Pleasant stay in Assava Resort

Location is amazing, very quite and tons of things around to see. Most delicious Thai restaurants located max in 5 min drive with a bike. I did my open water and advance diving certification here and it was amazing experience! Shout out to Rod! We had a bungalow with a garden view but honestly as I saw all bungalows have small sea view! Room was clean and tidy. Every day we got glass bottlers water and new towels(by request). For sure would come back!

We had a mouse between the roof and our ceiling, they exchanged our room in a few hours!

There was a very lovely garden; it was a nice, quiet place, with nice cafes and restaurants close by.

Lovely stay

The location was nice with a few restaurants around but not to loud. There is also a free shuttle to the pier which is brilliant. I would also highly recommend doing a diving course here as everyone was so kind and it was a lot of fun!

My only comment was that sometimes reception were very slow and didnt seem to know what was going on and they also didn't seem to clean the dorms regularly so we had a lot of ants in our room but nothing too bad.

Enjoyed very much

The resort is beautiful with pastoral views and country vibes. Close to restaurants, 7-11, shark bay. There is a beach in the resort, small but beautiful.

Facilities in the bungalow are outdated, especially bathroom. For me that was not crucial at all and our stay was still very nice. There’s a lot of mosquitoes and it seems like the resort doesn’t take any action to struggle with them.

Go for it without a second thought

There cannot be a better located dorm! I love that the dorms are in the resort, you get access to all the resort amenities at the price of a dorm. It was clean, well kept, and extremely affordable. The staff clean the grounds every day to remove fallen leaves. There are also some adorable dogs that roam about the property :) My favourite part though was the bean bags on the beach! Best way to unwind. I also tried the restaurant for a meal, the food was great.

The air conditioning in the room struggled quite a bit, especially during day time. They should consider putting at least a fan to help circulate the air. There should be a 24 hour drinking water source easily accessible.

a pleasant visit that fulfill our diving experience

The hotel belongs to our diving school, so it was very comfortable for dive courses participants. The room and the area was clean, quiet and very beautiful. The stay has included transfer from and to the pier - this made our arrival very comfortable.

Some of the hotel staffs were a bit difficult to communicate, we went to have a breakfast in the morning and the staff could not communicate neither Thai nor English with us.

Restaurant on beach Planning dives was a breeze The dives and instructors and guides were great! Great location.

It would have been nice to have some mtn bikes for rent to help get back and forth to the pier. I guess I need to learn to ride a scooter/motor bike. They had those available for rent. Also, really happy that the taxi driver was available to give rides, as needed. And still pleased with the location, secluded enough from the noisy area but still restaurants, shops, yoga studio, currency exchange and 7/11 nearby

Lovely Little peaceful chill out resort, close enough to everything you need

Lovely location, just off the main road away from the noise. Really cute little set up of bungalows that lead to the sea and some lovely areas with bean bags and over the water hammocks to relax, I spent a whole day there just chilling and it was perfect after 3 full on days of diving. The beach isn’t really a beach as the tide is high in the day, but you can still enjoy the sea. The rooms are simple but have what you need, i loved the little outside sitting area on the bungalow veranda, a nice little spot to cool down, read a book and listen to the birds. It is close to shark bay and view point i walked and it took about 12mins, some steep inclines but the viewpoint is worth it. Lovely helpful staff from picking me up from my dive accommodation, to checking in early to helping me book my ferry ticket on possibly the busiest day (full moon), they could not get me a ticket at the resort, so took me to the main office at the pier where i was able to buy the last ticket to catch my flight. on my last day i missed the shuttle into town for my ferry and i was taken in the golf cart in the pouring rain, very grateful for the lift. There is an amazing little cafe place called Big Bite on the corner as you turn off the main road, lovely spot for breakfast, i had the smoothie bowl and avocado on toast it was amazing and great coffee, see pic

Love it! Everything! Booked a dorm but got an upgrade to a bungalow. The whole complex was beautiful and clean. Beachfront with nice beanbags and hammock. Ate at the restaurant once and it was so good! Did Discover scuba diving at their diving Centre and it was the best time I’ve ever had. They’re all such nice people. Loved it here

This is a very beautiful place to stay. The design of the bungalows is very aesthetic, and the outside area, pool etc is taken care of. Very clean. Helpful staff. Amazing view from the front restaurant.

