Needs a proper clean and upgrade.

Central location.

It’s advertised as a luxury flat. It certainly wasn’t luxury. I’d say 3 star at absolute best. Maybe I didn’t acknowledge or realise the issue with access but cars can only get there after 5pm and before 10am so it’s a bit of a palava getting in then driving to park 10 mins away. The flat had clearly been done up nicely once upon a time, but is now very well used and just plain grubby. The kitchen equipment was dirty and awful - pans were disgusting. Dishwasher doesn’t really clean properly. The carpets are filthy. One of the showers doesn’t really get hot. Bedding feels old and a bit grubby. Kitchen fittings falling apart. Front door lock feels pretty flakey. Fire place left with 2 bits of wood in, but no working lighter and no fire lighters. The apartment dis the job and we were only there for 2 nights but it certainly isn’t as advertised. It needs a proper clean, re-paint, new bedding or at least to alter its advertising.

Location and amenities were great. The local nightclub was our only negative.

The proximity to the shambles and the Christmas markets was unbeatable! We loved how we could just simply step outside the front door and everything was a within five minute walk. This place had everything we needed to cook for ourselves and be comfortable (including a combined clothes washer/ dryer). Lovely and warm with a retro fitted 2nd glaze over the windows. Comfortable beds, lots of bedrooms and lots of bathrooms for our family of 5 to choose from. Free Wi-Fi and access to Netflix was fantastic

It would be very important to note that this is not a ground floor dwelling. So suitcases must be carted up the stairs to the 1st floor apartment. Earplugs are essential! While the location was fantastic for exploring the town,- unfortunately there was a nightclub nearby that went through till 3 am most mornings. Also delivery vans would come from 7:30 am to deliver things to the local shops which was very noisy. Given that it was Christmas time they were many many fairy lights out and about -which is wonderful when you’re out walking - but not so good when you’re trying to sleep. So pack an eye mask.

Perfect central location, very comfortable place to stay for a few days in York.

Amazing location in the heart of York! Lovely and warm, comfortable spacious rooms (all with en suite shower rooms) with incredible views of the Minster & bustling streets from the upper floor. Home from home for a festive two night break for four 4 middle aged female friends

The only thing that lets the property down is the poor state of the carpets throughout- sadly many guests obviously ignore the request to remove outdoor footwear & don't clean up after a spillage, so they are grubby. The carpets in the bedrooms have quite a few burn marks, which look like they've been caused by careless guests putting heated hairstylers on the floor. This lack of care by guests must be very frustrating to the hosts!

Clean & tidy - the apartment was spotlessly clean Extra touch - Christmas tree was placed in the living room Lovely warm & cosy - heating easily controlled and apartment temperature was fabulous Instant hot water - all showers were instantly hot running water Host attentive prior to arrival - host rang me before arriving to ensure smooth arrival Lovely comfortable beds & large soft towels Lots of space for large groups Huge sofa for all sitting together

Noise /loud music late at night from the local bars until early hours - earplugs were provided in all bedrooms Minimum supplies - some bathrooms had no hand soap Internet - a little slow when all connected Black flies- on day one of arrival the apartment had 10+ large black flies on the kitchen/ living room floor. We found some rapid fly sprays under the sink & this solved the issue Freezer - could not use as it was full of ice and needed a full defrost draws wouldn’t open Cleaning spray - no antibacterial kitchen clean spray we had to buy one Only 2 dish tabs left for 3 days which wasn’t enough for the time we were there

The property wasn’t cleaned very well. Dust on the skirtings. Bathrooms dirty,property had a problem with flies! There was a tin of fly spray so this must be an ongoing problem.

Location is the best. Perfect spot for everything you could ever want. Beds were comfy. Apartment was good.

Because of confusion with the cleaner we checked in and it wasn’t cleaned after previous users. Was just a mistake but it was gross however it was quickly rectified and the company were very kind in offering compensations. Claire from the company was wonderful. The amenities are not brilliant. No stuff left in the cupboards (basics such as sugar, milk, tea etc. as well as shower gel). It got cold in the rooms at night. Parties, streets and clubs are loud at night but earplugs provided.

