Paradisus by Meliá Bali

Overall an incredible experience of luxury and relaxation. The staff make this hotel that much more special. Perhaps a combination of the natural hospitality and kindness of the Balinese along with the standards of the hotel itself. From the moment we arrived untill the moment we left, we felt comfortable, relaxed and taken care of. We upgraded the Adult only section which did not disappoint. The Reserve and adult only pool area is the perfect place to unwind and enjoy your holiday. We only stayed for a weekend so couldn't make use of the array of excursions and activities on offer, however it seemed very comprehensive. Food - WOW! Great food especially considering an all inclusive offering, good service and a lot of options for those picky eaters out there! Staff very flexible and always served with warmth and a smile. The room! - We stayed in the Master suite which provided us with a very large living area and bedroom. With 2 huge TVs a very well stocked mini bar and 2 great bathrooms. The shower was also very good, pressure and temperature were always up to standard. A nice long balcony also provided but the views were nothing to note although it was facing away from the main hotel areas so a great place if you want a private area to relax. Final shout out to the sunglasses cleaning provided whilst resting at the pool! A lovely touch and great service!

If I had to mention something it would only be the SPA: having been lucky enough to visit multiple spas during our trip in Indonesia it was underwhelming and some facilities were out of order. This is not to say anything about the specific services as we didn't try any of those and I can imagine they are very good. The hot pool had a rather bad smell which we reported to the staff, unusual given everywhere else in the hotel smelled incredible.

Gorgeous location, grounds were so beautifully done with large gardens, water features and the staff were really welcoming and friendly! They all smiled at us and greeted us when we walked by which we loved. The pool was lovely!

The bed was a bit hard, and we woke stiff each morning. We got you to send us another mattress topper which helped. The pillows were lumpy and terrible and not 5 star quality. Please invest in good bedding / especially pillows for comfort as this was the biggest let down of our stay.

Still finding its feet. Hopefully with time it will improve. Staff fantastic, but we did arrive on the official opening weekend and felt like second class citizens compared to all the influencers etc

Breakfast area not near beach. Breakfast always best looking at the water and a breeze. Plenty of potential to use one of the beach location restaurants that open for lunch and dinner only. Some better drink/cocktail deals would be nice.

Location and facilities

Our expectations were set by the many welcome to Paradisus greetings as we arrived from our taxi. They were then immediately dashed. Check-in was at the non-standard 3pm against our expectation of 2pm BUT we were left waiting, saying they’d contact us by WhatsApp when ready, with me making 3 trips back to reception to eventually get access to our room over an hour late. We were told the single bed would be made up later. When we returned from dinner at 8:30 it still wasn’t done. It took a further 30 mins with my daughter sat ready for bed. Frankly it was appalling and ruined the first 24 hours or more, leaving us feeling anxious and stressed when we’d paid a small fortune to relax. Were we compensated or even really apologised to? No. The guy who made up the bed seemed to find it amusing that I was angry.
