and breakfast in the formal dining rooms are excellent: not a surprise when I learned that it owned by the Villeroy & Boch company, whose factory in Mettlach makes it all!

Stairs throughout: the only tiny elevator is for freight only, though I did use it to take my heavy suitcase up to the room, and down at the end of my stay.

Unfortunately there was a wedding party going on outside the room, till 2 imn the morning, not expected for a monday. also the historicql nature of the building meant no air con and it was the middle of a heatwave

Excellent breakfast and well appointed room

A Fridge in the room with kettle. PLUS be useful to have curtains and carpet!!! Also the room was far to hot, it needs air conditioning. We are extremely fit, but climbing 3 flights of stairs with luggage would definitely be difficult for less fit people Please accept the above as constructive criticism to make the place even more attractive. In order it would be preferable to have the following: 1. Air conditioning 2. Fridge and Kettle 3. Curtains 4. Carpet 5. Lift

Great restful overnight stop

This was a real gem of a find. Beautiful Hotel building set in its own grounds with its own river frontage. Not far off the motorway so a great plvcae to stop on a drive down through Europe.