A good, clean, centrally located house, close to many of York’s famous attractions and places to eat

Location was excellent. Rooms bright and clean. Beds comfortable with good bedding. Nice big fluffy towels in bathroom. Problems/queries answered quickly

Nowhere to put outdoor shoes/ coats downstairs. It would have been good to have more places to put things in the bedrooms and bathrooms, we had to put toiletries on the floor inside the showers, no shelf over the washbasin. Also no chair in the bedroom - (plenty of room for one.) Nowhere for all of us to eat a meal together when we were eating in.

Fabulous location, as advertised, in a nice unit in need of some detailed attention.

Fabulous location near what we wanted to see in York.

A few aspects showed lack of attention to maintenance detail we thought. A blocked handbasin (cleared within 24 hours in fairness), lukewarm shower water, loose cupboard doors in the kitchen and a wooden sinktop in need of re-varnishing detracted from an otherwise pretty good place. That said, it was workable and super-convenient. The welcome brochure was good regarding York features but lacked practical information about the townhouse, such as how to adjust the central heating and how to operate the (most welcome) washing machine. The bathroom in our room did not have a single shelf and nowhere to put soap while showering.

City stay in York

Very very central location, close to absolutely everything. Each room had ensuite. View of Minster from top floor bedroom. Comfy bed with good linen and towels.

Love being central, but with that comes so much noise, very loud music until 3am and people shouting in the street - however, used the earplugs kindly provided by host. Each bathroom needs a shelf and shower caddy, absolutely nowhere to put anything. Same for bedroom, could do with dressing table or small chest of draws to put stuff on. WiFi poor at times.

Amazing location

The location is amazing!!! Come out the door turn left and right into shambles market! From York station it’s a 10 mins walk Lots of cafes, restaurants and bars along the way. The property itself has history and is old with character. It’s next to the hocus pocus hotel and the quirky shops around. It’s the most perfect location to stop at!

The cleanliness of the property A few of us have allergies and the dust was coming out of the cushions on the sofa, the fireplace wasn’t cleaned properly, the sink drainage was poor in the 2 en-suites facing the main road , the water wasn’t hot in 2 of the bedroom, the front door was not safe it wasn’t secure. One of the bedrooms had a wobbly bed, there was a previous guests underpants and socks in the drawers. The property is tired and needs a deep clean for those with allergies.

Does the job in comfort, but don't expect a warm welcome.

It's comfortable and clean. The location is incredible. There is enough space and a good amount of facilities.

It does need a refresh, the electrical sockets tripped off frequently, the WiFi was unreliable and the check-in/out times are very late/early . The general tone of communication is not particularly welcoming. Lots of rules.

Great Stay!

Brilliant location. Couldn't have chosen better. In sight of The Shambles and right on Swinegate. Lots of cafes and restaurants. Near shops and pubs. Lively, on a Saturday night, bur that just added to the fun. Good secondary glazing, so this kept it reasonably quiet, and none of the group had issues with sleeping. Would use this property again!

Slight issue with drainage on a bathroom sink, but the proprty company was very responsive when we told them. They were very quick to respond, especially as it was a weekend. It didn't put us off at all and was only a minor inconvenience.

Great place for a city break.

Great situation in the city centre, comfortable, clean, secondary glazing kept outside noise to a minimum. Excellent to have en suites in every bedroom. Would definitely use it again.

Just a few small niggles, one of the showers wasn't working properly, drawer knobs loose , TV had very poor reception, could have done with non-slip mats in the showers, shelves for toiletries in the bathrooms and shelves for shower gel in the showers, washing up bowl and drainer in the kitchen . Toilet seats didn't fit properly. Otherwise lovely well appointed and situated flat.