I stayed in the shared room and the bed was very uncomfortable. I stayed only one night even though I booked two - the staff was very helpful about it. The reason was that I didn't want to stay in a shared place. As a solo traveller, I could not afford to stay in one of the bungalows but they looked really great.

A great place to hang out and to learn diving

The grounds of this resort are beautiful. The restaurant serves excellent food and the views from the restaurant are wonderful. There was a nice breeze in the evenings during our stay. The dive center was very professional and everybody was very welcoming. We felt we were in good hands. There are nice bungalows situated in a garden setting and also a few dorm rooms which makes for a great mix of people. Our room was newly updated and the robes were a very nice and unexpected touch. Lots of restaurants and coffee shops close by, and yet, we found ourselves quite often at the resort restaurant, because it was so chill.

Our room was a little less expensive than the bungalows but sadly overlooked the parking lot.

Lovely communal area on the beach front. The location was good. You could take a short moped ride to anywhere you wanted to visit on the island.

The accommodation didn't feel luxurious - it felt basic and had a caravan vibe. Given the expensive price I was expecting more from the accommodation. We decided to move to another hotel after a couple of days for the same price but had better accommodation. We didn't dive with them.

On a charming beach. Close enough to everything on the island (which can be explored easily by renting a scooter just outside the resort). Incredible and super well maintained common space - garden, swimming pool, beachfront area, restaurant. In front of the beach, with lots of nature. All amazing staff, very welcoming, professional and kind! Silent bungalow, comfy bed and nice wifi and AC.

the bungalow was comfortable and ideally sized however it needs of some improvements: no hooks or holders for towels and clothes; there is no division between the shower and the toilet; there is a very bad smell from the toilet that sometimes returns waste from third parties; the key did not lock the bungalow.

Lovely pool and amazing seating area which looks over the beach. Perfect hotel for people looking to dive. Close to a look out point if you like hiking.

Good

The location is very nice, just next to Chalok bay, and you can walk down to Freedom beach from there as well (15-20 min walk). The resort is very well taken care of, cute, and there are some nice tables and puffs to seat next to the water. The 4-shared room is Ok, nothing fancy but Ok. The annoying part is that the toilet floor is always wet after someone takes a shower, but that happens in many toilets around SEA (it's how they are designed). The one nice thing is the balcony in front of the room. The location and external facilities make it worth the stay in the shared rooms if you're on a tight budget. You can watch spectacular sunsets just from the front of the resort, aprox. 50m from the dorms!

location was fine. rented a bike it was 10 mins drive to most things on the island

bathroom smelled absolutely rancid, water also smelled terrible. tried to contact the staff about this but were unable to find english speaking staff. additionally there were ants EVERYWHERE in the bedroom and bathroom! staff we interacted with were passive and had quite negative attitudes bedsheets were not changed in 5 nights of staying and pillows had mould on them pool was always in use by divers ended up using the pool next door (not sure if allowed but absolutely lovely) would have rather of stayed there at fisherman’s - the vibe was so much nicer.

loved the shower, and interior design—clean and modern with bright colors. loved the beach front lounge area, it’s the nicest on the entire beach. the staff were helpful and efficient, and the pool area was nice as well.

the building where I stayed was like a condominium about 20 meters away from rear of the bungalow area, so about a 2 min walk to the beach, which felt kinda far, like I wasn’t really staying by the beach and I didn’t find it so proximal that I was wanting to go enjoy the lounge area. the staff didn’t bring me water everyday so I had to grab some when they were around and cleaning rooms.

The door was clean and the bathroom really nice. They have a really cool area to have a drink in front of the sea. They have a free shuttle waiting for you when you land on the island. Even though the hotel isn’t far by car (6min) from town, be aware there are not many taxi and they charge you a lot of money to drop you off at the hotel. They can call the shuttle for you for 100 bath, much cheaper than other taxis.

The place was really noisy. Each time a room would use shower, we would hear some noise. This is due to the counter located outside. The staff wasn’t really friendly. They have a restaurant at the hotel and pretended we couldn’t pay by card until we realized you actually can request to pay by card at the reception for your bill.
