Great space in prime location, just feels a little bare neglected.
The property is located centrally on the Main Street, really handy for accessing all the town has to offer.
It offers great size rooms, comfortable beds, fluffy towels and even tea, coffee and shortbread. We had space to park around the back of the property and there was nothing we reached for that wasn’t provided.
The stairs from the main living area to the bedrooms and only bathroom are exceedingly steep and shallow making for a scary decline. The floor in the main bathroom and second bedroom are very uneven, I u destined it’s an old property but this was disconcerting for a vertigo sufferer. The attention to detail when cleaning was lacking, spiderweb on bathroom window, slimy hand soap bottle in bathroom and crumbs under couch. There was a hoover provided but it didn’t work even after 24hours charging. Cutlery and tableware was short for four of us staying in the property and it just felt a little neglected. Having said that we did enjoy our stay and it wouldn’t put us off going back.

I had a lovely short break and went to the theatre. Mckays is a great hotel to stay in.
Lovely cosy room. Very central for everything. Food was excellent and staff friendly.
The lighting in the restaurant at night was very poor. I noticed a lot of people using phone torches to read the menu. One staff member said it was for nice ambience but in reality I struggled to see the menu and my food. Anyone with poor eyesight I would not recommend going there.

Great location, good food and lovely staff.
Shower room didn't have any heating and there was no where to hang towels

Very disappointing I would not recommend this to anybody
Location
The cottage we stayed in carpet was extremely dirty and stained. Mattress protector was extremely grubby and had stains on it. Floor in the bedrooms You were very lucky you didn’t fall through them. The show was slow and could not adjust the hot to the cold . The cottage needed a big makeover and was quite disappointed to even have put that on the website for people staying in.

We will be back. Really enjoyed our weekend.
Nice room, well decorated. In Townhouse which was not far from the hotel itself.
We were up a few flights of stairs and the carpet hadn’t not been hoovered before our arrival.

The restaurant although it had very good food was a bit pricy.

Great location, very clean and very big room.
Room furnished with furniture too small for room. No heating on, remote control filthy and both bedside lights broken, one had wires exposed.

Pitlochry is beautiful - well worth a visit, but stay somewhere else.
The room was fantastic. Large, spacious, very clean. The food in the restaurant was good (we had dinner and breakfast) - breakfast was especially good. Perfectly positioned in the centre of Pitlochry on the main street.
I've been struggling how to word this since our visit, but the best I can do is that rather than feeling welcomed during our stay, the staff made us feel that we were an inconvenience. This applied while at the reception, to the waiting staff within the restaurant and the staff covering the hotel desk around dinner time.
My daughter and I spent a day and a half in Pitlochry, visited cafes, restaurants, many shops, etc and were met with a warm welcome and care (Victoria's restaurant was exceptionally nice). We had travelled up for the Enchanted Forest experience and the staff supporting the hundreds (thousands?) of visitors (including many families) for that event - in the queues for the coaches, on arrival and throughout paths through the woods, even though they were standing around in the cold and dark - there was no shortage of staff that were friendly, engaging and, well... supportive.
We loved our trip to Pitlochry - it is a beautiful town with a huge amount to offer, but feel let down by the staff at McKays hotel. I'm not sure if they were badly understaffed over those two days - but when I noticed on arrival that at the hotel desk and at the reception point for the restaurant, that there were signs stating that a 'zero tolerance' approach would be taken to any poor treatment of staff, etc. I felt sorry for the staff and was a little shocked that this should ever need to be pointed out. But have to admit, that on leaving I wondered if these signs were there as a result of other visitors had been given cause to feel aggrieved (though I of course agree with the sentiment on the sign entirely).

