About this house rental

This beautifully restored Victorian townhouse with it’s fine period features is set in the heart of York. The famous York Minster is a 2 minute walk away along with a selection of fine restaurants, designer / gift shops and pubs within a few metres.

Nearby Millers Yard (10metres) is a centre for positive living, offering treatment rooms for health and beauty and complementary therapies. High Heels can easily be worn at Minster Bells as the bars/restaurants are on your doorstep. In fact the house is closer to town than the actual car parks. Minster Bells is also ideal for family holidays, it is close to the art gallery, the National Railway Museum transfer terminal, Theatre Royal and Bootham Bar (with access to the walled walk). Bootham Bar leads you into the famous narrow cobbled streets full of a quirky mix of curio shops and cafes with street entertainers, the Shambles, museums, the Yorvik Viking centre and so much more within a short distance.

We had a wonderful stay at 33 Gillygate! The location was perfect — close to mention nearby attractions making it easy to explore the area. The house was exactly as described: clean, cozy, and well-equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Janet was an excellent host — very responsive, friendly, and helpful with local tips and recommendations. Check-in and check-out were smooth and hassle-free.

This was an excellent stay and the location is unbeatable. Janet was excellent and you can’t beat a basket of goodies when you arrive. Coming in late and having a few thing’s waiting for you like pop bread and milk is precious. Janet we will definitely be back the next time we come. Thank you for everything you did.

Beautiful building in a perfect location. Very spacious for a large group-even with 9 of us it was ample big enough. Plenty of car parking, local shop, pubs and food nearby. Host friendly and responsive. Would recommend.

Excellent property and location. Comfortable, warm and well equipped. Access to the property both back and front and to the bedrooms involved a lot of stairs of which we were aware of. Fortunately we are a fairly physically fit party of senior ladies who are not challenged by stairs. Highly recommend .

Great location with parking for 2 cars. Short walk to the Minster and other attractions. Large kitchen table ideal for the entire group to use together and the kitchen has everything that is required though is a little cramped. Mattresses were ok but could do with replacing. Light in main bathroom is poor.

Great location with the Minster just round the corner which proved a great landmark to get your bearings from. A real bonus having the space for two vehicles which proved extra useful when came to unpacking the cars as the street was very busy. The downstairs space was fine as we were rarely all in the house together. The property was chosen for its number of bedrooms, location and parking. All the guests (8) said they would stay there again. Only downside was that the street could be very noisy so perhaps anyone that isn't used to too much noise at night should choose a room at the back of the house.

The owner of the property was extremely helpful and happy to help if/when needed. The property is in reasonable order but would benefit from a refresh in terms of decor, fixtures and fittings eg improve lighting in 1st floor bathroom, install power shower to compensate for poor water pressure. Being able to park securely was a major bonus.

It was great to be near so many places we wanted to visit and plenty of local information was available at the house. We were very comfy and didn't need to argue about which bedroom to have! Everything you'd need for a break has been thought about in great detail and provided. Quick reply from owner when needed. The main road is quite noisy so take earplugs- this wouldn't put me off staying there again.

Lovely, spacious townhouse with excellent city centre location and parking. Thoughtful provisions, including books, dvds and games. Everything you could want is within walking distance (museums, shops, restaurants and the theatre). A little bit noisy with traffic to the front of the house and deliveries first thing in the morning at the rear, but that's not unexpected for such a central property. Would definitely stay again.
