A nice big old fashioned hotel

This is a lovely old hotel on the river. The breakfast is wonderful, and in a nice setting overlooking the water. The room is spacious and comfortable. There are two places to choose for evening meal.

The staff were a bit hard to find when checking in and out. The rooms on the ground floor have a balcony but this is on a busy road, so not very pleasant. It is quite far from the town centre, but there are good bus lines.

I'd stay here again with either work or with family, and look forward to it.

The patio is quite nice beside the canal, watching the boats while you have a meal is quite nice. The historic properties of the structure were integrated quite well into a modern twist. The food was very good, the bar was reasonable, the staff were very friendly and helpful (I forgot my travel adapter and they had a spare one they let me use).

The gym was too small, and very limited equipment. The weather was good so I had the option of going for a run in the surrounding neighborhood (lots of cycling so I'm assuming its safe) but could not (time challenges)

Pleasant

Classic Van der Valk hotel, a bit dated but still nice and tidy with a comfortable bed. Location is ok, food was fine. Next to a bus stop to Leiden (except when the bus is cancelled).

The main issue was that it wasn't very soundproof. We could hear people talking in other rooms via the ventilation, and the air conditioning itself was quite loud. Also, our towels were changed even though we left them hanging up, which goes against the hotels environmental claims. I should've complained at the reception, but I was in a bit of a rush to leave.

Nice location but inefficient climate control

Close to where we needed to be, and ready to reach by car. Friendly staff, neat and clean room.

Heating/AC had issues, the room was too warm and the only way to regulate the temperature read to open the window.

The restaurant was top-notch. Breakfast was amazing. The hotel staff were friendly and accommodating. Room was large, clean and comfortable!

Bathroom was a bit dated, but fully functional! The restaurant staff was unexperienced, slow in service, they did not come to our table very often. We ate dinner in the restaurant twice and twice we had this service. The double bed had single sheets which my partner and I did not like.

Excellent hotel, provided transport to the Corpus conference centre. No 43 bus brings you directly to the lovely charming town of Leiden. Staff very helpful and welcoming. Room very comfortable, really spacious,well equipped. Dinner lovely,staff very attentive. Couldn't fault. Would use again. Would recommend.

Very comfortable room with balcony. Excellent food and would visit again and recommend to others.

All went extremely well. Receptionist on arrival not very helpful but next day young lady was superb advising us on bus travel and where to make for in city. Breakfast was excellent and dinner very good. Waiting staff very attentive and helpful. Riverside location above expectations. All in all a big Thank You.

A little smile from 1st receptionist and a little more assistance. Small lift out of order for two days.

Rather be in my own bedroom!

The hotel is tired and definitely needs refurbishing. For the Money it is expensive ,I have stayed in many places a lot nicer and more up to date than this hotel. for less money.The shower was old and the cubicle very small and old. The glass doors were dirty, sorry I have a thing about windows and doors, especially doors ,it tells you a lot about a place. They were not cleaned both days and was very visible. This hotel is not central to Leiden and was advised not to walk to the city as it is alongg the motorway all the way. I do not write reviews but was very disappointed with this hotel for the money they charged.
