We both loved Het Waterhof and can hardly wait to go back and stay even longer!

The property was lovely!! Fred, our host, was charming, greeting me us with a warm welcome, a tour of the site, a little history lesson and you wouldn’t believe the amazing breakfasts that he prepared and delivered to our door each morning. The apartment was immaculately clean with lovely crisp sheets - best pillow I have ever slept on and a really comfortable bed. I loved coming ‘home’ at night after a day of touring. Also must mention the shower - rain shower and regular shower both with great water pressure and endless hot water. One could see that a lot of love and attention went into providing an exceptional guest experience. I would highly recommend Het Waterhof to my friends and can’t wait to have an opportunity to stay there again.

Quiet and elegant B & B in the heart of Leiden

The location is perfect for Leiden - quiet and so close to the activities of the town centre. The breakfast was outstanding! The style and decor were elegant and I loved the trees outside the windows giving a bit of privacy but not blocking the view of the sky and old buildings.

Just a note that the shower takes a bit of time to warm up so prepare when heading out. The shower itself is great with three different options.

A fabulous base for 4 nights. Great location. Hosts very friendly. Wonderful breakfast delivered to our door each morning. Lovely comfortable spacious room.

Beautiful, comfortable stay in Leiden close to 'old town'

Excellent hosts, beautifully renovated suite on the top floor with comfortable furniture. The kitchenette and coffee in-room is great to have. Nice fresh breakfast, delivered to the room. We requested fresh fruit, yoghurt, granola, and boiled egg and it was just perfect.

The only thing we were missing were a few hooks by the front door to hang jackets and bags and a place (mat) to put shoes, and similar in the bathroom (no place to hang clothes or towels, except over the heated rack.

Lovely stay in historic property!

I had a lovely stay in this historic property. It's located on a quiet, pretty street in central Leiden, and is convenient for everything. The room itself was generously sized – there is a living room area and a bedroom. And the very nice owners deliver a delightful breakfast every morning! Perfect!

Fabulous boutique hotel and hosts!

Beautiful, large room. Very clean and comfortable bed. Excellent, tasty breakfast sourced from local market and bakery, brought to your door every morning . Also fridge and tea making facilities outside bedroom. Lovely, friendly, helpful hosts. Excellent location. Walking distance to everywhere.

Excellent stay

Fred was very welcoming and accommodating. We had the ground floor bedroom with adjoining lounge and ensuite. The room beautifully decorated and furnished in a wonderful historic building. Fred gave us a brief history which was very interesting. The property is in a lovely street in the centre and was on the whole very quiet, considering this. The breakfast served in our room was plentiful, well presented and tasty. If the six cities and towns we visited whilst in Netherlands, Leiden was our favourite. It is beautiful.

Everything about this stay was fabulous- from the history of the building to the generosity of the hosts. The breakfast was truly exceptional! And the location was very central and convenient. The room was clean, well provisioned, and beautiful. Original delft blue tiles in the entryway were stunning!

Lovely spacious suite with outstanding breakfast!

I was travelling with my adult daughter who has symptomatic celiac disease and other food allergies and intolerances, so finding a place who would take great care with food preparation was crucial. Fred was amazing at sourcing and preparing an amazing safe breakfast each day. We are early to bed and early to rise people and this quiet street was perfect. We stayed in the newly finished suite that was large and comfortable with a beautiful mix of new and antique aesthetic and character. They have done an outstanding job on the design. We absolutely loved it!

Lovely accommodation for a perfect stay in Leiden!

If I could, I would give more than 10 stars - this place is just a dream, setting new standards for B&Bs around the world! Extremely friendly and helpful hosts, super nice and clean flat with everything you need (including a modern and large bathroom, comfy bed, stable wifi) in a historic and lovingly renovated building, perfect location (right in the city center, numerous sights and restaurants nearby, yet quiet at night) and a breakfast so lovingly prepared that you'll wish you'd booked a longer stay! :) I can't recommend this B&B enough. Go there and enjoy!

