It was close to Eden Park, where we wanted to be for the Edinburgh Tattoo. The staff at reception were friendly and welcoming. The room was ample … clean, tidy, comfortable beds …

There wasn’t anything … a little noise from upstairs with drawers opening and shutting and footsteps … but to be expected … and no fault of the Surrey Hotel …

Comfortable and met our needs nicely

Great location, nice a close to all the things we wanted to do while staying in Auckland, like Motat, the zoo and Kelly Tarltons. The staff were kind and approachable too.

The bed was a bit hard, I prefer a softer bed.

Lovely vintage style Grey Lynn hotel

Lovely room, comfortable beds, helpful friendly staff and very convenient location in Grey Lynn. My kids loved the pool and it's walkable to the local shops. Great value for money :)

It’s not an attractive place to stay but it provided an easy overnight stop and provided basic facilities.

3 night stay

Apartment was comfortable. Aurcon in bedroom was lovely.

Between 8am to 9am on the 3rd morning one of housekeeping yelled housekeeping and came straight through the door without waiting for a response. She apologised and said she thought the apartment was empty, but it still was intrusive. The other housekeepers who came later in the morning were excellent.

One night stay for family of 4

We stayed here just one night for an event the following day. The room was modern and very comfortable for a family of 4. The kids also enjoyed the pool. There is parking on site and we were lucky enough to get a spot. There are food joints, restaurants, dairies, etc. within walking distance.

The hallways and overall hotel look to be in the exact condition when it was built, with same dated carpets. I guess that adds to the character.

Not as expected

We have identified several issues during our stay, including unclear information regarding parking availability, unsatisfactory cleanliness of the bathroom, carpet, and microwave, and a malfunctioning door that resulted in the room being unsecured. Additionally, housekeeping services were inconsistent, with the room not being properly cleaned on one occasion and towels being replaced incorrectly. The advertised smart TV availability was inaccurate, and the restaurant's operating hours were misrepresented, as it was closed an hour before the stated time.

Easy

The room was great, and the pool was fab for the tamariki. Our Whanau had a great time there! Not that we were there during the day more in the afternoon perfect for a swim. Would i stay again? Yes. Very family friendly :)

The food at the pub, overpriced for what you get. We had ordered one burger $25 It wasnt great. We had ordered one pizza $23 that not even my kids were happy with, loaded fries that again didn't impress the kids and the size for $15 was a joke I had asked how many stuffed Jalapenos i would get before paying i was told 5 and received 3 for $16.50. It was a joke lucky i was tried as i had traveled from wellington as generally i would've complained especially because i had asked while making the order. We had ordered two drinks and i dont know how but our order came to $89. Not the best experience and i wouldn't recommend. Service was good.

We stayed here as we were going to the rugby at Eden park. Great location as we walked to and from the venue without any issue. Would definitely stay again for the same purpose.

Good parking, warm room, easy access

The sink needs a scrubbing brush, so does the toilet! Cleanliness is average Do not disturb sign got ignored by cleaners The floorboards in the 1st level are quite squeaky which is heard in the below room We were given 1 less towel on 2 seperate occassions and had to get another at reception The door swipe cards got deactivated for some reason luckily during buisness hours as we couldnt get into our room!
