It was a beautiful old building with lots of history, set off from main road down a big driveway. The location was good for our plans. I requested a quiet room, which was accommodated. Clean cosy, en-suite single room. Very good value. Best thing about the stay was how friendly and helpful the staff were. Felt very welcomed, and looked after.
Nothing I didn’t like. It was not central, but buses and taxis were easy and cheap to get to accommodation.

Customer Service team were great.
The room was freezing (although this was resolved by a heater being brought to the room it did not help with the cold.
The bathroom door lock was hanging on for fear life and the extractor fan when switched on made the most excruciatingly painful noise in the early hours.
It was only £50 per night so we were not complaining, just a few pointers.
No lift for disabled people either.

It was very dark when we arrived and left but the building had lots of character and almost felt like we were walking into Transylvania - potential for a great atmosphere
It was freezing, the heating was just about on, I could have slept on the radiator and still needed extra covers.

Everything, it was disgusting. Didn’t even stay the first night! Room was freezing and there were pubes all over the bed and toilet seat! Absolutely disgusted in the whole room! Will never book again

It was a nice and simple stay. I'm only there for a night for work purpose only and it is pretty comfortable. And I had a good night sleep, I'd stay here again
I was worried about the car park as I didn't feel it was secure however there were no issues with the car on the next day

Easy transport links to city centre.
Nice staff
Could easily be improved with a few simple steps: supply a bin in the room. Make sure the TV is unusable, didn’t work but even if it did it’s in an unwatchable position.

Solo traveller staying 7 nights. Small but clean and comfortable room. Desk and chair, kettle and excellent shower. Perfect for me. Very good low price. Close to Newcastle city centre. Free parking at the hotel too.
There is nothing really that I didn't like or could complain about. Ok, not an expensive "luxury" hotel, but had all I needed at a great price.

Staff was rude, the hotel was dirty, there was mould on the walls and curtains, the pillows on the bed were stained yellow and the grate outside of the reception door is a safety risk and needs to be repaired immediately.

The location wasn’t too far from city
The building had quirks
The cleanliness was extremely poor
Lots of stains, dirty, and very mouldy, table leg was disintegrating due to the thick mould
Broken window handle
Rooms were freezing, windows wouldn’t close
Remote/ table/ kettle/ skirting boards, chairs, carpets, light switch, bathrooms light also filthy,
stains on walls and bathroom floor,
Bedding was stained, headboards stained, pictures on the walls were stained, mirrors dirty
Kettle tray- dirty, no spoons. Dusty table, had to plug the whole tray in to boil kettle
Customer service- booked a double bed- en-suite, tried to put me in a single bed room- no mirror-
table- chair- Asked to swap as not what I paid for, rude customer service even when I apologised for the fuss- he told me I better give him a good review!! Then left.
Told us we had to pay £10 to give us bedroom keys.

The hotel was very clean and the staff were exceptional. Moby went out of his way to accommodate us. Yes the hotel needs updating but for the price they charge you can't expect the Hilton. I nearly cancelled after seeing some of the reviews but I'm really glad I didn't. It's perfect if all you need is a base and somewhere to lay your head for the night.
No restaurant and the coffee machine in the foyer was broken. The Hotel needs modernising

The location wasn't awful, so I can't complain about it.
The member of staff that was on reception both when we checked in and checked out was exceptionally rude. He didn't speak to us politely, he spoke in a harsh tone- like he was snapping at us with every word he said. It seemed like our presence was an inconvenience to him. He tried to charge us £10 in cash for the key card, none of us were aware of this and we didn't have any cash with us. When we read the instructions on the back of the key card, it said if we lost it, it would be a £10 penalty. So why was he trying to make us pay that before we even got our rooms?? He was very rude when he saw me standing behind my friends and rolled his eyes when he asked if I had booked. He was also very hard to understand, had to ask him to repeat things several times.
The whole building needs a massive revamp- it looks very grimy and run down. We had 3 rooms, each booked separately, and they all had major faults that were both disgusting to look at and a potential danger to our health.
There were stains on the bathroom floor, on bedding (the bed runner) and chair. The room was freezing cold, radiator never actually worked just made a strange gargling noise since 7pm and it was still going at 11AM the next day when I left. Would've been nice if it actually worked, instead of leaving me shivering all night. There were stains around the window ledge, potentially mould, I didn't want to check what it actually was but it was disgusting. The TV remote had grime all over it. There were hairs on the bedding, that certainly wasn't mine. No small light (lamp) only a big light, which meant you either had the big light on or you were sat in complete darkness.

