Eigetsu

A nice, convenient little house in traditional Japanese stlye, good for 2 people, a few minutes walking from Gion. Could have been truly a couple of notches better if for a few negative points (below). However, on the positive side: (1) good location vis-a-vis our 3-day planning (mostly involving temples and shrines) (2) reasonably private (3) comfortable beds (4) nice decor (most specifically, on the upper floor where the bedroom and the ante-bedroom was).

(1) the living room downstars is pretty bare, more decorative elements and maybe a drawer and better lightening would have helped (2) room for luggage is very limited, and (somewhat already seen in other house rentals in Japan) most of the wardrobe was either unavailable or filled with spare blankets etc.) (3) shower room noticeably smelling of mold (4) kitchen equipment was ok, but not fully adequate to a cook-your-own-food stay (which is what you expect when renting a house vs a hotel's room).

The property itself, wonderful to stay in a traditional Japanese house.

Great location close to Gion and the metro

The property was too small for a family of 4 and very tired and run down for the price paid. The traditional furnishings were quaint but impractical for a small family.
