A charming historic hotel with excellent dining and a perfect location. Highly recommended, especial

The hotel is in a prime location. Both the breakfast and the dinner at their on-site restaurant were absolutely delicious. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. Although the building has a long history, the rooms are well-maintained and didn't affect the quality of our stay at all.

For those driving, I recommend parking at P12. The hotel provides a partial parking discount, which is a nice little bonus to save some money.

The staff first and foremost made me want to plan come back here again soon. They were so helpful and kind. My daughter and I struggled to make it down in time for breakfast, in fact showing up with only 3 minutes left. They didn’t rush us and allowed us time to eat. The location right by the Old Bridge was perfect. It was very easy to find our way back to the hotel each time we ventured out. It was really nice having a restaurant right downstairs as well.

Wonderful Hotel

The hotel is in a perfect location. The staff were extremely nice and helpful. The room was perfect for 3 people, spacious with a table, fridge, towel warmer and complementary beverages in the room. Beds were very comfortable

Ideal for a short stay in Heidelberg, one of the best restaurants anywhere

Can’t get more perfect location, right in the heart of the historic district, close to all, restaurant one of the finest in town, staff (shout out to Dennis, awesome dude!) was the best, only minor complaint would be the tiny bathroom and foul odor whenever flushing the toilet, but everything else was outstanding. Very traditional German style hotel and restaurant.

Clean and nice hotel in a great location.

We enjoyed our stay at Hackteufel. The staff was freindly and helpful. The breakfast was very tasty and had everything we wanted. We had lunch and dinner at their restaurant. It was delicious. The location was around the corner from the Christmas market and the main shopping street. We highly recommend staying here.

Nice room and excellent location for a one night stay.

There was no onsite parking. There could have been a better description as to how to locate and acess the adjacent public parking garage. The public parking was, however, well located and the location provided great acess to the Heidlburg Castle.

Perfect old fashioned family run hotel. Great service, good location.

A lovely old character-full family run hotel in the Aldstadt (with an elevator) with a fabulous restaurant downstairs. We had dinner there twice & both times the food was delicious - good hearty German fare, no tweezer food, thank goodness. Staff were warm, welcoming & hospitable. Our standard double room was compact, clean & comfortable, great shower pressure. Great location close to restaurants, bakeries, good coffee, the Neckar River & shops. We absolutely loved it.

Great location in alt Stadt Heidelberg. Stored our bicycles during our stay and stored our luggage after check out. Interesting historical building. Good food in restaurant.

Charming, quiet comfort in the heart of old town

My expectations were high based on previous reviews—and I was still thoroughly charmed by our stay at this lovely family-run hotel. There were three of us, but the room was more than spacious enough for us and all our luggage. I especially appreciated the entry room before the main sleeping area, where we could store jackets and shoes. It also housed the bathroom door, which meant nighttime bathroom trips didn’t disturb the rest of us—unlike other triple rooms we stayed in. The beds and bedding were extremely comfortable. I had been concerned about potential street noise, but was amazed at how completely the sound disappeared once the windows were closed. The AC kept the muggy nights perfectly comfortable. The room included a small refrigerator (tucked inside the desk cabinet) and thoughtful touches like complimentary wine, water, gummy bears, and earplugs. I’m a light sleeper and didn’t even need the earplugs! We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel restaurant—both meals were delicious and absolutely worth it. The hotel is right in the heart of the old town, with the Old Bridge visible from our window. The staff were a true delight—helpful, kind, and a pleasure to interact with throughout our stay.

The terrace with our room was fantastic! The location is really good - right in the centre of the old city (Altstadt). The room was really spacious. We also had a view of the castle from the bedroom window, which was a nice extra. The staff were all very friendly and helpful - especially the guy doing the breakfasts!

Bathroom could be updated - all a bit plastic. I’ll never understand the point of this ineffective mini-fridges with no ice-making facility! Especially given the price! There were no cups in the room even though there was a kettle, which seemed a bit slack but reception gave us some immediately so not a problem.

The room was spacious, with a/c. The location is right in the centre of the city, which is a mainly pedestrian area. The food was excellent traditional fare, and the staff were all very helpful.

It was right in the middle of everything- convenient and fun. The atmosphere was really fun. Very authentic German.

Excellently situated in a picturesque street in Heidelberg's old town. The hotel exudes old-world charm and its popular restaurant is both atmospheric and 'gemutlich'. The staff are friendly and we would have no hesitation in booking again if we return to Heidelberg.

Center location for the short visit

We stayed two nights in this very clean, great location hotel, the reception staff speak perfect English and were very helpful and kind. Our room #7 is a good size with a long counter and enough closet space for clothes. The bathroom is a little tight but clean with excellent shower. Breakfast is bountiful, excellent coffee and table already set up for us in the morning, which is a nice touch for the hotel guests. This is a perfect location for walking and hiking in the surrounding areas of the old town and hills, and we would love to stay here again.

Good hotel on an ideal location.

Reception greeting were really welcoming. Rooms were spacious. Breakfast was very good. Isabel and Dennis were exceptionally helpful.

The only downside was that the attitude of the waiter and waitress in the evening restaurant.

Perfect location, good value for its price

The hotel is located in the heart of the city, and is wihin walking distance of restaurants, tourist attractions and Christmas markets. Our room faced the interior, so we didn't hear any noise from outside. The room heating was good; we didn't feel cold. Breakfast was delicious, offering a variety of options. The staff was very friendly. If you're traveling by car, you can park at P12, which is just a few minutes' walk away and the hotel offers a discount coupon for parking there.
