A cute hideaway among fish and crabs

I’m so glad I booked a bungalow at Tao Thong villa, away from the busy streets of the center of Koh Tao! Yes, it’s secluded - and that’s exactly what I loved about it. A few tiny beaches nearby, great for snorkeling and reading, a basic but decent restaurant on the premises, peace, tranquility and a beautiful sunset every evening.

I like a firm bed, but this was too hard for me to sleep comfortably. Wish I could have rested better.

The location is great and it was an excellent experience. Less is the new rich. Right at the beach, so quiet (only the sound of breaking waves) and peaceful. Would definitely come again. Breakfast and service was also excellent.

Even the fact that there is only cold water was nothing which really hurt me. And stepping down a lot of stairs was also nothing to complain about.

Gorgeous little hideaway

Very quiet place and my bungalow had a view on the sea. I had the budget bungalow directly above the restaurant and the bed was comfy

Most bungalows are directly at sea with stunning views, others don’t and this is not clear. I was disappointed at first. But when I saw how difficult some bungalows were to reach at high tide I was happy with mine.

Beautiful nature break

I loved this secluded location. Though it’s a little out of the way, for a quiet break there is plenty to do. Due it’s location there are two small beaches and you can chose to snorkel either side. Very laid back atmosphere. Incredible views and a possibility to walk to the small viewpoint or the other resorts restauraunt. Both had stunning views and a good menu ❤️ I was lucky enough to spot an eagle ray too

Great old school fan bungalow on the edge of a cliff, great views and breezes really strong Internet.

Cliffs side bungalow, great breeze ocean sounds. It was kind of Robinson Crusoe, Swiss family Robinson castaway.. There’s no there was no hot shower in my bungalow, but otherwise it was a really nice day.

Missed the hot shower. the entrance of the place when you come off the road it’s not too glamorous. Concrete steps are a bit dangerous

Relaxing stay at a very special place

The location is stunning, you can snorkel with turtles, watch incredible sunsets and it’s far off from the busy parts of the island and more secluded. The houses are very basic but have everything you need and they take great care of the place so it all looks good. I won’t forget all the beautiful sunsets I watched from my terrace

Read their description of the place it will tell you everything you need to know. If you are scared of animal encounters it might not be the perfect place for you but I had a wonderful stay there and the staff were always responsive and kind, helping you in any way they could.

Beautiful spot

Nice basic room with little porch with Stunning view at a small privet beach . The room is very basic and you should take under consideration a lot of stairs and a distance from the city which can be reached only by taxi or scooter. You can snorkel there, not the best spot but still many beautiful fish, and the nicest is that it is very quiet and private area.

The place has a restaurant, not the best food, but ok, since it is quite isolated it’s the main place, it closes at 20:00 so you need to bear in mind .

Beautiful location, peaceful, serene.

View is so unreal you can just sit on the balcony and watch the waves for hours on end. Their resturant hangs over the water and makes you feel a bit like your in the hull of an old wooden ship, in the best way possible. Also have chess and other games you can play there.

The beach is not exactly swimmable, with so much dead coral that even in crocs it’s not a fun experience. Staff were adequate but quiet and reserved, so if your after that then all good.

We arrived in the early morning and the owner checked us in before the hours. We did not like the old bungalow and decided to switch to the deluxe version. It was perfect (but watch out for spiders in the bathroom as it has open sealing 🤣). The owner was very helpful: ordered a boat trip, helped to arrange scooter rental (it is at the top of the hill; the owner is a great guy, just talk to him. He also provides taxi services for the resort). Restaurant had fair prices (mind opening hours, till 4 PM; alternatively - check Siam Cookies Bandana Rock Bar in the area for the late dining)

There is a huge difference in standard between old and deluxe bungalows. Old bungalow was not clean in general. Fridge,hammock,fan,walls,terrace were in a very bad condition.

Beautiful and remote beach location with very basic accommodation.

The staff were great and very helpful in answering all my questions, booking my ferry and allowing me to have a late checkout. I really appreciated that the hotel has their own taxi service that is much more affordable than booking with another private taxi company. Really amazing and affordable meals cooked at the restaurant. The location is very quiet and beautiful and you have a private beach right on site. Also really great snorkeling here (other boats come to the same spot because the snorkeling is so great).

Although the location was beautiful, it is very far away from everything else on the island. You will have to either rent a motorbike or take a taxi to get into the main area with shops or see any other sites. This was OK for me because I wanted a relaxing and quiet stay, however, it would've been nice to go into town a little more often to see other sites and check out restaurants. The beds also weren't overly comfortable, but for the price this was fine. Finally, the bathrooms are very very basic and are also somewhat open to the outdoors (gap between roof and walls, and gaps in the walls for ventilation). This means bugs and geckos were often in the bathroom. Again, for the price this is fine and they are harmless so it wasn't a huge deal but it is something to be aware of.

Beautiful location and great beach. The sunset! Competitive price. Really calm and not too far away - just rent a motorbike in the port.

Didn't feel clean. Slept in my own blankets. The bungalow stank of smoke which was impossible to get rid of. Everything is rather old. For example, you can see it on the yellowed plastic details and rusty metal.

Nice place to visit for nature and the location

Great place to relax and stay on the island. We got confronted with some wildlife in our room when we arrived (a spider a lot bigger than we were used to at home). We had some other 'visitors' in the days after which is to be expected on this location. The huts are really basic but have everything you would need I would say. Food at the restaurant was good and the staff is helpful in arranging transport. Snorkeling: The snorkeling at the resort is nice with a great variety of species although it might be a bit hard to get in the water at low tide. Infront of the restaurant you may encounter some glass in the water. If you are on your bare feet just swim as soon as possible and watch your steps. Your probably better of with something to protect your feet but watch out for the coral! Bike rental: Close to the accomodation you can rent a scooter at "Brigthon", really new and high quality bikes. Which is nice regarding the fact that you do need your brakes a lot on this island. Renting one went really smooth and you have the option to leave your passport or 5k baht. Great way to discover the island! Nearby: There is not a lot nearby which is what I liked about the resort; it is really quiet. There is however a bar located on top of the hill from which the sunset is even better than at the restaurant at the resort. It is only a 5min walk uphill which is pretty steep but totally worth it! Would really recommend going there before sunset!

Hospitality/friendliness of the owners lacked a bit especially on our first day. Seemed a bit annoyed or irritated, not sure why. Definitely in contrast to all our other stays in Thailand
