Although the hotel does not have a reception, two days before my arrival I received an email with detailed instructions on how to collect the keys. The instructions were very clear, even with photos included, so the check-in process was simple and stress-free.
Inside the apartment, there was a printed guide with useful information such as the nearest bus stop (right outside the hotel), nearby grocery stores, and other essentials, which I found very convenient.
The apartment itself was well equipped, just as advertised — a washing machine, a dishwasher, a coffee machine, and a kettle. The coffee machine makes really good coffee, and detergent capsules were provided for both the washing machine and the dishwasher. The wardrobe with hangers made it easy to organize my clothes, and upon request, I was promptly given an ironing board and iron.
There is also a TV, but I couldn’t watch movies online and all the channels were in French. Luckily, I came to Luxembourg to explore the city, not to watch television, so this wasn’t a problem for me.
The location is also quite good in terms of public transport, with two bus stops nearby that take you to the main attractions. Just keep in mind that you may need to change buses if you are traveling outside the city center, for example to Vianden Castle.
However, unfortunately, all these advantages were overshadowed by the major disadvantages I described below.
From the very first moment I entered the apartment, I noticed an unpleasant smell, which was also present in the staircase. Unfortunately, it never disappeared throughout my entire stay, despite keeping the windows open day and night.
Another disappointment was that, unlike what some reviews mentioned, there was no complimentary bottled water provided in the room. After a long trip, I had to go out to a store immediately, which was quite inconvenient. The same applies to the coffee capsules and tea bags: the quantity is calculated strictly per day of your stay, with no consideration for the fact that I was not traveling alone.
The bathroom also left much to be desired. The shower cabin had visible mold, and the shampoo provided was already used — the bottle was more than half empty. Personally, I find it unhygienic to use toiletries that are not new.
During the night, I was further disappointed to find someone else’s hair under the pillow, even though the bedding looked clean at first sight. Sleeping was also difficult due to the noise. The hotel is located above a restaurant, whose guests usually leave only around midnight. In addition, the windows face a busy road with constant traffic of cars and buses. Closing the windows did not help, so I would say there is no real soundproofing. If you are a light sleeper, I cannot recommend this place. Not all windows had curtains, and there were no mosquito nets. In addition, there was a large gap under the entrance door to the building, so light (and sometimes noise) constantly came through.
Overall, I found the hotel more disappointing than satisfactory. I would not choose to stay here again because of the lack of proper cleanliness, the unpleasant smell, and the very poor sound insulation.
