It was a wonderful trip for me and a perfect hotel that I would definitely come back to.

In my opinion, Thessaloniki is the most beautiful city in Greece, a very special city for us, as it's where Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey, was born. We are very happy when we come to this city; it has many beautiful places to eat, drink, shop, and visit. The Excelsior Hotel where I stayed within this beauty, its cleanliness, central location, and the friendly and helpful behavior of its staff made me very happy. Thank you very much, I found a wonderful hotel and I will choose it again on my next trip, I am happy.

Great location and lovely building, but you pay for that more than for room comfort

The location is really great and the building itself is really beautiful, a high-ceiling early 20th century structure. Staff was professional and competent.

It’s an old building that was retrofitted to be made into a hotel. This surely posed some structural challenges that lead to less than ideal solutions. For example, our room (number 25 - junior suite) has a small shower on the left of the entrance and a very small bathroom on the right of the entrance which was very quirky and tight; I felt that it was not up to the level of a junior suite. So while I did enjoy the stay I felt it was a bit more expensive than it should - at least for our room.

A very solid take on 5 star accommodation, beautifully located. It will not disappoint.

A beautiful building at a top location, superb breakfast. All requests (late check out, transport, luggage storage) were granted with precision. Most of the staff were experienced, confident and discreetly available. Clochard restaurant at the ground floor is an added bonus.

The view from the junior suite was not particularly pleasant and a very small portion of the staff were trainees or slightly disengaged. I felt I got marginally better value for money at other 5 star hotels in the city with similar rates (such as the Metropolitan Palace or Electra), but that is probably a question of personal taste, leaning towards the stiffer classic instead of the more laid back modern take of what a 5 star should be.

A very good stay in a friendly atmosphere.

Location and accommodating staff. Friendly and responsive.

Glass door in elevator should have a sign or sticker on it as it can be mistaken for open when it is not especially if there are people outside of the elevator waiting to get in. This happened to my wife who was injured. The staff was helpful and came to her aid .

Good location, very good staff, small rooms, very small bathroom, very small elevator, average quality breakfast, but acceptable for a short stay. But the restaurant below is the perfect one !

Had lots of fun in the city as always

Location is on of the best and has parking so you don't care about anything.

This time we were a bit disapoitned as hotel was overbooked and we didn't get the street view room we wanted. We got one facing the back building and there was noice from the air conditioning and aspiration in that back yard. Shower in the bath was leaking.

A Quiet Stay in the Heart of the City

Located in the heart of the city that never sleeps, The Excelsior offers a peaceful oasis amidst the hustle and bustle. Despite the vibrant energy surrounding you, the hotel provides a serene environment where you can truly unwind. Our room faced the main street, but thanks to excellent sound insulation, we enjoyed a restful and quiet night. The staff at the hotel are exceptionally friendly, and our favorite was Elisabeth, a delightful and warm conversationalist who made our stay even more enjoyable. The breakfast offered a great variety, with a special menu of different omelets and egg dishes that are freshly prepared to order. It was the perfect start to our day.

As mentioned, the breakfast is diverse, but after a week, a change in variety would have been appreciated. Additionally, if the hotel had a sauna or spa, it would have exceeded all expectations.

Exceptional

The hotel is great (like fully renovated), it is downtown, with cafes and shops all around, the staff is very kind and helpful, the room was super clean and really well made, with a big balcony and sea view. We had a welcome coffee/ juice and in the room there was a bottle of wine and a plate of macarons and fruits. I would definitely stay again and recommend it!

The central heating system was a bit over our liking so we opened the window.
