Prestige and glore from the past century

It's a prestige hotel, but even though we had booked a normal room AND a suite, we feel that this hotel needs to be modernized. There's grandeur, staff and service are great. The hotel offers all the features and services : spa, gym, pool, vallet service, etc. The old furniture in the rooms is of course the style of the hotel, but even though it's old, it should not lack comfort and unfortunately the rooms lack comfort.

We booked a suite ( for more than 700 euro/night ). The room was spacious, but in the end it wasn't amazing. The old interior has charm, but the suite is actually like a bedroom with a separate living room. So it doesn't offer the feeling of a large suite as the bedroom-part is just like a normal hotelroom. The separate living room really needs an update. The furniture is old and classic, but unfortunately the 'old' in this case also means worn out, not comfortable anymore. The couch, the chairs offer zero comfort. There are stains on the carpet and the TV is the kind of TV you'd expect in 2005, not in 2025. Airco / Heating wasn't working amazing. The bathroom, altough it all works, isn't exactly the kind of bathroom you'd expect in a suite. Basically, the suite was : standard room + living room, and unfortunately this 'living room' has poor comfort and doesn't offer value nor grandeur. It's basically just offering worn out square meters

Good location, no view

Close to the cathedral, friendly staff

Said room with city view on booking but only had view of the back of the hotel. Our door handle kept falling off but we did report it.

Wonderful 5 stars stay😍

The property is very well located in the center, 1 min walking to the door of the train station, near the cathedral and the major Christmas markets in the area, we enjoyed our stay as wherever we go we find that the hotel is still near us specially with a child. The staff was so helpful, the reception all of them are so nice and friendly, when we checked out the bellboy walked with us with the luggage till the train station platform, And this was beyond our expectation. The cleanness and housekeeping is wonderful. The food ordered to our room was as expected a 5 stars level. We will definitely go back when in cologne

A five star hotel falling short in some areas.

Hans Stube dinner restaurant food was exceptional. Staff were unfailingly courteous.

Room- Wi-Fi didn’t work well and hotspot router provided only worked for one day. Air con didn’t work and maintenance had to be called. First floor rooms so noisy. Some staff member hoovered reception at 0420 hrs after a big reception nigh before. Hans Stube restaurant hopelessly understaffed although manager denied it. We saw two other tables get up and help themselves to wine and water. We saw a guest waving hands in the air for attention.It was 30 mins before we were given a menu and 50 minutes to get the wine list ( second time of asking). Requested Financial Times but only received it one day out of two.

One of the best breakfast lineup experienced. Very friendly staffs with professional service mindset. High quality facilities with a very high-end feel.

Shower area is very small and difficult to handle. Requested separate beds but request was not fulfilled.

I enjoyed my stay and it was a nice gateway, almost a time travel in the middle of the city

The team is very helpful and the location is great. You can experience the old time glamour inside.

The bathroom fixtures were not fully functioning. Most importantly even though the open buffet breakfast was good, hot egg orders were not consistent and not 5 star quality.

The staff know exactly what luxury is, i commend the staff and management for their service. The room was beautifully made, complimentary drinks were nice.

It is in a busy area and next to a mcdonalds, understandably so the people around can be questionable at times but the doormen do a great job in controlling the entrance

Amazing classy decor, fabulous outdoors breakfast location and choices, bathtub is definitely a plus, very spacious room. Nice sauna.

Luxurious, historic ambience right next to the Cologne Cathedral

Reviewing on behalf of my son and mother-in-law. A great, historic ambience of a luxury hotel, with views of the Cathedral. Very central, yet quiet. My son was impressed that he was offered a newspaper for the morning - what a great tradition! All very celan and pleasant. Very comfortable beds. All sort of opprotunities to explore, both within and around the hotel. Great location. Staff was very welcoming, as you would expect.

Steamroom and sauna were great, but no swimming pool. USB port charger was broken.
