Serious Access and Accessibility Concerns

We arrived late at night in heavy rain while travelling with my disabled mother. Upon arrival, we discovered that vehicle access to the hotel is restricted by an official “no entry” sign. Google Maps directs guests to the hotel using what appears to be outdated access information. The route shown on the map is no longer legally accessible in practice. There is no clear on-site guidance explaining how guests are supposed to reach the entrance by car under the current traffic restrictions. The hotel mentioned having special permission; however, as a driver, I could not ignore an official traffic sign and risk receiving a fine. An alternative route appears to be controlled by retractable bollards requiring a remote control, which was not provided to us. No clear or practical instructions were given on how to access the property safely. Although parking is listed as available, it is located approximately 1 km away, with no covered or accessible route to the hotel. For a guest with reduced mobility, especially at night and in severe weather, this makes arrival extremely difficult. Due to the lack of clear and safe access, we were unable to check in and had to find alternative accommodation. The property refused to issue a refund.

Bargain, Great location.

Excellent location for exploring Lyon, rooms were well kept and had what you needed to get by for a few days. Stayed in comfort double room which had comfy beds and a TV. Staff were very polite and helpful.

Room was slightly smaller than anticipated but did not cause us any issues. Lift was quite small - heard this is common in France so be prepared!

We had a lovely time in Lyon and despite some negatives from the accommodation it’d still recommend it & definitely

The property was in very convenient location for great value. With a lovely view from the window. Transport links right at the hotels doorstep. We traveled light so space wasn’t much of an issue though I do believe with large or multiple suitcases space might be an issue but can also be negotiated. There’s shelf storage + hangers and free space behind the doors and under the bed to work around the small space around the bedroom which I view as a positive.

The walls are quite thin so movement from neighbours can be heard. Though this wasn’t an issue so much on our stay, it’s something to be aware of. The bathroom when left open did give of a foul eggy sewage like smell when left open did which wasn’t ideal. The mirror shelf needs to be balanced. You’d hate to have any valuable toiletries in glass containers falling off and smashing. I hope that’s something that will be addressed.

The staff was cleaning the elevator at 10:30 so right when people are leaving their room and cleaning staff is cleaning the rooms, made the elevator not usable, great when you have a heavy suitcase and need to take the stairs. The cleaning of the elevator can wait at least after 11......

Small room but well located

The staff were very helpful and polite. The bed was comfortable. The location was good, quiet, right by a tram stop and 2 minutes walk to a station and metro. The hotel was very clean throughout.

The room was tiny and the shower almost too small to turn round in. The heating was set at 19º which was low, as it was cold outside. The TV was only French channels.

Perfectly located for an early train journey

Perfectly located for the Lyon Perrache station. Very friendly and helpful staff, clean rooms, a nice breakfast, and lovely terrace. I need a cheap place for an overnight stay when traveling for work and this met my needs perfectly.

The bed was sagging and uncomfortable. Room wasn’t as shown on photos. Very tiny. Only one towel for body and face. It has a very very small lift so that it was difficult for one person to go in with a big luggage…

It was wonderfull.

The room was clean. Everything in the breakfast was fresh and delicious. The breaskfast was more than sufficient. It is very close to the metro station which is very easy to come from airport. There is also a tramway station in front of the hotel. We has a special request for our daughter and they did more than our expectations. Lots of thanks to Hotel Villa Berlioz. We definitely offer.

Hotel was good, but having my wallet stolen put a real negative spin on our trip.

Breakfast was great and the staff were very helpful and nice.

I was robbed on the Tram just in front of the hotel. Three young girls got on the tram with my friend and I and because it was so crowded they were somehow able to steal my wallet from a zipped bag around my waist. They were really good at pickpocketing. Please tell the hotel to warn people of pickpockets on Tram 1 in front of the hotel.

Small hotel with great value

Everything looked new, clean and had a nice warm design. Breakfast was very good. Small room with a very comfortable bed and big shower. Location was great, public transport in front and some small stores, a mall and restaurants in the same street.

Not bad, just funny. The elevator was the smallest I have ever seen in my life. Max of two people with luggage and still packed to one another.

very spacious room, staff was super nice and they let us in even before check in time since the room was ready, also, they kept our luggage on the departing day

i couldn’t sleep at night because neighbors were very loud (kept their tv on till 5am and were talking and laughing very loudly all night long), but I wouldn’t say it was because of the room. Noise was fine during the day, some people just don’t know how to behave.

The location was superb for us as we had a very early departure from the train station. The staff were excellent - very helpful and the hotel was extremely clean.
