Amazing theming and location but noisy.

The hotel theming and location was amazing 😊

We expected noise level from the nearby bars which was absolutely fine however there was a party going on til after 4 in the morning in one of the rooms upstairs, music, shouting and loud stomping all through the night, nothing we could do as there is no staff on the premises to tell so didn’t get any sleep. Very disappointing as we paid £270 for the night. Also no shower gel, bottle was completely empty.

Lovely stay in York!

The hotel has so many details that is impossible not to fall in love with the atmosphere of the place, we loved every detail, the location is just perfect!

The "room" for the kids was a bit tight, they bumped the head on the ceiling a few times...

A really unique and well located stay but the bathroom issue significantly affected the experience.

Great location right in the centre of York, everything was within walking distance which made exploring really easy. The themed room was really unique and fun, with loads of character and great attention to detail. We loved the themed clothing in the room, it really added to the overall feel.

The bathroom had a very strong, foul smell which spread into the bedroom and was impossible to ignore. It made using the bathroom really unpleasant and we avoided using the shower altogether because of it. This had a significant impact on our stay.

Disappointed

Central location

Awful bed , mattress need changing as it’s not possible to sleep keep sliding of it . Shower gel was at the very bottom of the bottle, so wasn’t enough for two people for two nihh to nights . Shower floor wasn’t clean enough, full of random hair over it . And the bonus is shouting crowd outside property from 1-4 am , no wonder they provide ear plugs. Overall not worth the money

Amazing quirky experience

It was the quaintest hotel i've ever stayed. I loved the theming. The rooms were lovely and clean, tea tray was exceptional (a little more milk would be a bonus). The beds were soooooo comfy. Excellent location in the centre of York .. Received the door codes the day before as advised. I really have nothing negative to say at all. An amazing place

The location was perfect. The quirkiness of this hotel is beyond all expectations. Super comfy four poster bed, excellent bathroom.

There was loud noise from late night revellers in the street but that is not the properties fault. They do provide ear plugs lol

Would stay again but in a different room

The room was fantastic, it was decorated so well and felt like you were in a witchy house. The location is fabulous as its next door to our favourite bar and the shambles. We will definitely be back

The shower floor was cracked which made the floor uneven, the hair dryer didnt work and the bed was extremely uncomfortable im afraid. We also got electric shocks when turning the lamps on by the beds

The character was awesome and the decore. Ammenities were good and the room had towels and showering items. The location was perfect.

The only thing was nearly £300 price tag for one night stay. I wpuld expect a weekend to charge this.

Birthday getaway

Location was perfect and the decor was wonderful. We enjoyed how it mixed that element of history and Magic in a marvellous place.

Such a cute and unique hotel, lots of features, great options of lighting in the room to create a lovely relaxed cosy atmosphere. Could not get a better location, right in the centre. The room was immaculately clean, good heating with room and under floor options. Nice smellies for the shower. An automatic low light for the bathroom, so in the night you didn't have to fumble and didn't blind yourself or the other person in the room. Nice touch. We had such a fun night in York, and I think the hotel and room just brought the energy into that Also, Yorkshire tea bags 😄

The only thing extra I would have liked is a mirror near the plug sockets, so when we are using our hair straighteners, we can see what we're doing, this is often an oversight in hotels.

It’s so magical and unique, really fits the vibes of York and was such a fun experience. The location is perfect too being right in the shambles.

Great theme haunted hotel

The theming, I loved the theme of the room Great location

Upon checking in our room code would not work. So we had to ring the emergency number which took 15 minutes or longer to get through to someone which they had eventually given me a code so I could enter the room but why send me a code that didn’t work if it was late at night and nobody was answering you’d be screwed! The same thing happened to the ppl next room to us. There is a pub next door that plays music till early hours of the morning so if your a light sleeper you won’t get any sleep especially if your on the ground floor room This hotel is haunted! My sister heard knocks on the wardrobe and I felt something touch my leg but that might just be us being suspicious lol

Great location and unique experience, loved the themes. Next to some great bar areas and tourist spots to keep in with the vibes. Although no parking near by it’s close enough to parking and public transport.

Loved my stay however likely wouldn’t stay again. Simply because I’ve done it, and overall the beds were not comfortable, rooms were too small as expected for one night is manageable. I assumed it would be more family orientated due to the theme however in the middle of the night it was very noisy with people coming in and out the rooms early hours from drinking, with it being so small you could hear a lot. It’s also next to a pub downstairs which is also loud. Not too loud and ear plugs are provided. The room we stayed in was too hot, it was so uncomfortable. We had a fan which was great and helped! However not good for those who might have allergies. It was not very clean with dust all over and with all the books made it worse. There was a fair few spiders and cobwebs on the walls. You could see the dust constantly in the air.
