The only redeeming quality of this glorified boutique motel is its location on the beach.
Just finished a stay 2/14-2/16 at Casa Kuaa for Valentines weekend. We had an awful experience, this is nothing more than a glorified boutique motel.
Hotel photos are from MULTIPLE years ago, the rooms are run down and need a complete remodel. The interior doors don’t close fully (at least in room 6) and the exterior doors have 6 cm gaps in them that allow cockroaches and mosquitoes in.
The stay was an absolute nightmare from the beginning.
We arrived to a room that hasn’t been cleaned, bed sheets covered in blood, body fluids and hair. Stained towels, robes, day bed and floors. Rotten fruit as a “welcome” gift. An absolute nightmare.
We raised the concerns to the hotel management to which they threw up their hands and shrugged.
Upon further protests late into my first evening at the hotel with their security staff and additional management, they provided “fresh” linens 4 separate times. Each time, the linens continued to be stained with blood or fecal matter. Finally, near midnight, the opened fresh set of sheets for us and provided clean towels.
The morning of day two, the nightmare continued. Multiple cockroaches scurried around the bathroom. Mosquitoes took over our living room (from the door gap.) The hotel had no hot water throughout the entire second day, we continued to protest with security and hotel management until late in the night.
Day 3 we woke up to the hotel continuing to have no hot water despite multiple complaints from us. The management seemed to not care.
Upon checking out, we expressed all of our complaints and they just shrugged.
For $300 USD a night, I expect much more. Run as far as you can from staying at this hotel. My pictures more than tell the horror story. Don’t make an exception just because this spot is on the beach, do yourself a favor and book elsewhere.

Very clean fresh feeling hotel in good location with 2 swimming pools and right on the beach. Pretty bedroom and modern bathroom with great shower.
Our bedroom a bit small with a smallish double bed.

Gorgeous location with mature gardens making the whole place feel like an oasis. The staff were so lovely and helpful. This place has such a quiet and relaxed vibe right on the quiet and swimmable end of the beach. Also the best playlist at the bar, the perfect chill beachy mix. The hotel cats are the absolute sweetest things!

The location is unbeatable, waking up every morning to the sound of the waves and a swim in the ocean. The staff was always available to answer any questions or meet any needs. We were looking for a place to relax, and that is exactly what we achieved, plus front-row seats to the most beautiful sunset.
Puerto Escondido is in development, so there are different construction sites around. Our bedroom was next to one, so it was hard to sleep after 8 am. This is not the hotels fault, it just is what it is in the area right now.

Beautiful location, right on the beach with 2 pools. All of the staff were amazing, very friendly, welcoming and accommodating, particularly the front of house Chanel who was personable, and very helpful. Food was great and stunning views of the beach/sunset from room.

.Proximity to the ocean: Easy access to the beach and ocean sounds enhance the overall coastal vibe.
Clean rooms: The rooms are clean and well-kept.
Incredible location: The location isfantastic for exploring Puerto Escondido.
Bar staff and cleaning was great: The bar staff provided friendly service and added to the overall experience.
Morning noise: The 6:00 AM staff arrivals are loud and can disrupt sleep, especially if you're a light sleeper.
Bar music: There is loud music at the bar throughout the day, which makes relaxing or listening to the ocean more challenging.
Pool temperature: The pool is very cold, which limits how much we could use it.
Bright rooms & lack of blackout options: The rooms get a lot of natural light, which is nice during the day, but there are no blackout blinds or heavy curtains, making it difficult to sleep in, especially with early-morning activity nearby.

The location directly at the beach but still just 2min walk from the main street is unbeatable. Nights are quiet and the mattress is very comfortable. The cocktails from the barkeepers are amazing. Especially Braulio is so lovely always having a genuine smile for the guests. He made me feel very welcome.
There is still some construction going on for a new hotel next door, but I knew that before and it didn’t bother me.

The staff were all excellent, many even spoke English. The beach was steps away. The bar and desayunos were wonderful. Housecleaning did a wonderful job. And the weather was perfect!
Due to an injury sustained just the week prior, I had difficulty climbing the stairs to my room. I didn't expect it to be changed, because the reservations would all be full. And some of the taxis had difficulty getting down the road to the hotel to pick us up and drop us off. But there were other shops and restaurants within walking distance, so that wasn't a frequent challenge for us.

