Grey Heron Townhouse

The breakfast was excellent, as were the owners/staff. the location was exactly right for us. On our arrival we were met by John, the owner who gave us detailed information about the area and facilities and showed us to our room, which was well named as it overlooked the river and there was a grey heron sitting on the riverbank. The following morning, Liz, the owner/cook showed us to our table on which there was fruit juice and a large bowl of fresh fruit each with yogurt. This was then followed by a choice of three main courses, homemade bread and jam plus croissants. Tea and coffee. The beds were very comfortable and there was a walk in/wet room shower. It was our Wedding Anniversary on the Sunday and when we came down for breakfast Liz had left a card and a little gift which was a very thoughtful act of hospitality We could not fault this location.

Having to leave. In all seriousness and this is not a complaint more of a point of information. There are no tea/coffee making facilities in the bedroom but there is a tea/coffee station in the dining room downstairs dning room for us at any time.

John & Liz were the perfect hosts! Both were very knowledgeable about the local area and plenty of guide books and maps available should you require further information. The bed was super comfy and the adjoining en suite ensured privacy. The breakfast choice was plentiful with all tastes catered for but we settled for the traditional breakfast on both occasions as there were divine! The location of the accommodation was ideal with just a short 5-10 minute walk into the town centre. We would definitely recommend staying here and will make it our go to accommodation when visiting Newcastle again! Sehr gemütliches Zimmer mit Bad in einem liebevoll restauriertes Haus mit historischem Charme. Das beste Frühstück, das wir auf unserer zweiwöchentlichen Rundreise hatten - mit leckerem selbstgebackenem Brot. Aber auch das kleinste Waschbecken im Bad, das wir auf der Reise hatten. 😉 Der Gastgeber John war super freundlich und hilfsbereit. Er hatte eine Menge Tips und Informationen über die Menschen und die Region. Wir haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt. Wenn wir nochmal in der Region sind, werden wir gern nochmal hier einchecken!