The location being in a quiet area was great
Stains on the curtains and bedding
Filthy room with dust, dirt and stains everywhere
One window was broken so had to stay open in very cold weather.
The heated bathroom radiator leaked water all over the bathroom floor and toilet
We kept finding woodlice on the bathroom floor all weekend
The radiators were constantly on and even though we were told staff had turned our room one off due to the room being to hot and unbearable at times, our radiators never got turned off.

Really tired decor, curtains hanging off, walls stained, cheap bed, felt grimy, cupboards missing handles, dirty windows

It was a five-minute drive away from where we needed to be.
Helpful, if somewhat officious, staff
Terrible room. Double bed pushed up against a wall, so one of us couldn't get in or out of bed easily. Given the layout of the room, it should be set up as a single or twin.
Tea tray had no spoons and no milk. Tea tray and kettle set out on a table lower than knee height, so not easy or practical to use.
In spite of the room smelling like it had been cleaned with industrial strength disinfectant, I got bitten on the leg by something.
The rack in the shower was filthy and rusted. The basin tap had only cold water, no hot.
Overall, a very old, gloomy place.
Spend a little more and stay somewhere better.

The staff were very polite and gracious and bed was comfy.
If I had paid £20 for a hostel-like stay this room would have been fine, however, the dynamic pricing for several events in Newcastle meant that this was incredibly disappointing. The cleaning of the room was perfunctory, old stains visible on bedspread, the draw of the bedside cabinet was filthy and unusable. The TV did not work, neither did the kettle in the room and when we tried to use the coffee machine in the lounge instead, we were told that was also broken.
On arrival we were given the key to a room which someone else had already checking into, and were able to access their room with all of their things. There is no soundproofing and the noises of a couple across the hall arguing carried making it very difficult to sleep.

It’s an old building with lots of potential. Could be amazing if someone invested time and money into it.
The hotel has definitely seen better days, it’s looking a little weary, like it could use a strong coffee and a lie down of its own. That said, it was clean, and that counts for a lot. Some of the fixtures, however, were more tired than I was.
The toilet in reception had no lock, our bathroom door didn’t close properly, and its lock looked like it was on the verge of retirement. One of the window restrictors had clearly been through some sort of dramatic incident, with broken wood still dangling. The wardrobe was leaning against the wall as if it, too, had simply given up.
The rest of the room, to be fair, was fine. Clean, the bed was comfortable, and the first night was blissfully quiet.
Staff were pleasant, though some of the interactions were slightly odd. I arrived late (10:40pm) and finding the place was pretty confusing. The main visible sign was for an old people’s home, and parking was… creative. A sign for “additional parking” led directly to a metal fence. I asked if I could park in front of that fence, as it didn’t look like it was used and my friend would still need to park. She would be able to block me in. I specifically asked of they needed access, reception said no access needed and to go ahead and park there.
I didn’t expect to be asked for a £10 cash deposit for the key. I don’t carry cash, but I would have if I’d known. It’s not mentioned in any of the booking emails (I checked, twice). He kindly accepted a £5 note I found in my bag. When I suggested they might add it for clarity, the receptionist looked like I’d just complained. That was not my intention. Just a helpful suggestion for future guests to be able to prepare.
The next morning, we were asked to move the cars because the shop needed access. No idea what shop. No problem at all, but a heads-up the night before would have avoided the shuffle. Plus it was 11:30am and we could have already headed out by then. I would have been mortified if I’d prevented access all day despite asking.

If want the ritz, book the ritz. The room was clean, tidy and beds were comfortable. Shower hot, if you pay budget prices you’re going to get a budget room.
Toilet seat was broken and a bit of a dodgy plug.

The smell. The room. The broken window. I Could hear the adjoining doors constanly banging and guests talking until the early hours.
