Great location and value for money

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel am Rathaus in Heidelberg. The location is excellent and easy to reach , well sign posted as well. We enjoyed breakfast at the hotel . The room size is good . The mattresses were a bit soft for our comfort. The room is clean and tidy.

The only complain from our side is the bed being soft

Okay, place to stay.

The location was good, and the room was huge, but could use some updating.

It was noisy in the morning and was very light. The curtains didn't block the light. The parking requires a little walk.

Not a good option for families with kids

Good location

The place was old and dirty (e.g. fridge and bathroom). We requested a baby bed which was unstable and dirty with residues of dirt from previous kids. The floor was crooked and on top of that, despite being with a baby and the place did not have an elevator, they gave us a room in the 4th floor and I had to carry up and then down all the stuff.

Mattress and pillows look like they were bought in the 80s and never replaced, therefore not comfortable at all. At first glance room looked clean but with closer look we could spot mold in bathroom and dirty carpet. 4 floors no elevator.

Great hotel, which we would definitely stay at again if we were in the area.

This hotel has a fantastic location - it had 3 Christmas markets within a few minutes; but was also the perfect base to visit all that Heidelberg had to offer.

We arrived well after the time we were supposed to arrive and the hotel was locked up. Fortunately, a lovely girl on a break from a local bar helped us to find the hotel where we had to pick the key up from.

In the Heart of the City

Decent breakfast. Super convenient area, in the middle of the old town. Nice beds. Comfortable room.

The only drawback is that there is no elevator. For me it is not a problem, but if someone has a difficulty climbing stairs, should take it into account.

The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is ideally located in the historic area of the Heidelberg, next to a large plaza and within walking distance of the main attractions (tram to the castle, river, main historic streets). Public parking was available, located 2 and a half blocks away and very easy to use. Breakfast was very good.

Nice place to stay

Location is excellent, breakfast is very good, everything is very clean, staff helpful and friendly.

The weather was warm, and the room was uncomfortable because of it sometimes. I know it is uncommon to have air conditioning in German hotel rooms, but a fan to circulate the air would help.

Staying in the middle of history

The location was excellent. Right in the middle of the square where plenty of restaurant and drink options are available. Perfect location. The building is like grandma's house decorated. The charm of the uneven floors and the perfect imperfections are enjoyable. When we arrived we all had a mini package of Haribo gummie bears on each of our pillows. Such a fun way to welcome guests.

In general Heidelberg is very hard to find parking. We drove a large van that was too large for the parking garage. It was nice in the morning we were able to park in the square to load our suitcases before the restaurants opened. There was also no AC available. At least we got a fan.

Beautiful Heidelberg!

The guy at the reception desk were very friendly and helpful. We immediately feel at home. Nice breakfast as well. Lovely to be in the heart of the old Town. Would love to spend 1 more night.

Main hotel introduction image is misleading

The downtown location of the hotel and nearby the castle was great.

Check-in staff seemed not to care about us. It was a very cold reception. The room was fairly old, the beds not comfortable and the main picture of the hotel is misleading. The first image of the hotel photos does not show the hotel but the Rathaus which is next to the hotel.
