Perfect place, apart from the cats!!

The place is idyllic, the hotel as a whole is exactly what we needed for our stay in Puerto Escondido. The cabana is great in general and if it weren’t for the cats I would have asked how much to stay there for a month.

The cavity between the ceiling of the cabana and the palm roof was a hot spot of cats in the night. This meant that for our entire two day stay we were woken up every hour or so. From loud noises and hissing and cat fighting banging shuffling stomping screaming . Not to mention the beds around the pool or maybe the towels we were given smelt of cat urine!

Great place for experiencing La Punta

Excellent location, very close to all the restaurants and bar but still remains very quiet. 1min away from the beach. Pool is small but cosy, surrounded by all the palm trees.

We booked a more “premium” room but that also meant it had an open roof, and no AC. Ended up asking to change, the staff was really nice and accommodating about that :)

The best place we've stayed on our trip in Mexico

Top marks, this place is amazing! The staff are the sweetest, most helpful people and we arrived early, so they gave us our towels and a beer and told us we could chill by the pool until the room was ready. The rooms are cosy and the pool/outdoor space was honestly so beautiful, we spent a lot of time there because it was so nice. Very peaceful and quiet even though it's a minute walk from the main strip with lots of stuff to do. I am shocked at the value, they could easily charge double and I'd be happy.

This is a peaceful, lovely refuge from the chaotic, festive scene that is Puerto. The staff are wonderful, the pool is just like in the pics - to die for! Could not recommend more highly

A really cool place at prime location with good vibes, but in need of maintenance.

The location is great, close to the beach and to many restaurants and bars. The hotel itself is very nice, with lots of plants, and some jungle-feeling. The overall atmosphere is chilled and kind.

The place is a bit run down and does need some more attention and maintenance. The kitchen area was borderline repulsive. The stove was dirty and didn't fully function. There was no decent choice of pots and pans, not even a kettle for coffee-making. It came down to a functioning fridge, which is important, but not quite enough. They provide you with potable water, which didn't taste that good.

Paradise at La Punta

Amazing location right around the corner from the beach where you can surf, tucked away enough from the busy main street. Lovely pool surrounded by lots of greenery in the shade (much appreciated as it was super hot). The staff were helpful, the bed was comfortable, and the shower was great. We loved the filter coffee in the communal kitchen too. I’d definitely stay here again!

Excellent to enjoy Puerto Escondido

Very close to La Punta beach and all the nice places. The people were very friendly and willing to help! Also nice that we could shower before going into the nightbus.

The bed was quite old and very short - but we are quite tall ;)

Great location and a nice small botique hotel.

Great location to surf beaches and easy to walk to local cafes and restaurants. Loved that the hotel is smaller so there was plenty of room around the pool to relax. Staff were awesome and very helpful in booking us a taxi for mazunte.

Bugs- reminder we are in coastal Mexico so this is likely normal. We also didn’t have any hot water the whole time. We were prepared for this by reading previous reviews but if that’s a must have then maybe don’t book here.

Cozy, clean and quiet hotel with friendly staff.

The staff is really friendly and willing to help. The facilities are small but comfortable enough. Clean place and quiet enough to be in the very tip of La Punta.

The bathroom inside the room was a little smelly. Other than that, everything was great.

Awesome

Staff were SUPER helpful with giving us details on what to do and where to go. They coordinated a turtle release excursion and airport taxi. Additionally we had trouble with the AC and the addressed it immediately. Simply wonderful stay!

Lovely and tranquil setting in the middle of vibrant La Punta!

Really beautiful location and hotel grounds. Absolutely perfect if you want to be near to the action but in a serene setting. La punta is a stone throw away and seems to be where all the travellers/parties/restaurants are so it’s a lively spot! The staff are so lovely and helpful, they helped me book taxis and gave me advice on good spots in the area.

One thing I would say is the facilities are quite basic - there was no hairdryer or extra little touches which would have made a difference. There is a communal kitchen and no bar etc which made it feel a bit more like a hostel than a hotel. Although there is a beer fridge!

I loved the view from my room and the terrace at the top floor room. The daytime staff, particularly Mateo and the cleaner were wonderful and attentive.

