Very elegant apartment in quiet street.

Poor communications with hosts. I received a message saying that my card was invalid and that I needed to update it on booking.com and click on a link to pay in advance. This sounded like exactly the sort of scam that booking.com warn about and so after checking that my card was active and had money, I told them and booking.com I would not pay via the link and tried to cancel. I received more and more unpleasant messages reminding me to pay via the link. By this time I was travelling and was using insecure wifi which made me more reluctant to use the link. When I managed to get secure wifi the server kept dropping so the payment did not go through, It was all very stressful. After multiple communications it became clear that they only take payment through their link and not via booking.com: if they had clarified this at the start and not said my card was invalid, I would not have been so suspicous and a lot of stress would have been avoided.
