Very relaxing place to stay.

Would not go back!

Light room

Cramped bathroom with a light that came on automatically when entering the bathroom, this was very annoying during the night and could not be switched off! Also bathroom had very low doorway, not good for tall husband! Also breakfast has to be selected the night before! Really disliked having to decide what you want to eat hours before!

Location, lovely woodland walk into Sidmouth. Stayed in Heather Suite with our dog which was perfect. Breakfast was fabulous and the tasting menu at dinner was amazing. Highly recommend.

Surprised and delighted. A Jem discovered close to the Jurassic Coast!

The location was ideal—excellent walks, especially to Sidmouth. The accommodation suite was warm and comfortable, and, blessed with fine weather, it had a private garden to relax in. (Unfortunately, we were treated to a massive thunderstorm.) The hosts were friendly and welcoming. The food was exceptional - fine dining at its finest! The breakfast obviously did not disappoint. Andrew, host and chef, learned his craft in the UK's finest catering establishments and has tutored trainee chefs at catering colleges.

Excellent chilled out stay

Excellent from start to finish. Location is a short walk away for the centre of Sidmouth via a lovely wooded/river walk. The Heather Suite was clean and we had all we needed for a comfortable stay. Dog friendly and our Stanley loved the doggy basket of goodies (especially the socks!) Dinner and breakfast were both excellent and it was lovely the chef came out to check all was ok and of there was anything else we needed. We will be back next year without a doubt. Thank you.

Perfect overnight stay within short distance of coast.

Very comfortable room. Easy access to car park. Within walking distance of lovely pub which saved us taking the car out again in the evening. Great afternoon tea, and plenty of choice for breakfast.

Top of my list

Excellent place to stay if you want to visit the Jurassic Coast. Great facilities in a historic setting Better described as "Restaurant with rooms" as the food was incredible!! Fabulous breakfast, and high quality evening menu in the restaurant Wonderful welcome from Annette and Andy, nothing was too much trouble

A real treat!!!

We came to stay at the Salty Monk during the Sidmouth Folk Festival, and really valued coming back to our lovely quiet, relaxing room every evening. The bed was really comfy, the bathroom was spotlessly clean and everything was provided for - fluffy towels, dressing gowns, toiletries, tea/coffee tray with biscuits and fresh milk. Breakfast was amazing!!! We had the fresh fruit and coconut chia poke bowl which we loved, and the smoked salmon with poached eggs was delicious. Annette and Andy are great hosts - we will definitely come back again if we are in the area.

A great weekend away, very happy with our choice - both for accommodation and food

Excellent location, with lovely walk to Sidmouth town and seafront . We enjoyed our breakfasts and were lucky to eat in the restaurant one evening - superb food in relaxed surroundings. Annette and Andy are super hosts ; friendly and welcoming and good local knowledge. We will be back next year !

Friendly, welcoming host. Very clean room. Very hospitable of dogs, provided a lovely welcome basket with biscuits and poo bags. Good communication with host, easy to park. There are a couple of nice pubs close by and a Spar up the road. Short drive to the beach and a lovely walk there.

The breakfast order form was difficult to understand. While we appreciated the efforts of our host, the breakfast wasn't to our taste and the portions were incredibly large meaning lots of waste. Some of the decor was a bit tired and in need of repair in places.

The room was spacious, with thortful touches such as homemade biscuits and eco toiletries. And a friendly Teddy bear. The bed was comfy and it was peaceful in the property. The food was delicious 😋 and particularly great for those of us that are coeliacs...the owners really understand the condition and are very inclusive with there excellent food offering.

Lovely place to stay near the coast, staff were very friendly and accommodating. The bedroom was spotlessly clean and there was a treat for our dog too! We'll definitely be back in the summer when the weather is better.

Perfect few days in Salty Monk at Sidford.

Breakfast was delicious with a huge selection and gluten free options. Restaurant for evening meal was fantastic. Lovely garden area with plenty of parking space in car park. Great hosts with lovely historical property. Room was private and perfectly suited our needs.

We liked everything - the only small thing was bathroom window does not open to enable ventilation but easily remedied by opening door of room.
