The hotel is literally on the Marina and for us, very convenient. The rooms are usually quite clean and comfortable and once you have the knack of the heating buttons quite pleasant. They are a bit small and the furnishings are a bit random - but overall they are a comfortable place to stay.
7.0 / 10.0
The location was lovely both in terms of the marina, canal and river, and in terms of an excellent ‘stop-off’ on our journey. The bed was very comfortable, the room spacious, and the tea/coffee was sufficient. The recommendation for the marina cafe was spot on as it was a good place to go for a bite to eat. The pubs in the village were both shut.
The main door lock for the house was broken (for room no.11) and so remained unlocked all night. Both the bedroom and bathroom windows didn’t appear to close properly so I could hear conversations and noise from outside. However, the area is very quiet and so was not a problem after 10pm. This also meant the room was quite cold on arrival. The green ‘overnight’ light is bright - bring an eye mask if you need complete darkness to sleep.

location and staff .The room was clean and comfortable and had all the standard features described.
It was very cold in the room. When we arrived about 3pm the temp on the controls in the room was reading 11C . We put the heater on and it did start working straight away but by 11pm it was still only 16C in the room. It was a cold February day but it would have been nice to get to 19/20C within a reasonable time.

The room was too light at night. The emergency green light on the ceiling was too bright and the curtains were did not stop the outside carpark lights coming in.

Convenient to my workplace
The place is too cold and why is heating switched off at 2030?There are not enough winter duvets. The manager controlling heating is not doing a good job as he is chasing customers away.

The staff were very welcoming. Everything was explained very well as to what would happen over Christmas. They had doubled up on Everything so I had plenty of towels etc. It was literally just for me to sleep as I was visiting family.
The only downside and its a personal preference is the duvet is paper thin. I prefer a bit of weight on me when I sleep. I did use the small blanket and I also used the spare towels to add extra weight.

I just needed a bed basically for the night and at £66 it seemed a bargain
The toilet and bathroom whilst aesthetically clean absolutely stunk of sewerage but I didn’t go to the room until after reception was closed quite late at night so nothing I could do . The WiFi code didn’t work and even the receptionist tried and then said “oh yes well it’s not the strongest WiFi we do have problems!” Even my 4g wouldn’t connect and as a woman on my own it wasn’t very reassuring !

Very nice and Modern only thing missing is a full length mirror.
Nothing not to like

Great value, room was large and modern, comfortable bed, easy parking outside hotel room which was accessed from its own front door outside. Room was generally clean.
Some cobwebs in the bathroom, early checkout of 10am is out of kilter with other establishments, onsite cafe / bar / restaurant has a very limited menu and was closed on day of checkout without warning, meaning that we couldn't get breakfast.

Value for money in a great location
Unfortunately I was in room 14 the bed needs replacing and if there’s people in the room upstairs and they come back in the early hours you don’t get much sleep

Didn't eat there but the rooms were comfortable and clean.
There was no hot water for showers in the morning and the maintenance staf don't arrive till 8am. But it was promptly fixed once they got there.
Care needed at the entrance road as it's a single track with no passing places at the beginning and further down a blind hump back bridge.

The cleanliness of the rooms and the free parking
The green light in both the bathroom and the bedroom that stayed on all night. It was far too bright making it hard to sleep.

We had a bit of a situation with booking and the staff couldn't find our reservation but the problem was solved immediatley and we got upgraded from a room to a lodge. The lodge was fenomenal, exceptionally clean, lots of room and best of all.. a jackuzzi! The ambiance is stellar, everyone is friendly and we had an amazing stay at this location. Staff was very helpful with any and all of our requests and questions. Nothing but a positive review!

The location
The rooms weren't clean. We had three rooms. One had a massive spiders web, with spider on the ceiling. None of the bathrooms were cleaned very well.

I booked last minute so I ended up with a family room when I was on my urn but that’s becsuse it was fully and had no other option - so if stated with others would of been cyst affective
The shower facilities did not work so couldn’t clean very frustrated admit the noise when running the sink and flushing the chain was atrocious

The hotel is located by a picturesque canal and provides a comfortable night’s sleep despite being close to a train line.
The main pitfall for car drivers is having to cross a busy railway line to get in, which was closed for 13 minutes and 4 trains when we arrived. I tried the restaurant for breakfast and received a half frozen muffin and very ordinary muffin.

Room comfortable with good amount of storage. Complementary toiletries (not just the usual ones fixed to the wall) and nice biscuits with the tea/coffee etc.
Arrival. No lighting in car park after dark, Reception difficult to find in the dark as signage not lit up, no advance warning that Reception shuts at 5pm on Sunday and 7pm on Saturday - so you have to ring security to come out to check you in and give you your key (email said check in was to midnight so had assumed they would be open at 9pm ). Quite stressful walking around in the dark and pouring rain, not knowing where to go and nobody about to help.
Next door neighbours in Room 10 talking and laughing very loudly at 6.30am on Sunday. Could hear every word they said. Not hotel's fault - just highly inconsiderate people, unless of course it was because the sound proofing wasn't up to scratch.
Had hoped hotel would be closer to marina but in fact all you looked out on was a car park.
Would have mentioned most of this on leaving but, rather unusually for a hotel stay, were not asked on checking out how we had found our stay.

Great location, easy to check in! Good selection of teas / coffee / biscuits and lots of bathroom products!
Shower was terrible and desperately needs replacing! Couldn’t adjust the head or height, water pressure not great either!

Convenient location
Room 19 - the lock was busted so we firstly got locked in and then we were locked out for about 20 mins couldnt unlock the door. The bed felt like we was laying on a metal platform, so uncomfortable. Lots of people who were drunk shouting and swearing in the car park right outside our window. We checked in at 4pm and checked out at 7pm. Would of been sooner but we went into Hoddesdon for dinner. Wouldn't recommend and certainly wont be back.

Loved the clean comfortable room .Checking in and out was quick . Loved the Boathouse for breakfast. Lovely stay ,would definitely go again.
The green light in the ceiling was too bright and made getting to sleep difficult.

Location is beautiful and lovely spacious family room. Our room was vacant so the lady on reception generously let us into our room a bit early. This was greatly appreciated ... we were able to get changed as going to a family christening. Beds comfortable and our daughter loved the bunk beds!!
The Boathouse was a lovely location but breakfast was a little disappointing. Scrambled eggs were tasteless ( possibly powdered or liquid). The full breakfast was rather small half a rasher of bacon.

Our room was perfect, plenty of space, the beds very comfortable, bathroom large with a lovely shower
but mainly spotless, so very clean, a big thank you to the staff that take care of the rooms
All the staff in the boathouse cafe also very helpful and friendly and the food very good

Ground floor room and easy access. It was clean and loved the marina location
The bathroom smelt a little off, and the flush was very loud.
