Convenient location for the south west coastal path and beaches.Homely. Like staying with your maiden aunt. Friendly host who made every effort to make us feel comfortable and welcome in her home.

We booked on the spur of the moment and I don’t think our host was prepared for guests at short notice. The ‘housekeeper’ was absent. The bed sheets and towels were a little damp therefore and the bathroom really needs an extraction fan to cope with the steam/ condensation from the shower. The TV was broken (that morning), but we declined her offer to get another out of an upstairs room because we felt she is struggling a little to keep things going in general, & didn’t want to make life more difficult for her than they are. Besides which, a break from the outside-world was what we were there for. We prefer a shower cubicle to one over a bath. The shower screen needs a retaining strip at the base of the glass to stop the water cascading over the edge of the bath. The free permit parking nearby was good, but still a distance to carry luggage/ dog bed, especially at school in and out times as there is no footpath. We didn’t have access to the garden. This was an issue with letting the dog out last thing and first thing - getting dressed to take her for a pee. What ‘locals’ there might be in ‘Surrey by the sea’- especially the golfing lot were rude, inconsiderate,entitled and resentful of visitors to their personal nirvana. I suppose because second mansion-house owners have displaced the original community who obviously don’t need money from tourism.It made me feel sad because my mothers fishing and farming ancestors came from here.

Great location. Beautiful beaches. Great walks. Quiet. Lovely hotel nearby where we ate & drank several times. Will defiantly visit area again, and stay elsewhere.

Advertised as having a 'terrace' which is not true, there is a window only. Disappointing breakfast. Not even continental, as just cereal, toast / croissant & some fruit. Cleanliness concerns re kitchen / service of food. Half pot of yoghurt served without lid. Butter uncovered. Pots of jam, etc. half used ? how long opened. Breakfast served in hosts lounge area, which has an amazing sea view, but is not much use to visitors as is the hosts private room. We declined further breakfasts. When requested, milk was left in room in (not very clean) cool bag - not very appropriate in such hot weather. Unable to lock door when leaving room (very strange). Towels and bedding very tired looking. Only enough hot water to fill approx. third of bath before it ran out. Toilet and bathroom not clean - in fact whole room and en-suite in need of a VERY deep clean.