Property is clean and beautiful.
During our stay the hotel was full and there was not enough electricity to power all rooms. The lights were flicking and the air conditioning was not working properly the last night causing a sleepless night as you cannot sleep with hot and high humidity weather nor use any medical equipment if needed.

The location of this hotel is fabulous as it is right on the beach. We were lucky in that the construction work mentioned here & on other sites did not affect us. I checked with the hotel beforehand regarding this and they confirmed that in our room it was not noticeable. While this was true we did hear noise from the various bars surrounding the hotel - again luckily from our room the sounds of the waves helped muffle this but I would imagine in other rooms it could be very disturbing.
However, the real letdown about this hotel is that they have let it go - curtains with holes, grey sheets & towels, murky swimming pool, stained loungers etc etc. We paid a high price due to peak season and location and were so disappointed with the room that we decided to move to another hotel. We were very happy with our decision even though we were no longer on the beach we actually enjoyed our stay a lot more and paid less than half the price for a lot more in terms of cleanliness, service and value for money.
What a shame as this place has so much potential but we got the impression that the owner is more interested in making money than providing guests with a memorable vacation experience. We are so happy that we were able to change hotels and experience true Mexican hospitality.

Casa Kuaa is a simple and clean property in a fantastic beachfront location with a small snack bar onsite. It is a nice accommodation to relax with ample pool and beach lounge chairs with pillow top covers, tables, umbrellas, and a few hammocks. No frills, but it has all that you’ll need for your stay. Note that I did not find the beach to be swimmable as the waters were very rough during my July visit with red flags posted along Zicatela beach. Not sure if this varies throughout the year.
I would return and only request an upstairs room with a private balcony. I stayed in a ground floor room that faced the adult pool which lacked an outdoor space. There was a family above with a small child and I could hear the child running across the floors all morning and the crying, so the insulation to block noise is poor.
They offer free beachfront yoga a few days each week (4 days I believe), and serve coffee in the open air lobby area in the mornings. You must pass by the hotel lobby to request beach / pool towels.
Staff wasn’t very friendly. Communication via the booking.com chat portal was hit or miss.

Amazing hotel, beautifully presented. Amazing location, right on the beach but also close to all the bars and restaurants that puerto has to offer. The staff were always really helpful. Lovely breakfast as well, reasonably priced.

Omg! I can’t say enough great things about Casa Kuaa honestly. The communication from staff prior to arrival was A+. The facility itself is absolutely gorgeous. Private pools, private balconies, and a bar on the beach. The staff here is absolutely incredible. Everyone was so so so kind. Plus, kittens running around saying hello was unreal! I would not stay anywhere else in Puerto Escondido. Breakfast and drinks at their bar was delicious as well. Thank you to Jamil and the lady’s at the bar. It was quiet, comfortable, and beautiful. 10/10 recommend to anyone going to PE.
Zero Complaints, no joke.

Fabulous location and staff were brilliant throughout our stay - we arrived early in the morning and they went out of their way to get our room ready early. There is construction nearby but it didn’t effect our stay and it is common for the area.

I am deeply concerned by the behavior of the staff and owner during our recent stay at your establishment. Their actions were completely disrespectful and crossed the line of professionalism. The safety of my family and the underage children in our group was compromised due to the staff filming and mocking them.
Despite having multiple rooms reserved for our family, we were surprised by the staff's insistence on charging extra for the children visiting their grandfather. Moreover, the children faced harassment when requesting basic amenities, and were subjected to name-calling by the staff. It was unacceptable that the staff even refused to provide essential items like toilet paper, and their confrontational approach made us feel uncomfortable.
The most distressing aspect was that we observed a clear discrepancy in how our mixed family was treated compared to other guests. The staff's discriminatory behavior targeted us in ways that were not experienced by other visitors. The situation escalated when the staff started yelling and filming us, causing further unease and insecurity.
Seeking resolution, I contacted the owner, but their response was disappointing as they berated my family instead of addressing our concerns. Upon checking out, we discovered unauthorized charges on our bill, and despite reaching out for clarification, the hotel has been unresponsive, which reflects poorly on the management's approach to handling such issues.
Regrettably, based on our experience, I cannot recommend your resort to others. There are much safer and more hospitable properties just down the street. I encourage potential guests to spare themselves the trouble and consider booking at a different resort.
