Great location, great location, but limited space.

Location and staff were top notch. Restaurant food was great, breakfast was fresh and adequate for this size establishment.

We had a 3rd bed in the room which was hardish and uncomfortable. The shower was adequate but smallish, but that is because the building is 530 years old. The TV was small. The ‘family room’ was small and we lived out of 3 large suitcases on the floor. With small suitcases, the room would have been fine. Housekeeping was very prompt and the staff VERY accomodating. No coffee or Tea making facilities in the room. You had to pay just to get some tea, which is way below expected European standard at 4 stars. The safe had a key instead of a code, which also made things unnecessarily complicated when we ended up temporarily misplacing it. Lucky we found it because reception told us they didn’t have another (or master key, really?!). The hotel provided free water bottles at reception and the local free travel pass for public transport in the area.

Bathroom had a wonky glass door that swung out into the bedroom nearly touching the bed. Shower was very tight

Location was walkable to train and clean

No self service amenities such as coffee or tea maker, microwave, staff strict about water bottles only in room and not in restaurant. No to go coffee cups or early coffee for early train. In general felt more like a hostel than hotel

Very friendly hotel in the heart of Luzern with excellent parking facilities and comfortable rooms.

The hotel was a perfect location to visit Lucerne and, as we were driving, had private parking (at a cost) available. This worked extremely well. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we had no problems at all. The room was comfortable with a good sized bathroom and whilst our room was at the front with a road nearby we weren't impacted by traffic noise. We did have breakfast included and this was very good with a very good choice and helpful staff. A good hotel to stay when visiting Lucerne as all the things to visit were within walking distance.

Lovely hotel and wonderful staff!

Great property! Our first time staying here. Very convenient. Great access to bus lines. Also reasonably quiet for the location. Breakfast was a wide variety of things, all excellent quality. Dinner in the restaurant was very good and would recommend. Absolutely loved the shower!! It was wonderful. Bed was comfortable.

Very personalized experience in Lake Lucerne

The hotel, restaurant, and staff really made the trip to Lucerne special. The staff was so helpful, they helped book me a trip up Mt Rigi to go to the mineral baths, they brought coffee and food up to my room so I wouldn’t miss the football game, and the waitress in the restaurant remembered my coffee order after the first day. Felt very personalized and I really appreciated the experience they provided.

Good stay

We stayed here for two nights. This is an older hotel that needs an upgrade. The breakfast buffet was good and the hotel staff was helpful and friendly. The hotel is located a block from the lake - great location!

The room and bathroom are small. There was no air conditioning and the room fan was loud and only had two settings.

Nice place, conveniently located, excellent food at the restaurant for dinner

The restaurant was excellent Best meals we had the entire trip. The room was comfortable. However, we had an old ceramic large heater that took up a lot of room . The shower leaked at the base. Great location Not quiet due to church bells.

Perfect quaint boutique hotel in lovely Lucerne

Location was near 2 bus stops and a short walk to the old section of town Breakfast was included and it was perfect for us- eggs, bacon, home made bread ( that was amazing), yogurt, fruit, cheeses, juices and the BEST coffee!! We also ate dinner there 2 nights - our pastas and risotto were very good as well as the desserts! Dining area over looked the cute court yard with large windows- eating out is an option but it was coolish when we were there so we didn’t eat out there . Offered free water bottles Staff was very helpful with bus and train info and advising us on our trip up to Pilatus Mountain and Gutsch Castle . They Also helped with bringing our luggage up to and down from our room- as there were many steps! Very lovely place to stay if you like quaint smaller boutique hotels !!

Best choice in town

Comfortable beds, very clean, staff very attentive for our requests, they even took care of our car parking (for additional pay). The location is a winner - close to almost everything especially the boardwalk. Suitable for Sabbath observers

It is a very-very good variant to visit Lucerne, for a short or a long stay. Very good position, very good facilities, nice personal, good breakfast, perfect cleanliness. Very good restaurant, with a very nice garden and an ... more than interesting menu. So, in a nut shell formulation: best value for the price!...

Nothing important to mention here. Almost everything was just perfect. .. Maybe only the temperature inside the room, due to the high temperature outside and the fact the mobile AC unit was not the perfect way to fight with... But, wasn't so hard to manage!... So, ...big thanks and hugs to the staff. I would come back in this hotel, any single occasion I will have.

Beautiful hotel in an amazing location.

Terrific location. In a vibrant and beautiful part of Lucerne. Close to the heart of Lucerne and the lake. Also close to the train station. Lots to do nearby. The hotel is also lovely. While it doesn’t have air conditioning, you can ask for a portable air conditioner. I messaged asking for one before I arrived and they had it set up and running in our room. It worked great. Nice breakfast buffet too. They even had washcloths, shampoo and conditioner, lotion, etc!

The friendliest hotel I have ever stayed in. 11 out of 10!!!

This hotel was exceptionally friendly and the staff went out of their way to make us feel valued. You didn’t to ask for assistance because they anticipated your needs before you could ask. Kathrin was outstanding as she served breakfast and quickly knew what you might ask for. The reception staff also were efficient and attentive.

Being an old building, the floor levels were inconsistent. This would be a challenge with someone with mobility issues. Other than that, it is hard to find anything else that would have had a negative impact on our stay.

Would recommend.

Great location and staff. We stayed at multiple hotels of a similar rating/price during our time in Switzerland and this was by far the best and most welcoming staff. The room was cleaned well each day and they even went as far as to clean the floor which was appreciated. Location is perfect. Some have complained about the church bells but we found it to be a cool aspect to the location and it didn’t disturb us. Breakfast and coffee was good.

It was very hot but we’re pampered Americans who like AC.

Delighted we picked this hotel as it was perfect.

Location of the hotel was only a 10mins walk from the train station. The staff were so welcoming and very helpful. This is a small hotel but delivers well.

Only fault and it was minor is that perhaps there could have been a nonslip mat in the shower cabinet as the bottom of the cabinet sometimes was slippy.

Lovely Hotel - No A/C

Beautiful hotel! About a 15 minute walk from the train station right around the lake. Our room was large and we had a nice view of the courtyard. We also had a small kitchenette which was great. I think this used to be an apartment building that was converted. Breakfast was wonderful! Many different options and several “American” staples. Barista to make your favorite coffee! Staff were super friendly and we had a very warm welcome. We’d definitely stay again.

Just be aware there is no A/C. I understand this is normal in Europe, but if it’s hot or humid outside it can make for some sweaty nights. We were provided with a box fan, but it made little difference. Also, our room was a halfway between floors, so the was a small portion were we had to carry luggage up or down stairs. It was ok for us, but if you have limitations; call and make sure your room is fully accessible with the elevator.

Great day in Lucerne starts and ends with hotel Hofgarten

I really enjoyed the location adjacent to the train station and the old town area. I was pleasantly surprised by outside of the building was traditional and the inside was new and nice. And the Resturant service and nice garden area. The gentleman working the front reception was also working the Resturant, he was really welcoming. I recommend the beef TarTare.

The only negative I can maybe think of is the in room tablet. I like the idea but picked it up and placed it face down when not in use. I don’t like cameras on devices. A small thing, easy to fix.

Great location, so much charm, would stay again!

Staff was incredible and very helpful. Breakfast was superb and the women serving breakfast was a delight! Charming hotel, right in the heart of all the action. Very easy walk to Old Town. We almost stayed elsewhere and SO glad we decided on this hotel. Recommending to friends who will be in the area next year!
