We loved our stay at Penzion Zaka and highly recommend it to others (we have 2 teenage girls, 15 and 18). This was the third county of our Europe trip and by far our favorite. I appreciate that this side of the lake is not the touristy side. We drove to the more touristy side with the hotels and there were lots of activities to do but it just felt more western culture and what we would see in the US, there are definitely more restaurants to go to on that side though. Where the Penzion Zaka is located was beautiful, lots of people came to the beach but it wasn't too crazy. There is a trail that goes around the lake so you can walk, bike, or run and it's easy to get to another more public beach and have access to things like night kayaking. The room was spacious, the only downside was the Air Conditioner didn't quite cool down the room at the far end. We had 2 beds in the main room and then one off at the far end in about the size of a closet with a twin bed. It was fine but just got warm at the end of the room and we just happened to be visiting when it was really hot out. We ate at the restaurant on site for most of our stay and it was good enough for us. Pizza and burgers were great, buffet breakfast was good. This was a great spot for doing outdoor adventures as well. We went canyoning and the outfitter picked us up at the hotel and we went paragliding and the drive was 10 minutes from the hotel. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this location. We also drove our rental to this hotel and had on site parking that was steps from our room.

Hotels in Europe don't have screens on the windows, had it been nicer out I could see wanting to have the windows open but there are bugs and we wouldn't have wanted the room to be full of them. Fans would be nice as well, also not something we saw anywhere in Europe but being able to move air around in the room would have been great.

Penzion Zaka is in a great location on the Bled Lake, and an easy 20 min walk to the town and restaurants. Rooms large and beds comfy. Convenient car parking on site. Stunning views from the lakeside room with balcony.

It's right next to the rowing centre, so if there's an event on it is noisy. Staff didn't welcome us or provide any information. You have to seek them out for anything. The cafe on site closes after day trippers have left. A €20 taxi fare to go 2 kms each way, so expensive option for going out for dinner as there's no hotel shuttle service. Flights of stairs to carry luggage up. No elevator. Shower very small.
