Pitlochry is doesn’t have much to do at night, would be better if the hostel had activities in the evening, like movies or game nights

Three nights at Pitlochry Backpackers were perfect – the hostel has a fantastic, central location and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. I truly appreciated the cleanliness, comfortable beds, and the excellent communal kitchen and lounge with a pool table. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a friendly and comfortable base for exploring Pitlochry and the surrounding area.

No nonsense friendly hostel in the middle of the town

Last minute decided to swap my tent for a hostel, a friend and I shared a twin room. This is an excellent hostel with character and friendly staff and guests, I had recently spent a week in Fortwilliam backpackers and this one had a similar setup being run by the same team.

Don't change anything or over complicate things, maybe convert one of the outbuilding into a bike store for more than x2 bikes, the Cairngorm loop is the new NC500 for cyclists I'm afraid

Relatively cheap providing pretty much everything we needed for a one night stay. It is a hostel so didn’t expect luxury.

Magical backpackers with a primo location!

Everyone was so lovely and welcoming. Absolutely loved the cute fairy vibes in the living area. Couldn't get a better location and great value for money. Super cheap and filling continental breakfast and great cooking facilities.

One of my favourite places, ideal for Etape Caledonia participants!

I don't think someone who hasn't been would understand me, but the best thing about this hostel is undoubtedly the staff 🥹 This is my second time being there (both times for Etape Caledonia, Pitlochry's busiest day of the year), and they have been absolutely amazing each time! The Backpackers feels like a community, rather than a hostel. Ruth, Ronan, the staff have been amazing, helping us in every way possible, I appreciate that so much! The people I had in my room this year were as great as last year, thank you Alistair, Cameron and Katie! If you are coming to cycle in the gorgeous areas around Pitlochry, this is the place for you. It is right in the town centre, they have bike sheds where you can store your bike safely, the beds are comfortable, the baths are decent, and there is a big lounge/TV room and even a pool table! It is also a perfect location for a hiking trip. It is cheap, with an amazing location and great staff. Will recommend it every time!

Everything was great. I would only recommend giving guests towels (I think they actually do, mine might have simply been forgotten, but I brought one anyway, so it was fine). Literally no complaints from me, and I don't even like hostels generally!

Etape Caledonia stay

Friendly and quick check in. All staff super friendly, especially the bike storage dude (Sorry I forgot his name!). Clean and simple room. Really appreciated the hospitality shown when staying for the Etape Caledonia. A place for my bike to be kept as well as early opening of the kitchen facilities to accommodate people staying for the event. Was able to store my stuff and bike even after check out since I was getting a late train home. Defiantly staying again when in the area ☺️

No where to store belongings in room. I was ok as everyone seemed friendly however have had things stolen in the past so was wary.

Great value for a clean, quiet, comfy room.

We booked a room with two single beds and a private bathroom. The beds were comfy, and the room was very clean. We got exactly what we wanted for a great value. Everything we wanted was within walking distance, and the staff was fabulous. We also bought an a la carte breakfast in the morning that was VERY reasonable.

There was some peeling paint in the bathroom, but it didn't bother us.

waste of money

Very expensive for what is provided. The bed sheets were ripped. The breakfast was very poor quality, with blatent lies on the menu ('homemade scones' presented inside the plastic wrapped packaging. Pay slightly more for an actual restful experience.

The location was perfect. The room was a great size and very clean. The bed was comfortable it was easy to find and had parking. Excellent value

Good location but I would choose something else next time

Staff, location and price were very good if you consider how popular is Pitlochry , but next time I would pay a bit more in order to have a decent sleep.

Unfortunately, the bed was very old and squeaky, plus there was a dead insect on the wall, which nobody seemed to notice for sometime.
