I loved my stay at Casa Monika! The shared kitchen was immaculate and had everything I needed including a full sized refrigerator/ freezer and I loved the French press for coffee each morning. The terrace on the top level was amazing for morning yoga and evening sunset beers. I spent most of my time up there! Monika was there to greet me at check in and was super helpful. The room was gorgeous, clean and modern. The space overall was peaceful and quiet. Thank you!

Room was clean and comfortable. Housekeeper was friendly and helpful.
Communication could be better for access to property- we were locked out of property a couple times but it was fixed pretty quickly.
Common space on top level was nice view but wasn’t kept up/clean.

I had such a relaxing time at casa Monika, it’s just a short walk away from the heart of la punta and the surf spot on the beach yet it’s peaceful, quiet and surrounded by beautiful nature. The ocean view is incredible and the space is clean aesthetically beautiful. I slept really well in the fresh aircon despite it been the hottest time of year in puerto. The host is really responsive and helped me feel right at home in puerto.
I wish I could have stayed longer!

We loved this place. We felt right at home. The checkin process is super easy, no waiting around for someone to let you into your room. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring the beaches and town. Puerto Escondido is really amazing.
The rooms are charming, clean, and thoughtfully decorated, blending local touches with comfort. We especially loved the peaceful garden area – an ideal spot to enjoy a morning coffee or relax in the evening. Monika was great. Very helpful and responsive but not
The location is also ideal – a quick walk to the beach and main strip of the Punta but far enough to be quiet and feel secluded.
If you're looking for a for a cozy chill place that feels like a home away from home, this is it. We can’t wait to come back. Thanks Monika!
How little time we had. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Great location
Unfortunately we didn’t have a great experience - we were a group of four across two rooms:
Overall I thought there was generally poor property maintenance, and despite being described as a “boutique hotel” online, when mentioning these issues to the owner on WhatsApp, we were met with “Lower your expectations, we’re more of an airbnb”. Here’s a list of the negatives experienced (mostly very forgivable in isolation but stacked up, not good).
Property maintenance: The lights didn’t work properly in one room, air con in the other room old and temperamental, tap in one of the bathroom sinks didn’t work at all, no shower gel refilled in the bathroom (both rooms empty), very dirty plunge pool - had not been filtered/chlorinated in weeks so unusable, only hand towels provided in one room and the other none.
Service: had to wait over 24hrs for towels because the cleaner only worked 11-4 and we went in then, despite leaving a sign on our door to indicate we wanted service that day.
The bins in the bathroom were only emptied once (and that was because we asked) in a five day stay, which I a country where toilet paper is not flushable was very unhygienic. We also unfortunately experienced power cuts (not unusual and experienced but the whole town when the servers come under strain from tourism) BUT we found out the hard way that this ‘hotel’ water worked off an electric pump.. would have been good to know that before waking up to use the toilet and was not mentioned in the helpful guest rules/info left in the rooms.

I loved the location. 5 minute walk to the beach every morning. And the upstairs terrace sunsets made me feel like a king.

Rooftop suite was an absolute dream!! Love love love! Open air with fans in this suite and I loved it. Bed was so comfy with a mosquito net surrounding it. The doors to the balcony open all the way and it’s gorgeous! Monika is the best!! Thank you for having me! I’ll be back asap!

The location is a bit back, but not too far so its more quiet and away from the busy main street, but easy to walk to all the main things. The view from the top floor common area is really beautiful. The host was able to give some good recommendations around a beach club and also restaurants in the area, so the recommendations were helpful and appreciated.
This is the first time I felt I needed to write an unfortunate review, but its good for other travelers.
There was just unfortunately a number of "guest-focused" things that damped our stay.
- We arrived very early and the host let us store our bags. But we came back before check-in just to grab our swimsuits and she said "Check in isn't till 3:00". Not even a hello. It was very offputting.
- We booked two rooms with A/C and were given what the host felt was an upgrade on one of the rooms, but the room didn't have A/C. This was due to another guest being ill and not able to leave, which we understand. But the attitude felt very that we need to feel grateful. The host did allow us to use a scooter for free for a day to apologize. but it was the day we arrive so we had it from 3pm on only? We thought it was for the full next day but wasn't. We were moved to an A/C room the next day though.
- The pool furniture was very dirty and not welcoming so we never used the pool area as it wasn't well kept.
- Each room was different, as my travel companion had some different results. But for my room, the lighting was so dark I could barely see even during the day. The shampoo and bodywash containers on the wall didn't work. There were gaps around the lights in the ceiling. The room just felt not fully polished.
- The host lives at the property. and I understand she needs to live her life. But we had surfing scheduled early the next day at 6am and 11:30pm I was awoken by the host in her room above with the both sliding doors open and being very loud with a guest. I went upstairs and she immediately apologized and closed the doors, but it just seems off that the noise on the small property is not from other guests but the host themselves.

Great location, withing walking distance to the beach and all the bars and restaurants. Room was very nice and clean. Staff was nice as well.
There was a weird problem with the lights in the room, they would randomly turn off in the bathroom. And the outside area could have been better maintained, the grass was a bit tall around the pool. Other than that, everything was great.

The location is great if you plan to stay in touch with the surfer community and totally disconnect. The room is well equipped, with a small kitchen, air conditioning, bathroom. be aware that the bathroom door is a sliding piece of wood; it does not physically separate the bathroom and the room.
The beach is 5-8 min walking distance, which is also nice to not have the nighttime noise.
We would have liked to have a bit more communication by the house owner, Monika. This was however was not a big deal. We share some comments hoping to be constructive:
We arrived unexpectedly early to Puerto Escondido (~10:30am). After writing through booking.com, calling directly several times with no success… we had to wait some 30 min in front of the house to ask if we could drop our stuff earlier than the checkin and have further info.
In the check-in process we had no further info other than opening us the door. We missed tips like: is there a washing machine we can use? how do we ask for the cleaning service to go in the room? (we discovered a little sign on the wall saying “yes/no” after the third day) how often does the cleaning service work? at what time? etc etc.
Also on the checkout we had to wait fro around 30 min, ready to leave, to know what the process was like (what do we do with the key? do we need to see each other personally?…).
In general we felt that the weight of the communication was on our side, and this would be fine if it was clearly stated from the beginning. This is of course considering that the price is somewhat higher than the average is similar places in the area.

Nice hotel with spacious room and comfy bed. Great roof top terrace. Very well located at walking distance to the sea and the Zicatela bars and restaurants.
We had one of the 2 rooms on ground floor which are a bit dark. Welcoming has been very cold…smiling is for free :)

The location it’s perfect. Not too far not too close to the main avenue.
Maybe it’s good some sort of rent scooter service. But all it’s perfect. It’s my 2nd time here and I def will go back again

Quiet, good room and shower. Comfortable to sleep and relax. Have a small spool to refresh.
The street is a bit dark. If you arrive at night first time, you may take time to locate the entrance & key pad.
However, I felt safe walking at night around the area/street to go out for dinners.

The room services. They didn’t go.

Nice location - the house located in a quite part of La Punta but all the restaurants and other important things are just a few minutes away.
The host was great and responsive, Monika helped us with every little thing we needed, was very quick responding to our messages and ultimately gave us plenty of useful recommendations on places and restaurants in the area.
As the house is in the last steps of construction/renovation, there are several things in the interior/exterior that have to be completed or optimised yet. Also the rooster from the nearby residential area was quite noisy during the early morning hours, but this is beyond Monika’s control. Finally, the WC/shower area doesn’t have a door, there’s just a curtain - such a setting might not be very comfortable for everyone.

Espacios buenos
Decoración me encantó
