Gorgeous Villa - Takes You Back in Time

Wonderful experience at Manuel's gorgeous villa, nestled in a little town on Lago Maggiore. Walkable to restaurants and lake. We arrived JUST as the pope was being announced - was so cool to catch this with Manuel in his lovely living room space. We enjoyed the continental breakfast and getting to chat with the other guest staying that night. The gardens and grounds were so pretty, even though it was raining while we were there. Loved the original turn of the century design features in each room.

A true gem of a B&B, off the beaten track, would stay again and recommend!

Breakfast was always a plentiful choice., provided within a generous time frame 7.30am to 10.00am. Manuel was never far away for help or advice. I enjoyed practicing my Italian with regular conversations.

Transport was a bit limited. Trains ran from Calde, around 9.00am, then we had to rely on bus travel. The rail replacement buses didn't always appear, to bridge the gap until the trains resumed later on in the afternoon.

The house and the garden were very beautiful with a lovely view of Lago Maggiore. A great location on the eastern side of Lago Maggiore with four restaurants within walking distance to the property. Owner Manuel was very helpful and suggested some activities to us in the area. He also recommended some restaurants and even made a reservation to a restaurant for us. A nice continental breakfast was served in the terrace. The street that the property is on is very narrow, but there was a spacious parking area very close by. Manuel helped us to cool our piccolo wine bottles. He attended to our needs and was very friendly and welcoming.

On a hot day air conditioning would have been helpful, but the house is a lovely old villa and perhaps adding air conditioning isn't that simple. In the evening the room could be ventilated easily through windows, so the nights were nice and cool.

Fragrance sticks in the room, but for most people probably not an issue. We moved them temporarily outside, so it was no issue for us either.

Manuel is an excellent host. Keeps the premises very clean. The garden is amazingly manicured by Manuel.

Its just a personal preference. I am not used to a room without an ensuite bathroom. The external bathroom is large and well kept.

Amazing place to stay near Lago Maggiore. Manuel welcomes you and tell you about the maison and little towns in the area. Rooms are pretty, clean and mine had a great balcony with amazing view upon the lake. Felt like home!

Highly recommend!

Manuel is a humble, hard working, genuine, and incredibly accommodating host. The property is beautiful and the location can not be beat. It is only a 4 minute walk to the busses which are clean, timely and efficient which can get to ferry towns to go anywhere on the Lake. It is about 10 minutes into the beautiful lake front town of Calde. Breakfast is wonderful. The views are lovely. Overall it is a great value.

On very hot days it can be warm as there is no air conditioning. But usually the large floor to ceiling doorway to the balcony and window provide adequate cooling.

The room with beautiful panoramic view to high mountain and wonderful lake. Villa with a rich family history, rooms are exceptionally clean and tidy. Delicious breakfast overlooking the well-kept garden creates a good mood for the whole day. The owner of the villa, Manuel, is a caring, pleasant Italian, ready to help and advise on various issues.

This is one of those little gems you only come across every now and then. Spectacular view of the lake, beautiful garden and an amazing host. the rooms are basic, but clean and comfortable. The separate (but private) bathroom was beautiful too. Grazie mille Manuel!

Maybe that we could hear romantic escapades from the neighbouring room, but no insulation would have prevented this and it lasted less than 10 minutes…

Great place, definitely recommend it

It was a great experience to stay at this place. Our room had a baeutiful balcony with a nice lake view. Both the room and bathroom were very clean. In addition, I want to mention Manuel particulary. He was always very kind and helpful. He even prepared breakfasts for us when we told him we will leave very early in the morning. We definitely loved the place and his hospitality. Hope to be there again!

Stunning garden with view to the lake

The house is beautiful and furnished very tastefully, but the cherry on the cake was the garden. It is a magical piece of art we enjoyed so much. The owner, Manuel, is extremely thoughtful, hardworking and helpful with all. From having a small chat in Italian, bringing us delicious breakfast cakes, through booking COVID testing in the nearby pharmacy. The house is super well maintained, cleaned and arranged to perfection on a daily basis. Thank you for the hospitality and the kindness, it was a pleasure! Ciao for now and see you soon! 😊

Great accommodation in a very nice location. The house and garden are marvellous, so are the rooms and facilities. Manuel takes very good care of his guests and the view is awesome. Recommended!

The only thing that was missing, was a bar / minibar where one could get some wine / beer / snacks (against payment of course) since the house itself is a little isolated from other possibilities.

Wonderful stay in paradise