The night staff weren’t responsive and they didn’t give me back my ID I used as a security deposit when I left. I had to ask them to mail it back to me.

Amazing stay

Simply everything was perfect. We stayed in the suite with the private balcony and the room is much nicer in real life!! The room is clean, spacious and the bed is super comfy! The pool is bigger than on the pictures. The location is amazing, close to the beach, only 1-2 minute walk and also close to main street where are all the bars and cafes. Yet it is very quiet and relaxing. Thank you so much to the host!

Perfect and relaxing

Stayed at the 1st level room with a terrace, which looks much newer and better in person than in the pictures. The room have a very good size, air conditioning works perfectly and is neat clean. The pool of this hotel is simply delicious. It does get some sunlight, but thanks to the plants and trees around it gets it just enough so the water is fresh. You can stay on the pool the whole day without being concerned with the sun - there is no too much of direct sunlight to make it to hot, but not as little to make it cold either. It is just perfect. The staff is super friendly and supportive and the location is as good as you can get at the punta. It is close enough to the beach and restaurants that you can go on and off several times a day, but not close enough that any noise would be a disturbance. I was working remotely from the hotel and it all played out just perfect for my stay - comfortable, well located, good wifi connection, enough places to sit and work and close to co-working spaces (if needed, which in my case it was not).

There is a construction right next to the hotel. Did not disturb me at all, but for people more sensitive to noise it could be a problem. They do not work too early in the morning and neither too late in the afternoon, so no problem at all to sleep.

Exceptional

This little hotel is an absolute gem, a hidden oasis. It was exactly what I was looking for, a quiet, clean, and really beautiful place to relax. It is very close to the beach, maybe 3 mins walking distance, so you hear the waves at night. But it is also wonderful to just hang out at the pool, which is surrounded by palm trees. Very comfortable lounge beds. I also really liked that they allow only guests that stay with them. So no bringing friends to the pool, which kept everything quiet. I had to work occasionally while traveling, and this was a great place for it too. The internet is good, there are two different Wi-Fi's in case one goes down (which it never did). There is a full kitchen if one wants to cook by themselves, but it's also just a step away from all the restaurants in Punta. The rooms are cleaned every day, and the beds are really comfortable. Air conditioning is also really good, and quiet. The personnel were lovely. I really have nothing but praise for this little place. I will definitely come back.

As everywhere in Punta, there was construction going on next door. This is obviously not the fault of the hotel, but it was still very loud.

We had the best stay! Everything we were looking for.

Location is perfect, next to everything but in a quiet street. We specifically loved our room which was the one all the way at the top where we had the full floor to ourselves- the private terrace was much better than in the pictures with hammocks and couches to lounge in. The room was comfortable, no A/C but big fans were provided. The pool area is very nice, the lounge beds very comfortable, with enough shades from the umbrella. The place has lush vegetation that makes it look like a little jungle. The staff was super nice and welcoming.

Peaceful spot, close enough but not too close to the beach & restaurants

We stayed in the top floor room with the terrace and really enjoyed the space and daily breeze. The fans helped with the heat. The shared outdoor kitchen had all the cooking tools one needs and a fridge. The staff was really kind, helpful, and friendly. We loved the bonus of the two cats lounging around - Som and Capitan. The location was just right being a couple blocks from the main street and beach.

The location was amazing, right next to the beach in La punta but was still really quiet. The hotel itself was really quiet as well. Staff are really lovely. Room was spacious and the bathroom was nice.

The curtains had a huge stain on them, looked like make-up so could probably have been washed off. I think it was a bit over priced as it's lovely but it's definitely not a boutique hotel.

I was absolutely in love with Hotel Gallo del Mar. It was such a serene and relaxing stay, tucked away but right next to the main road of Punta Zicatela. The two ladies at reception were incredibly helpful and welcoming. Would recommend to anyone staying in Puerto Escondido!

The hotel is very nice and clean. The location is perfect, just around the corner from the main street with all the bars and restaurants, and from the beach. Bruno the owner was very nice and ready to help, he gave us plenty of recommendations. The atmosphere is very nice and chill. Would definitely book again when back in Puerto.
