What we needed gor a night

We booked in here as the place were going to stay was filthy and horrible. It felt welcoming after that experience! Met with smiley member of staff. Central location to town. Basic facilities so fine for a night's stay.

Bed was a big uncomfortable. But basically it did the trick for a night

Good value basic accommodation on Bishops Stortford high street

Basic, but clean and conveniently situated accommodation on the high street there is a good selection of shops nearby and a Tesco Express open 6am-11pm every day. Generous supply of tea, coffee sachets and milk in the room. I liked the big fluffy bath towels and the updated bathroom (although beware the fierce tap on the sink) Unobtrusive staff who are easily contacted if necessary. Great value - I always choose The George for a 2/3 night stay.

Room 8 overlooking the junction was noisy with traffic and weekend revellers. I slept ok but glad my husband wasn’t with me - he’d have been awake all night. No hairdryer in room. Pillows a bit lumpy.

Felt creepy and unsafe it was dark and dirty needs a refubish but for £50 what can you expect

Staff was friendly was seen straight away, was cheap

the carpet was dirty and all lifting floor was slanted and creaky bedside table was all chipped and wobbly, bed headboard was of coloured and very worn out , front door handle was all damaged looked like someone tried to break out or in and it has attempted to be filled in, no key card to get into hotel door unlocked so people have direct access to outside your door. It was quite creepy looking and felt unsafe.

Close to every thing, but incredibly noisy and unable to sleep much.

Close to everything. Comfy beds. And nice spacious bathroom.

Not double glazed. The location is unfortunately on the corner by traffic noise. Partying people until around 0300, then hgv’s waiting to turn at the lights giving warning audios from 0530. Hgv’s reversing beeps from 0600. Not much sleep to be had.

Dreadful place

The George is near several restaurants and a car park. It might have once been nice. The sheets and towels were clean however.

VERY shabby building, unwelcoming reception, tatty carpets and our room hadn’t been painted in years and the door and walls were filthy. No picture above the bed, just a hook and bare lightbulbs. Nowhere to hang a towel and loo roll holder broken. Terrible toiletries.

For the cost of £53.00 on Christmas Night, I would stay again.

Good location in Bishops Stortford Town . Very reasonably priced . Hotel decor a bit tired but for the money what I expected. It was clean and bed comfortable with tea, coffee etc and TV . The arrangement to tel a mobile number to obtain room pass worked surprisingly well, considering I arrived on Christmas Day,

Sadly there was nothing to like about this hotel.

Incredibly run down, very poor service when I arrived, door numbers falling off and written back on, arrived in dark late afternoon, no light switches by door they were on the otherwise of the room. clear signs the door to hotel room had previously been broken in to. I did not stay in hotel, found alternative accommodation.

Very central location very clean comfortable room , very good value for money

Transport with train from airport very accessible and an easy walk from train station to the hotel. Superb location, right in middle of the town, will definitely stay again. Room and bathroom very clean, bed very comfortable, tea/coffee available in room - nice touch. Overall very good and good value, will definitely stay again.

As it was an old building corridors very narrow, need to be aware of layout.

It was very noisy as close to multiple bars, so you’re staying on a Friday / Saturday night you will hear music all night.

It’s location. Staff very welcoming. Room clean with one double bed and one single bed. Fab shower.

Needs a lick of paint and the reception updating but it didn’t stop us from having a good time in Bishops stortford.
