Surreal

Where do I even begin? Trude and John were phenomenal hosts. They are flexible, kind and accommodating. They welcomed me into their home, offered me coffee and homemade cake and shared beautiful life stories with me that I will cherish forever. The cottage is situated on stunning grounds with breathtaking views of Bethells Beach. The cottage had everything I needed and more. And it was spotless. I even got to witness a hilocopter wedding on the premises, which was a huge treat! I really made myself at home and Trude and John made that very easy. My stay there was a lifetime experience that I will never forget.

Character accommodation with an amazing view

The view overlooking the sand dunes and beach is stunning. Private yet a shared communal area also and gardens and lawns, Quirky accommodation, loved the outdoor fire. Very relaxing plus make time to explore all around Bethells.

Great view!! Nice and cosy cottage with everything you need. The host,John, came down and introduced the surroundings to us. You can clearly see the Bethells beach and the sunset from the cottage. Fantastic stay!

Stunning location, comfortable cottage, wonderful host - you simply have to visit!

Have wanted to stay at the Bethell's Cottages for many years now! It exceeded all my expectations. The cottage was gorgeous, so comfortable and well equipped, and the view could not be topped, and the host, John, could not have been more welcoming and gave me great tips on local spots to visit, gave me a guided tour down onto a lesser known part of the beach through a private track, and showed me the best spot to see the sunset. I genuinely didn't want to leave!

Genuinely can't fault my stay here - everything was amazing! For some perhaps the distance from places to buy food might be something to consider, and possibly the windy roads in to Bethell's Beach itself, but these are manageable easily and honestly just buy groceries on the way in and you won't need to leave to get food (because you won't want to!)

Great escape from the city, views are amazing and you have your own privacy very romantic and peaceful. Outdoor fire place was a bonus cooked my BBQ yet. John and Trude were so welcoming with a vast knowledge of the area.

Best to go there during daylight if your not familiar with the area.

Relaxing stay with amazing sunsets to the west viewed from the cottage.

The location and view were amazing looking over Bethells Beach. We also drove to Phia and KareKare beaches. Beautiful scenery and location. Nice cottage with everything you need. Beautiful fresh flowers in our room.

It was private with a beach view and quite remote. The cottage had a really nice feel to it. The hosts were super helpful and went above what was expected.

No wifi in the room but they did have a landline to make calls.

A perfect 24 hour break in our space.

The location (view/ sense of being away from it all) is stunning, especially so close to the centre of Auckland. Especially liked uninterrupted view across garden down over Bush to Bethell's Beach itself.

Room maybe, a, tad cluttered, but that was offset by its character and hominess.

Absolutely stunning views- perfect for sitting back and watching the tides, surfies, walkers etc.

the views from the cottage were absolutely spectacular, the bed was comfy, the Hilary walk was amazing, the kitchen was well equipped. the directions to get there were very good. John was very friendly and was happy to share his knowledge of the area. the lighting in the room was great for reading at all hours.

We didn't realise when booking that the cottage was on the front lawn of the owners house, we were also surprised that there wasnt any private accessway to the beach. the photos indicate the property borders the beach reserve and normally in NZ that would mean private direct access but not in this case, access was only via the public accessway- some distance away. The wifi was being upgraded and didnt work in the room.