Lovely room and very quiet
Restaurant. First night it was really noisy. Second night I asked for a table and was given a menu and told to order from the bar. I walked out and didn’t bother trying on the third night

Location was ideal, we enjoyed our stay. Bar music was quite loud, but good!
Room 302 across the road was good, very comfortable. Breakfast was good, enjoyed our stay.
Reception service was a little slow, but they were very busy in the bar area. We left our bags in reception, as we had arrived early. Was fine!

Pitlochry is beautuful, cottage is value for money end of the market. Staff were helpful and friendly
Handy quaint cottage, belonging to the hotel, on the Main Street. Parking in hotel car park.
Two bedrooms, living room, kitchen with dining table and bathroom. Clean hotel quality beds and linen. Walkers shortbread biscuit for each of us. Quality curtains & blinds. Good location. Stayed with friends. Fair price. Staff friendly and helpful.
Cottage tired and needs some investment ‘love’ which was likely reflected in price paid. End of season stay. Suggestions: Coat hooks and boot racks in front hallway. ( plenty room for this available). A small chair in each bedroom. Hooks on back of doors or on walls for dressing gowns/ jackets. A towel rail for our wet used towels in bedroom or bathroom . ( Sharing with another couple, so likely best in bedroom). Small coffee tables, ( lots of stains in carpets where it’s likely mugs of tea spilt). Carpets make cottage warmer in winter, but were very grubby. Did not want to put anything on the floor. Fantastic location, some photos or wall art of area would make a huge difference.

Lovely place to stay but maybe not if you are looking for somewhere quiet at a weekend.
Room was lovely and clean. Cannot fault the breakfast and the staff were very friendly .
The room was on the 1st floor above the restaurant we were not aware that there was entertainment on that evening until the receptionist mentioned it in passing to the couple who were checking in after us. . Please check before you book as it was very noisy till at least midnight with music and people outside.

Great Bar and Hotel
It had entertainment, it is in the centre of everything. Room was nice.
Check in at 4pm. Its quite late if you are only there for a day or two. Or if you have a wedding or party to get dressed for.

Disappointed
Lovely picturesque place, very busy. Nice fish and chips in the chip shop next door.
Breakfast was ok with reasonable choice.
Staff came across as too busy to even smile and not very helpful at reception.
Very loud at night with noises from the street and pub.
Basic hotel room. Bed on the hard side and cleanliness could be better.
On the pricey side for what you get.

I needed a comfortable pit stop and it was. It was also the most reasonably priced option in the area, at short notice.
Rooms are really nice and comfortable. The bar downstairs was nice to relax in after a long day. I thought it might be noisy in the room but it wasn’t at all.
Nothing. It was nice.

Good value, clean rooms and central location.
Our rooms were separate from main hotel which had live music on, so we were glad of the quiet across the road.
Room was new and very clean. Excellent breakfast.
Bed was a bit hard for me.
Bathroom had no shelves or hooks to hang clothes or toilet bags up.
TV was very small.
No mirror near plug in room to dry hair etc. Loads of stairs to room and no lift.

Beautiful hotel in the heart of Pitlochry
We ended up booking this last minute and so glad we did. The decor and size of our room was stunning! The hotel bar/restaurant was fantastic with live music at night. You’re right in the heart of Pitlochry too with all the shops and more pubs/restaurants around you. Love Pitlochry as a town and will hopefully be back to stay at McKays soon!

Once PARKED, location central to all of Pitlokry downtown
Pleasant, quiet room with seating OTHER than using the bed (had a Zoom call just after we got sorted on WiFi). Lovely COMPLETE breakfast ordered off a menu.
STREET parking (only) worked because we arrived after 6 p.m. Needed to move car 8:30 a.m. Several flights UP in townhouse (Seniors, with bags) wouldn’t have been as much a bother if front desk had given us WiFi code at check-in🥺.

Cottage needs refurbished
Location was brilliant. Bedrooms were nice.
We stayed in the cottage. The living room was bland. Dirty carpet , no tables or lamps. Nothing nice about the living room. Bathroom ok. In dire need of a refurb throughout the house
