Excellent Location... but that's about it!

Very Central Location: right round the corner from the majestic Cologne Cathedral and just 5 minutes walk to the Train Station. Very welcoming reception staff speaking rather outstanding English. Very Good Spacious Shower.

No porter service on arrival and had to make our way with our luggage, to the room, on our own. The Room was rather dark with low internal lighting and hardly any external natural light. We actually went for a room upgrade but we got a third floor overlooking the internal courtyard. Furnishings, though in good, functional state, look rather dated and apart from an empty minibar, a safety deposit box and an electric kettle, that was about it. Toiletries and amenities were very limited and hardly ever replenished (for example we had to ask for shower caps and a shower gel refill). Surely not the standard expected from Hilton. Same goes for the breakfast: at times it can get pretty chaotic - 8am onwards - with hardly any tables available, shortage of plates & cutlery and a long time to replenish most food (or even twice the cooking station being closed). Whilst local restaurant staff seemed stubborn, cold and unresponsive, foreign members of staff went out of their way to help out and assist at all times. And by the way, getting a hot chocolate from the bar after 9:30pm is impossible - "the machine is switched off" Again, not what you'd expect from a Hilton!

No staff to help unload your car or park your car Breakfast room isn’t very nice or well decorated. Breakfast was not complete. A lot of things were empty. When I asked for orange jus we got juice from a package of orange jus. Before we had fresh.

Poor form from an established brand. We expected better.

The Hilton Cologne is very close to the main station which is convenient if arriving by train. The room was spotless and quite comfortable and a cot for our baby was provided upon request. Room service also arrived quickly and was very satisfactory.

When we arrived there was a long queue to check in and the check in process was unnecessarily slow without an explanation. The central lobby is not especially welcoming for a hotel and arriving at a queue is not the experience we had first hoped for. The card authorization process for our stay was completely illogical and I've not encountered this type of charging before (pre authorization for a night plus 50 when booking then again when you check in which will be returned at some indeterminate time with the cost of the stay also being charged at a later date after check in). This was inconvenient and quite strange. The worst part of our stay was at night when another group unlocked our room door with their room key. Luckily I had the bolt on so they couldn't walk in (our baby was sleeping) but it was a massive security risk and could have been much worse. I had to complain to the front desk twice because our key cards did not work after that. You expect a base level of safety when you stay at any hotel, especially one as established as Hilton. You don't expect another guest to be able to unlock your door at night. We cut our stay short and went elsewhere after this.

A top level hotel for everyone

A great branded hotel with a very typical for its name convenient location and a high level of services.

It's very difficult to park a car nearly, and the ticket into a level -1 garage of the hotel cost €36 for 18 hours - a half of the room price per person! And it was not mentioned beforehand.

À/C far too noisy in the room, elevators not always responding correctly to requests, not possible to have the 2 rooms on the same floor, which means that our kids were on the 7th while we were were on the 6th

A pleasant short stay in the centre of Cologne.

The hotel is centrally located and very close to the station. We had a short time in Cologne, so we really enjoyed a short visit to the nearby Ludwig Museum, which was amazing.