Fred and Marion really are the most gracious, friendly and genuine hosts anyone could hope for. They take a lot of pride and put in all effort to make their guests as comfortable as possible. Cozy bed, safe entry and delicious breakfast. Truly outstanding history is embedded all through the building. A unique and cultivating experience.

A charming place in the center

A charming old building in the city center, in the middle of historic sights and yet a peaceful location. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is plentiful and varied. There's coffee and tea available all the time.

Since it's a very old building with single glass windows, it can feel chilly, especially in the winter months.

The Het Waterhof is located in a very old building, I found out upon arrival and Fred gave a tour and history of the building. The location is in the centre of Leiden and within walking distance of everything you need. Again a booklet has been produced by Fred and Marion with a list of recommended eateries, I attended a few and they were good. The breakfast is continental and extremely good. A very good standard of accommodation with everything you need. I would highly recommend it and will stay here again during my next trip to Leiden if it's available.

Het Waterhof is a unique bed and breakfast in a beautiful historic home with very generous hosts.

The place was very charming and incredibly well appointed. The breakfast part of the bed and breakfast was incredibly generous and we felt very much at home. Leiden was a fabulous destination - incredible food (Bree33 was outstanding) and bike hire (Bizon Bikes) meant we had a lovely time. We will be back. Thanks Fred and Marion for your generosity.

I hesitate to say how wonderful this place was, only because it will be fu

The property has a marvelously historic past, which Fred was more than happy to explain on our impromptu tour of the centuries-old house. The little suite was beautifully decorated, modern (with old world charm) and very comfortable. Breakfast was AMAZING! delivered to our door , delightfully presented, with lots of choices, and slightly different each day. The neighborhood is fabulous, smack in the middle of Mayflower Pilgrim's and young Rembrandt's surroundings. Great restaurants, not a bad walk from Centraal Station (unless you're shlepping a lot of luggage - if so, take a local bus a couple of stops or a 2 minute uber). A ton of stuff to see and do (don't leave out Rembrandt's Latin School with the portrait window!) We LOVED Leiden and didn't spend enough time there. So we'll have to go back. When we do, we look forward to staying at Het Waterhof again!

Lovely rooms in a historic building - spacious, high-ceilinged, beautifully restored. Very (big) comfy bed and smart shower room. Kitchen area with complimentary hot drinks (and a fridge) in the hallway. Our hosts (Marion and Fred) were very welcoming - also helpful and informative about the history of the building and about the city (local eateries etc). The breakfasts were delicious - very generous, varied and appetising. We had the best time! Leiden itself is delightful and we think this is the nicest B&B we have stayed in!

A great place to stay in Leiden

We had a great stay ! The B&B is ideally located in the center of Leiden (around 10 min walk from the station), perfect for enjoying the city by foot of bike. The appartmentis very cozy, and part of a historical Dutch house. Fred, the owner, was very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed during the stay. And last but not least, the breakfast was simply wonderful (Fred especially made it veggie for us) !!

Heerlijke B&B middenin Leiden!

Super centraal in Leiden! Heel gezellig binnen met eigen woonkamertje en daar achter de slaapkamer. En prima sanitair met fijne douche - mogelijkheden met 3 verschillende stralen, een toilet en wastafel. Op de gang klein keukenblok met mogelijkheid koffie / thee. De gastheer/vrouw zijn heel vriendelijk en denken graag met je mee mbt in- en uitcheck en cafe’s / restaurants in de buurt. Heerlijk ontbijt trouwens ook! Broodjes - fruit - ei - vers sap!

Eigenlijk niets helemaal prima vertoeven daar! Als ik een tip mag geven. 2 heerlijke badjassen voor als je een avond of ochtend lekker nog even op de bank wil hangen voordat je de stad in gaat, of een fluffy deken voor op de bank zou ook al goed zijn.
