Echo Koh Tao Hostel & Diving

Big private room with balcony for a good price, very close to the pier & the beach and a nice bar/restaurant upstairs with good food & friendly staff :)

The atmosphere: It is build in a way that attracts social environment and people to hang out - on the top floor with bar, tables, sofas and pool. With nice view to the street and can see the sea too. I mean even if you are staying in other place on that street it is a nice place to come and have a drink or food there and maybe meet new people. They organise snorkeling and diving tours so probably lot of the people are there around that subject too. In general nice place, friendly environment of travelers less or more... The room i stayed at - with balcony: Loved the design of the room.. nice and intresting. The balcony watching on the main way of this area with travelers coming travelrs from the bay.. it was nice to sit and enjoy it. Nice lighting, leds and warm lights...

The atmosphere: Could be more friendly... The people in the bar been traveling volunteers and some of them felt to me a little bit salty, maybe tired... I dont know. i been there everyday for a week for hour or two.. and it could be more friendly and welcoming environment by the staff (for my opinion). I dont know why they been a bit off... Could have improvement in hospitality to be greater place. I dont know... maybe, i just used to the friendly thai people that are giving more happy friendly vibe attitude... The room: The toilet-shower room build in a way that it got like three strange steps inside them insted of just flat floor... Almost fell couple of times on them.. a bit unconvinient. Every shower-toilet visit been an adventure, cause i always forgot about this difference of the floor. Not even a sign of causion about it. There is enough space under the door to let all the sounds and the noise at 8am from the staff going and talking outside the door and the maintenance of the place.. so couldnt sleep after 8am at the days i been there. The switching for them are a bit strange made... The lower once next to the bed i had to stand up from the bed to turn them off and on.. and the other ones almost need a ladder to use them... Like two meters high... (Anyway this is only my opinion and expirience - and it could be that this style of place will feel better to others.)

Bathrooms were always clean and they have this nice „balcony“/ communal area with activities, food and drinks.

Good location

The room did not look as advertised, there was no duvet only a fluffy blanket on the bed. The room was scruffy and didn’t look or feel clean at all. At around 12pm every day our shower would gurgle and release the worst smell that would linger for around 2 hours. It was unbearable we couldn’t stay in the room during this time. We were also woken up by construction disturbances at 9:30am 2 mornings of our stay. We weren’t made aware that the hostel was under construction upon check in. The work was going on just across the hall from our room and rubble from the works fell in under our doorway and into our room. Was very dissapointed with this stay.