Long weekend in York

The location was excellent central to everything although very noisy with the pubs/clubs till early am, but it was to be expected being so central. Beds were comfortable

The apartment is in need of some TLC it's not like the pictures, it's a little shabby, bathrooms on the 1st floor, windows need cleaning, carpets are pulled in places and marked, mattresses and pillows need protectors on. Instructions for the TVs, remotes in some bedrooms don't work with the TV, better fans for the hot weather.

Good location but there was six of us all disappointed we pay 812.50 and for that we should get a clean house.

Central Location

This is our 3th Time at this house and it’s gone down hill we payed 812.50 so it wasn’t cheap we won’t be going back! Walls all scuffed, Dust was thick, Showers had black mould in them scatter cushions on the bed bitty and stained, carpet in the door way coming up, Tab ends on the step going in to the house you can tell there have been they for ages as they is cob webs over them, Light at bottom of the stairs doesn’t come on till your nearly at the bottom.

The location was brilliant for visiting the York attractions which is a huge bonus. Beds were comfortable .

The Location to visit the centre of York could not be better. there is confusion in what the owners site says and what Booking .com says. They state that there are pull out tables and chairs for dining purposes and unfortunately they are missing we did query it and were informed they should be there but could not be found only one small pull out table and two fold up chairs chairs were available ,yes there were four stools at the breakfast bar in the kitchen ,There was 8 of us so no facility to dine together. Also no armchairs and only a six seater settee. Showers had some mould in them and cleaning was poor in the lounge debris under the sofa cushions and under the furniture, photos available if required. We were there at the weekend so it was busy till the early hours in the local area which we expected but the night club across the road we are sure are not operating with the legal limits of sound pollution at 3am .

The location was excellent. It was a good size and useful to have an ensuite to each bedroom. Bedding and towels clean.

No milk on arrival for tea and coffee. Wee in toilet, bins not emptied, popcorn on floor, cigarette butts on doorstep, cobwebs in hall.No mattress protectors on the beds just a thin sheet directly on mattress which we felt unhygienic. No fire extinguishers or escape ladders on top and second floor, secondary escape windowsill narrow with sheer drop. No proper soap in bathrooms, sanitizer provided. No soap or shampoo in shower or spare loo roll. Welcome pack seemed to have details for another residence talking of parking we didn't have etc.

Very poor cleanliness and maintenance fir a £400+ per night property, though great central location (noisy, so take good earplugs - the supplied ones don’t cut the sound enough when you have a window open)

Really shoddy cleanliness - food waste on the walls, grease marks around the cooker and food waste on the walls around the bin. Filthy cooker hood with cobwebs all around it, 2nd floor master bedroom en-suite with streaky walls (likely as the fan didn’t work) and cobwebs all around the walls behind the toilet. Very noisy outside, but expected that due to the location. Poor quality ear plugs provided and the bigger issue is that in the bedrooms the secondary glazing window needs to be fully opened for any air flow, then as there are no brackets to adjust how much the outer window opens, you also have to have that fully open. Creates a larger opening and more sound comes in - take good quality ear plugs. Filthy dust covered TVs in all rooms, dirty/dusty ceiling lights in the living room and kitchen. No cleaning supplies at all, so if you use the cooker or have dishes on the counter, or dirt on the floor - there is nothing to clean the place with.

The location is absolutely perfect, you could not be in a more central location. It is on the door step of the main shopping square in York and is only a short walk away from everything else. The rooms were exactly as described and very clean. The house itself is nicely decorated and has all the amenities you would need for a longer stay as well.

The apartment is on a busy corner which can get quite loud on a Friday/Saturday night especially in the bigger rooms with the windows, although I couldn't hear anything from one of the smaller bedrooms. The TVs in the bedrooms worked great with TV Coverage but it would be nice to have FreeView etc in the main room instead of just radio/DVDs.

Very central location. Easy to find and only 15 mins walk from the train station. The apartment was very clean and very comfortable, beds very comfy too. Everything you need is supplied in this accommodation.

very noisy, literally across the road from a nightclub which opens 7 days a week until 4am. the music starts about midnight and goes on until 4am. you can hear it very clearly, sleep was disturbed every night.
