This home was perfect for our adult family to spend a few days over Christmas

The house was very comfortable and cozy. The added touch of a Christmas tree was fabulous as well as a bunch of treats including coffee tea and biscuits

The kitchen sink plug needs replacing. Otherwise everything was fabulous

Good location for races or York

House was nicely decorated and a short taxi or 30 minute walk into York. The bedrooms were lovely

Many of the dishes in the cupboard were not clean and had food and oil on them. There was also no oven gloves. Could have done with more seating in the lounge

Well set up home in York. Would stay again although we did have issues with kitchen hygiene

Hygiene in kitchen did not match the rest of the home. The tea pot in the cupboards had old tea in it. Grease and food remains in other utensils. It was quite dreadful actually

Excellent stay for a stay in York away from the hustle and bustle of the city

Location was very close to York Racecourse and Bishopthorpe Road You enter the house from the front into a hallway, nice lounge and into the large kitchen area with table and chairs. Double patio doors out to the seating area. Upstairs 3 bedrooms with a bathroom. Very quiet area The Co-op supermarket is nearby. The Winning Post pub on Bishopthorpe Road is well worth a visit for a meal. If you require a coffee fix try The Dark Horse again on Bishopthorpe Road.

Perfect, comfortable and peaceful

Very well located. Beautifully decorated and equipped for our stay. Such a beautiful house.

The thermostat was difficult to use. Some of the cutlery was dirty.

Lovely location and property with some tweaks needed to justify the price.

Location was good, lots of space for everyone. Host was pleasant on the phone when reporting broken sofa and glass in a drawer. Easy to obtain access to property.

No dishwasher tablets, all the crockery, glasses, cutlery were dirty. Property wasn’t clean, hairs and dirt on the kitchen table. Water pressure was great if only one bathroom was being used, but if both showers were being used and then a tap was used, the shower was reduced to a trickle. Broken glass in one bedroom drawers and the sofa leg was broken already. Freezer needed defrosting, leftover food from previous users left in freezer. No cleaning products in kitchen apart from washing up liquid. Check out time was early and no option to amend or change.

Montrose House was perfect for a group. The house itself was stunning, each bedroom was decorated well with beautiful touches. We would definitely stay here again.

Overall a great stay, lovely area and easy to get into Town.

Great location. Lovely layout . Nice seating area in the yard and good facilities.

There was nothing we didn’t like about the property. The only feedback I would give would be - there were 7 of us and whilst we were provided with a towel for showers there were only hand towels in the bathrooms it would have been preferable to have a hand towel each. When in the house we made breakfast it would have been good to have a sponge of some description to clean the pans. Also some oven clothes as we had to use a tea towel which was wet and resulted in one of our party burning their hand. Small things but would have made a difference. And lastly the checkout time of 10 is very early. 11 or 12 would have been better.

Amazing stay, highly recommend!!

Location was fantastic, house was spacious, clean, nicely decorated and the outdoor area was a sun trap! We had the best time staying here :D

Only thing was that there were no complimentary cleaning products such as antibac wipes or spray, there was also no tea towel to dry pots after washing. But that's me being picky and clean haha!

We had a wonderful time with family. Would definitely recommend this property and York in general.

Location was excellent. My husband and grandson were attending the model railway show which was held at the racecourse so it was only a few minutes walk away. We also were able to walk to the city centre, about 20 minutes away.

A stay blighted by misinformation and heavy construction at adjoining property.

The property is spacious with 4 bedrooms, one of which is on the third floor and quite self contained - ideal for an older child or relative requiring a little privacy at night. Furnishings were well coordinated to a high standard - a beautiful home. The property is close to the racecourse so a good 20-30 mins walk into the city, although you can easily pick up an Uber or local bus.

Our stay was quite exceptional as Booking.com had failed to disclose that the adjoining property was undergoing construction (commenced 2-3weeks before our stay, so before we even booked) and, therefore, our day started at 8am, having been awoken by heavy construction related noise: drilling, workmen playing music, climbing up and down scaffolding, hammering, etc The noise was ongoing throughout the day. Therefore the beautiful kitchen and outdoor seating area could not comfortably be used as there was no privacy and noise and dust. The noise was ongoing throughout the day - so we left. This minimised the hours we used the property and was therefore hugely inconvenient. Without construction, there was still a few issues: the property provided incorrect wifi information in their access information and incorrect guidance for locating the thermostat. Easily rectified, we located the box ourselves; however, an inconvenience and sloppy. Tried to call the mobile number provided for assistance but no answer. Left a message but call wasn’t returned that day. We had to clean brown gunk from shower walls. The blinds aren’t great (look good!). they let in lots of light, so if you need a dark room to sleep, the front room is pretty light from 7am, so sleep in the back. Beautiful vanity table in master bedroom - a stool would make this perfect. What could have been a great stay was just not restful at all.

A lovely, relaxing home.

The house is beautifully decorated and finished to an excellent standard. It’s close to a corner shop, a pub, a Co-op and, of course, the race course. It’s just over a comfortable mile walk to the walls of York. My family had a lovely short stay there.

Beautiful house with plenty of space!

Easy to use keysafe, lovely house!! Beautiful kitchen/diner space we used most of the time.

Complaint made to a neighbour about 1 balloon tied to the door🙄which we had to take down. Only recommendation would be a radio or speaker in the kitchen area.

Good accommodation for a group up to eight people and York is lovely to visit.

Very clean, comfortable and well equipped.

Location is about a mile out of the city centre which might be too far for some, although the river walk is very nice. It’s perfect for York races or events at the racecourse (we visited the beer festival). Also, the city tour bus stops at the end of the road, so we used it one afternoon then again the next morning. Other bus services stop nearby and Uber operates in the city so getting around isn’t a problem.
