Cheap and cheerful :-)

It's a basic pension, has everything you need but not much more. Good value for its situation.

Can't complain, it met what I expected. The 'traffic noise' mentioned in other reviews is a thing, but I was prepared with earplugs and slept quite well.

This is a charming place to stay. Close to the sea and the tourist areas. Marta and her son were so friendly and welcoming and we had a lovely chat when I arrived. Room was basic, but clean. The bed was comfortable and there was a sink in the room. Two shower/WC rooms were across the hall which were clean. Would be happy to stay here again.

Mototrip

The staff were really nice and friendly. I was solo travelling on a motorcycle. The room had everything you need. Shower was included, but the toilet was shared. Everything was clean, but the building is a bit old and you can see the wear. All in all, I'm pretty satisfied. The building is basically in city centre so everything is pretty close.

amazing, would recommend

I had a great experience staying here. The location is excellent - everything is close by, including public transport, which made getting around very easy. Marta, the host, is incredibly kind and welcoming. Thanks to her, I felt safe and well taken care of throughout my stay. She even let me stay an extra night when I found myself in a difficult situation, which I truly appreciated. Overall, I was very satisfied with the accommodation and would definitely recommend it to others.

Just a heads-up - there's no air conditioning, so during warm summer nights, you'll need to keep the windows open - even then, it can get quite hot. Not a big problem, just wanted to point it out:)

Perfect location and great host !

First of all, I'd like to point out Marta's kindness. I informed her a few hours before arriving that I woludn't be able to check-in on time (that is : before 8PM) because of the bus arrival to the bus station. She put the key in the mailbox and gave me all the instructions needed to self check-in. What a great surprise to see that I've been upgraded to a room with a private ensuite bathroom when I had initally booked a room with a shared bathroom ! The room and the bathroom were very big with high ceilings. The hallway to the bedroom has a very charming decoration, reminding me of an escape room. Everything was clean and the only noise you could hear would be from the street, but it isn't annoying. The accomodation is at a walking distance from the bus and train stations, as well as from Trieste Canal Grande. Since Trieste wasn't originally in my plan for the trip, I only stayed there for the night and left very early in the morning to catch my train. I notified Marta about it, and apologized for the hasty check-out. She was very understanding of my situation and even though we couldn't see each other during the short stay, I really appreciated everything she did to make it pleasant and enjoyable :)

Marta IS A THIEF AND A LIAR, SHE cancelled my reservation herself without asking me and stole my €40

Nothing!!! Marta is fucking Thief!! Cancelled my reservation without a reason and without asking me and still charged me full price and stole my money!!!€40

First the customer service. She had none. Was rude, did not communicate at all with me, did not answered my calls, emails, did not want to wait 15 mins for my arrival be ause train would arrive 15 mins later. Marta herself cancelled my reservation without asking me and still had the balls to charge me €40 euros and i didn't even cancel my stay. She left me without a place to arrive and stole my money. Never answered my calls and booking did not do anything to resolve the problem either!!! Marta is a thief and a liar do not stay there!!!

Good price, bad manners. No cleaning and no facilities

It was cheap and good location.

Cleanings and facilities not good. No soap in the room, no clean towels (they got brown stains on them, quite gross). The heatings are not all day on, rooms are cold. Weird odors in the room. Worst of all the owner attacked me when asked to turn on the heaters, calling me on the phone assaulting me instead of finding a solution together. Not recommended!

Could not be better!

Surprisingly, there is an elevator in the building (which some clients wrote that there were only stairs). And even more: there was a full private bathroom inside the bedroom! Marta is a charming fantastic person , at all times ready to help the clients. Great place to stay, will certainly return. And last but not least only a 5 min walk from the train station.

Marta is really kind and friendly. I could tell from the beginning that she is hard working women and she loves what she does! The room was really clean and there was enough space. It was too hot in the room because there is no air conditioning and it is too noisy. On booking, I paid for a room with a twin bed, and I got a single.

My stay at Marta's was exceptional! I loved everything about it. Marta is very friendly and warm. I felt truly welcomed. Place was beautifully decorated in the typical Italian antique, vintage style. Location was perfect! Literally 30seconds from the gorgeous central canal part and 10min walk from the station. Everything was squeeky clean. Bathroom was fully equiped with clean towels and very tidy. Room was basic and had everything I needed, including work desk and chair, wardrobe, table to eat from, small reading light and the fan. It was very quiet and peaceful. I slept very well. I came beginning of May so other times maybe different. I enjoyed staying at Marta's very much and I am planning to stay here next time I visit Trieste. Excellent host, space, location and value for money! Highly recommended! Thank you Marta and see you very soon!! :))

Very good

Marta was very friendly and helpful. It has a lovely homely feel and is nicely decorated. It was an easy stroll to sights and eateries.

Perhaps we missed the instructions on how to enter the premises. We found the plaque on the front door then pressed the buzzer with her name. That opened the door into a very dingy foyer with no sign as to where to go. We simply went up the stairs until we found the right door on the third floor. Once found all was good.

Adorable and affordable private rooms

Marta was super kind and helpful! The interior decoration of the place was quaint and adorable, I wish I had stayed longer!!

During the night there must have been some plumbing issues because my sink kept gurgling :/ wasn't a huge deal but also wasnt conducive to a great night's sleep

Very welcoming and well situated

I liked the location and the owner is very nice and welcoming.

There is no indication on the outside door as to how to get in. I tried ringing several times, twice at different times in the morning and no one answered, until by chance the third time the door opened. You are suppose to ring and AT THE SAME TIME push the door to enter the building and go to the 2nd floor for the hostel.

Loved it!

Excellent location. A stones throw from the train/bus station. Trieste promenade a 5 minute walk to watch a glorious sunset. An abundance of restaurants and cafes nearby - Marta is a warm and welcoming hostess, who will meet you with a smile and a hug. I loved the old style Italian decor and lighting. 😍 I had an excellent nights sleep (big bonus) super value for money. I highly recommend a stay with Marta. Grazie Molto. Linda (Irlanda) 🤗

Disappointing

The house's location is good, near the centre and the promenade. The furnishings in the house is generally pleasant. The apartment is clean.

It was terribly cold in my room. I tried to discuss this with the hostess, but unfortunately, the communication was not productive, she turned off the heating at her own discretion and did not answer messages and calls. So it was impossible to sleep. There was nothing in the house to make a hot drink - tea or coffee. The only way to warm water for tea was to put a cup of water in the microwave.

Homely feel in central Trieste

Marta offers rooms with a homestay feel. I really appreciated the warm welcome and goodbye, felt like I was staying with a relative or friend. I booked a room with shared bathroom, but got one with en suite, which I appreciated! The rooms offer absolute value for money, with what I'd describe as an old Italian palazzo style, and the location in central Trieste is perfect.

The showerhead and sliding doors are nearly broken and need fixing or replacement.

Great accommodation, truly recommend, great value for money

As everyone mentioned in the previous reviews, Marta is really so welcoming and accommodating, it was wonderful to stay in one of her rooms. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Towels were provided. Marta rooms are right around the corner from the city center, so perfectly located. To be honest this was my favorite accommodation so far :) I truly recommend!
