Noisy room, wouldn't recommend if you want to get to bed early

Check in was easy, location was good.

Room was at the front of the hotel and right above the bar, bar was open till 12am and was very noisy, I needed to be up early for a work meeting and wanted to get to sleep early, which I wasn't able to do due to the noise. It was also very hot so I had opened the windows, which meant smoke from people smoking cigarettes below was constantly coming into the room.

A pleasant guest house, not a 4-star hotel.

Good-sized clean room (executive) and bathroom. Lift. Close to Douglas promenade.

Mereside is given 4 stars on Booking.com's listing, without clarification that this is a Guest House ranking, not a Hotel ranking. That only becomes apparent when you arrive and see the plaque beside the front door. As a guest house it's good, but it definitely isn't a 4-star hotel. The listing also gives "free parking" as one of the facilities, but doesn't make it clear that this is street parking, often involving walking up and down steep hills. Mereside does not have a car park.

Ok, but could be better

The position, was very close to the city centre.

The room wasn’t clean. I found my 15-month-old daughter’s hands and feet covered in white hairs—she loves spending time on the floor. I asked the staff to clean the room, which they did promptly. I also noticed a white powder, possibly sugar, on top of the bedside table. On our first night dining at the hotel, the meal I ordered for my daughter was frozen in the middle. I asked for it to be warmed up, and they responded quickly. While I appreciate the staff’s promptness, I don’t believe these issues should have occurred in the first place.

Wouldn't stay again as too many small negatives

Location was good, terrible parking and guests should be advised of this before hand , velux windows not open and was really too warm especially as at the top of the building, it made it really not comfortable or pleasant to sleep in

Young staff were ignorant and rude, it felt like we were a hindrance, wouldn't even smile or speak! the chef was friendly and approachable as he came to clear the tables, as we work in customer service I would advise serious training but thank goodness for the chef!!

Mereside.

Good selection of Breakfast but had to wait for some to be replenished.

Room Not 100% clean. Dusty at top of units & wardrobe. Not enough milk in room. Friends booked same hotel & put in another room close by. Had to come up every morning for breakfast. We had a meal together the 1st night and the food wasn't to many of our parties liking unfortunately. Steak very tough, some Mussels weren't open & the burger was a little too soft

Disappointing. Poor value even with "upgrade" to flat. Can't understand how property given 8 rating

We were given an apartment instead of an "Executive" room. Seemed like an upgrade BUT......... see below.

The apartment was in the basement. Gloomy, lots of essentials missing, worn, badly in need of updating, cold at times even in July and not well-serviced.(Someone came in every day to re-stock tea/coffee etc but no cleaning done). Depressing! No toilet brush and toilet not cleaned, no plug in bathroom sink, no oven gloves or towel in kitchen, dirty cooker, outside depressing, dirty and unkempt, no provision of cleaning materials (dishwasher tablets, toilet cleaner, kithen sink dish cloth) so even if you wanted to clean things properly you couldn't. No complimentary biscuits or extras which I would have expected for the booking price. Poor continental selection at breakfast. The buffet breakfast was ok except that at 9am items (bacon, eggs, black pudding) were not warm. Bread and coffee the cheapest.

Amazing place - really made our weekend great thank you!

Great location, just one street behind promenade with less than 10 mins walk to marina. Modern, clean and well kept. Beds were comfortable and rooms were spacious and each designed differently but gorgeous! Breakfast was amazing and so were the cocktails. Staff couldn’t do any more for you and were always friendly and chatty and recommending places/tips for our stay. Room 111 on top floor was definitely the best there - view was unbelievable. Would thoroughly recommend to others and will stay here again in the future whenever we next come to the Isle of Man! Thank you!

Comfortable, restful enjoyable stay.

Huge bedroom and large modern ensuite bathroom. Lift to all floors. Friendly staff. good choice of breakfast. Particularly enjoyed the kippers and cooked breakfasts and the two evening meals we had. Very quiet and restful. Free parking.

Tricky finding somewhere to park on the street nearby when arriving late. Shower door opened directly onto heated towel rail. Needs more light (extra table lamp) near coffee/tea making area. Limited menu for evening meals.

Excellent small hotel quietly situated but very close to the promenade

Nice large room with King size bed. Plenty of light and very clean bathroom. Side view of the sea (just! :)). Excellent freshly cooked hot breakfast. Terrace at the front of the accommodation for a quiet drink.
