I got a double upgrade into a room with a wonderful view!
Hotel interior is in need of renovation. My bathroom was already redone recently.

The central location was wonderful, allowing my 5-year-old daughter and me to do everything on foot. We enjoyed the Christmas markets and the castle. The hotel is one of the oldest in the city, and its external and internal architectural structure is splendid.
The breakfast was excellent.
Marc, the staff member who welcomed us, deserves special praise—10 out of 10. Extremely polite.
We will definitely return to Heidelberg and to the hotel.

I loved this beautiful building. So much charm and character. I was only able to book two nights and then had to book a different place. The room itself was ordinary, though good sized, but there was a bathtub in the bathroom. The breakfast was amazing with mimosas and all sorts of other dishes. The price was excellent for such a great place. I wish my whole stay in Heidelberg had been here.
Though the building and ground floor are amazing, the room was ordinary.

Good location
Person at desk said she couldn’t check us in at 2:15 manager would be there at 3:00pm. Another pair was told same thing at 2:45 and we waited. Manager did not show up at 3:00pm. Girl working eventually got someone from accounting to check us in when 3 had come and gone

This hotel is in a historic building, which made our stay so interesting and pleasant. The staff were very good, so very helpful. Because this is in a historic building some of the building is in need of updating, but that didn’t detract from its charm. The location couldn’t be better. Great value.
Could use some updating.

Located in a historic building from 1592 in the heart of Heidelberg’s Old Town, Hotel zum Ritter offers clean, comfortable rooms with free Wi-Fi, a desk, and basic amenities like a kettle and toiletries. I loved the exceptional location—just steps from the Market Square, Heiligegeistkirche, and the castle—and the staff are warm and welcoming. Breakfast is a convenient continental buffet.
Lifts didn’t work, rooms are small but comfortable.

Even though it was built in 1592, the rooms were very nice and clean.

The location, staff and the historical value of this hotel were exceptional!
I would have given higher marks were it not for the lack of air conditioning and full service restaurant. The staff were amazing people and very helpful so I give them the highest rating. They explained that the hotel will be undergoing renovations which will include the Installation of air conditioning and the re-opening of the restaurant. We were given electric fans to use at night and that really made all the difference.

Breakfast and the dining room atmosphere were excellent, and the staff were very friendly and attentive.
The interior design, furnishings and amenities clearly reflect the former grandeur of a four-star hotel from years gone by. However, there are clear signs of wear and tear throughout. On closer inspection, there is a lot of minor damage that has not been repaired, particularly in the bathrooms. It is hard not to wonder when, or indeed if, renovation work will actually take place.

Excellent location. Building was in great shape! Beautiful.
I had an outside window and the weekend night the bars below stayed open quite late. I didn’t mind it but had I been traveling with my children I may have. Nothing you can do about that!

This hotel is a gem. First, because of the house's history dating back to the 15th century - and you feel that. Second, because of the location, which cannot be better for Heidelberg.
Third, and we want to emphasize this explicitely: because of the friendliness of the frontdesk staff. The young gentleman who welcomed us on June 29th (he origninally comes from Syria, now lives in Germany since years) was a role model of a service team member. Not only he explained us everything, apologizing for not offering A/C because of the buildings protective status, he also knew so much about the history of the house and he shared many stories about it with us.
We felt super-welcome. Please, hotel management, give this man our regards, and praise him for his dedication and professionalism. This is how hospitality should be.
It was super hot these days, and the lack of air condition made the rooms quite warm. However, the stone walls made it still acceptable..

The hotel was beautiful, historic and comfortable. The staff took care of each request and need. The breakfast was delicious. If ever in Heidelberg again, we will stay here again. On top, it was dog friendly and our dog felt welcomed.
Nothing bad about it.

The location was great, right in the city center. Public parking is located close to the hotel. The hotel provides a discount for the parking. The check-in, check-out, communication with the hotel were smooth and without problems.
The room was relatively small for a family with 1 5 y.o. boy.

This property is 425 yeas old. I came to truly respect that fact and what is offered by an establishment with that kind of an enduring presence in a town like Heidelberg.
I loved the property but am not burdened by the American need to have everything conform to modern Holiday Inn perfection and a predictable environment. Some of the hallways were narrow and there were steps and stairs where you might not expect them, but that is to be expected in an ancient property that has been serving the public for 425 years.

The location is great. Right in the middle of the old city. Also, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was good.
The old building is charming but the room was not as large or nice as I expected based on the pictures.

Great location, comfortable bed, updated bathroom, nice sitting area. The breakfast was a very good traditional German breakfast with the option of made-to-order eggs.
The room was very warm and the cooling unit could not cool the room sufficiently.

Everything was perfect, we enjoyed our stay
It didn’t have anything to do with the hotel, but there was a fight outside our window on street level, keeping us awake, that’s all
