Glenville House - Adults Only - Incl FREE off-site health club with swimming pool, hot tub, sauna & steam room

The property was easy to self-check into; all the information sent via email was comprehensive and clear. The guesthouse is located nicely between Bowness-on-Windermere and Windermere - a short walk away from each. We had no issues with parking upon arrival as it was empty. The room had a lovely layout and was cosy. There is a small fridge which was useful but was a little noisy at night. There is also a kettle but no way to get water except for the bathroom so I’d bring some bottled water. Clean bedding and towels.

The check-in (16:00) and check out (10:00) times are justified by the need to clean the room, however, I would expect the room to be much cleaner than it was considering the small size (there was quite a bit of dust). We were on the 3rd floor which was quite tricky to carry luggage up to. All through the building and in the room the plug-in air fresheners were incredibly strong; strong enough that you can taste it. We had to unplug it in the room and keep the windows wide open for a while to air it out. Our bathroom had an over sink wall light that seemed to be broken and really hard to turn off. The door also would not close; it seemed like the paint made it too thick for the frame. It may have closed with some real force but we were afraid that it would not open again without some real force either. No hand soap but provided shampoo, conditioner and body wash. There was no floor mat in the bathroom so we had to be really careful not to slip when leaving the shower.

Clean and quiet and good location

The property is spacious. It is close to the bowness pier but kind of away from all the traffic that makes it ideal for a quaint place to stay. It has beautiful view of garden. The staff is very courteous and extremely accommodating and helpful. I highly recommend breakfast that Ian serves it’s 100/10!

The only complaint I can have is there was no handwash in the bathroom , there was a bodywash instead. Not an inconvenience at all but something to improve on.

The property was well situated between Windermere and Bowness with a quick walk between towns.

Initially we were placed in room 5. Upon arrival we noted there was a large bulging area of damp in the corner of the ceiling. I was surprised this room was available for occupancy given the health risk posed by it. We were moved to another room after contacting the manager. I offered to send photos to raise the problem however the manager did not seem to be bothered.
