The location was good

The steps to reach the basement flat were dirty and very steep. After rain they were very wet and rather intimidating, the rail either side was essential.

Excellent, intending to book again next year

Whole apartment very cool in heatwave!

Steps down to front door and lighting over the door. Steps would be very slippery in wet weather although I'm not sure you can do anything about that. Also junk was falling off the roof on the steps which we then trod indoors. We did sweep them with the brush provided. A boot/shoe tray in the middle bit of the apartment would be really good to avoid treading anything inside, particularly if it's been raining but also the detrius in dry weather. Lighting over the front door would be a help as I couldn't see the numbers for the code box to get the key and you also had to fiddle around with a little lever.

Location was spot on. Flat was very warm and clean. We had all amenities and excellent facilities. Very spacious flat. Lovely welcome pack.

Location amazing - steep into town but again railings to help.

A lovely apartment in a great location. Only a couple of really tiny points that were annoying.

The beds were fabulously comforable, I loved the feather pillows and duvet and the mattress was really comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped too, and there were lots of other useful stuff in the cupboard too. Good amount of storage in both bedrooms.

Just a couple of small things that I usually expect to find in an apartment. There was no washing up liquid or dishwasher tablets at all, and no spare toilet rolls. Also there were two clocks in the apartment but neither was working, I think they needed new batteries.

Nice place, perfect location, good parking space.

I liked basically everything. The location idea, the apartment very comfortable and featuring very high quality furniture and appliances.

The apartment is a basement apartment the stairs are very slippery with little drainage and full of mud / mould. One needs to be careful specially if raining and if with little ones. Honestly the owner provided plenty of recommendations via email and messages about this.

Given the wrong PIN code

Big appartment close to center of town. Liked the kitchen.

We were given the wrong PIN code to get in. We did not get a call by the owner until 2 hours after our arrival. By that time we had booked at the Palace Hotel and were eating supper. We asked him, Sykes Cottages and Booking.com for a reimbursment for the missed night plus the cost of the Hotel. No answer from anybody. Very pour response and consideration for what we went through.

Perfect Stay in Buxton

The Apartment was large with everything you could need. Bed Linen and towels were very clean and fresh. Provisions left for us were very generous, including chocolates and a bottle of wine. The location was perfect for both high and low Buxton. Very central. Parking was a massive bonus with plenty of space for even large cars. Literature in the Apartment was very informative. We had a wonderful time.

The steps down to the front door seem to be constantly wet and seem slippy. However, with care, not a problem. The Apartment is a little dark, but that's to be expected as it's a basement. Not dark enough to be off putting.

Perfect location for visiting the town of Buxton, for restaurants and for a range of walks that you could start from the property itself on foot.

The steps down to the front door were constantly wet due to a leaking gutter above which could be a potential slip hazard.

Lovely basement apartment with lots of space and cosy feeling.

Location was perfect, close to amenities. Apartment was light and airy considering it is a basement apartment. Lovely and warm. Cosy feel with a delicious welcome selection of wine, cake, biscuits and milk.

Area is fairly hilly which might be a concern for some. The steps were quite steep to the entrance to the property but we’re ok if you took your time.

Location was great. And the off-road parking. Some small food essentials like bread and milk waiting for us.

Do not stay here. There are some unpleasant aspects and the owner doesn't seem to care. I originally gave the property a reasonable rating and only reported a couple of faults here as I had tried to contact the owner directly (through Sykes Cottages) with some issues for them to resolve. However as the owner refused to respond and Sykes were somewhat awkward and abrupt in their handling I am now listing the full set of issues we had: 1) Cleanliness: - there were a number of spiders around the ceiling, old cobwebs and dense webs around the windows - entryway was full of spiders and webs. A quick brushdown is all that would be required to make it so much more inviting and pleasant especially for the kids - vent on the cooker caked in greasy dust or something. Quite repulsive, extremely off-putting - cutlery drawer dirty under the tray, cleaned it ourselves 2) Large bathroom but despite plentiful empty floor and wall area, zero storage made available for toiletries or other items 3) Battery in living room clock needs changed. Small detail but nice to resolve 4) Wifi completely inadequate, even for the TV which frequently goes blocky or displays the spinner. Probably made worse going through the stone walls but not the root cause. speedtest.net shows poor speed, upload in particular, even next to the router. 5) Single dish cloth and no kitchen towel - inadequate 6) Blue bottle flies constantly appearing, despite closed windows and doors. It's common knowledge that this very likely means there's a dead animal near by 7) Outside bins were almost full on arrival and only the brown bin was ever emptied despite being there for two weeks. 8) Glass was explicitly excluded from what can go in the bins but no information on where glass should go 9) Oven - fan was constantly blowing the whole time. Did not seem to be any way to turn this off - oven trays were covered in foil. Perhaps to keep the trays clean?

Apartment was nicely furnished. Was centrally located for shops, restaurants, attractions etc.

The flat was in a basement and had a really treacherous outdoor staircase. Really unsuitable for my elderly parents, would not have booked if I knew this in advance. Spoiled our holiday.

The flat was warm, superbly equipped and very spacious. Having parking on site was a big bonus and the location is perfect - five minutes to the town centre/Pavilion Gardens/Market Place. Wifi and TV were great also.

The bed was a bit firm for my liking (although my wife didn't mind it) and I didn't get on with the pillows particularly, but you are never going to be able to satisfy everyone on that score.

Loved the welcome gifts of Fizz & chocs! The flat was prepared to an exceptional standard throughout and we had a comfortable stay.

Cosy flat in a great location

Central location so very easy to access shops and pubs in town. Property was very clean with everything you needed in the kitchen. Beds were comfortable and the rooms are all a good size
