Great hotel but staff need a lesson in how to be gracious hosts.

We upgraded to a Golden Tulip executive room and were very pleased with the comfort and size.

The staff was very disinterested in their guests. They were clearly not trained in hospitality and were quite surly. After travelling through Europe for 3 months, this was our last accommodation and by far the worst customer service experienced. This was in both the reception and the restaurant. It was a shame as the hotel itself was fabulous but let down by the staff.

The beds were a major disappointment. From day one, the sheets were poorly fitted and constantly bunched up for all of us. Housekeeping didn't help matters - on subsequent days, they only pulled the covers taut while leaving the sheets completely crumpled underneath. We ended up having to remake our beds every single day, struggling with sheets that were clearly too small for the mattresses. For the price we paid, this is simply unacceptable.

Location close to the train/bus station and Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC). There are restaurants around and in the hotel. Friendly staff. Delicious and varied breakfast. Clean room, bathroom and toilet. Comfortable beds and pillows. If needed, a luggage room is available upon check-out.

The hotel is far from the center, but there are still attractions within walking distance in the area that can be visited.

Too hot and noisy!

Nice enough room. Handy location.

Couldn't sleep for the noise. There are 9 traffic lanes and two bicycle paths outside. Window had to be open because there was no airco despite the description of the 'facilities' in the booking saying there was airco. Coffee pods didnt fit in machine so no coffee either. Staff no help with that. Not even an apology. Disappointing and not what we paid for.

Very friendly and welcoming.

Ideal location just 5 minutes walk from Leiden station and about 10 minutes into the centre of town. Friendly staff. Welcoming bar and restaurant. Nice big room.

Very nice hotel in excellent location.

Lucky to get large room at back of the hotel so no problems with traffic noise. Very well located for transport for the whole region. Comfortable beds and good heating in a cold, wet spell.

As Brits we would have appreciated more ‘normal’ tea bags in the room and also milk for tea not just coffee creamer. However, we realise that our tea drinking habits were not the norm in The Netherlands so used our own teabags and went out and bought milk

Nice Hotel to spend the weekend

Very nice hotel, clean room and very comfy beds. The breakfast buffet was the best, very complete! Location also very central in Leiden near by all restaurants but a bit far from the tulip fields, 40 min by bike.

Pillows were not to comfy, they were a bit to tall. The staff was very nice, but as we went to see the tulips fields when we ask, they were not very sure how to get there.

It’s close to all amenities. It’s quite comfortable although I found the pillows hard. The staff and very friendly and helpful.

Great location. The hotel was near to the train station and the bus terminal where the bus would directly take us to the Keukenhof gardens. The staff at the restaurant was kind enough to prepare a table for three although we did not make a reservation in advance.

It was very good.

The breakfast was nice. The view was good. The room was big enough. All stuff was always very helpful.

There was a continuous noise coming from the fan in the bathroom. Normally it must switch off when we switch off the light of the bathroom. On the other hand beneath of the beds was never cleaning. After ten days a pile of dust accumulated in there.

Comfortable

The check in process was very smooth and the room was much more spacious than I expected. The service was good and the room was kept in a good condition throughout my stay. I checked out early at 5.30 am but the train was only at 6.00am so the staff kindly suggested that I remain nice and warm in the lobby before making my way to the station. A very nice gesture which I very much appreciated.

Given that I do not use a radiator where I am from and it was late autumn/early winter when I stayed, I would have appreciated some information on how to use the radiator, which I found online on my own.
