The staff were very friendly which made our short one night stop over a good experience

The room is a little tired and needs decorating, there were a few bits that could be fixed easily like the toilet roll holder and it was add real value to the experience. The TV screen images size wasnt right. But as i have said above, staff were really helpful so this is only intended to assist improving things.

Pleasant stay

The property was centrally located for the purpose of our trip. Staff were very helpful & very pleasant, could not fault them. Room was tastefully decorated, bed lovely & comfortable Breakfast was included in the price & very tasty swell as good selection to choose from I would return

Unfortunately the carpet on the stairs & entrance area could either be replaced or cleaned it was very sticky Bedroom door & bathroom door could be cleaned better, some dirt marks I believe there are new owners recently and they are updating the venue.

Very pleasant staff, location good as town centre a short bus ride or 30 minute walk. We had a twin room (Connaught), beds were clean and comfortable, excellent shower the room had, I suspect, been recently redecorated. Breakfast was good.

Although room decor was reasonable why wasn’t the carpet replaced at the same time? Room cleanliness was ok, however, the covered lampshade was full of dust, evident when the light was switched on. Only one bedside lamp. The stair carpet outside the letting rooms badly needs replacing.

A very pleasant pub in a convenient location.

I didn't have an evening meal. The breakfasts were quite good, freshly cooked, and the choice was flexible to vary a bit from the menu. The ensuite room was very smart and the shower excellent.

It would have been nice to offer muesli (not granola) and yogurt for breakfast plus some fruit.

The room was immaculate and comfortable, the bathroom was stunning and the breakfast was wonderful. Would completely stay again.

The bar staff in the afternoon were limited on giving information on getting into the town, I’d already tried Google so asked for local knowledge as I’m not from the area.

Brilliant staff, comfortable room and excellent value for money

The staff were all exceptional. Extremely welcoming with a great customer service ethos. The room was great and the beds and pillows are possibly the best I’ve ever experienced. The breakfast was delicious, with a very good range of options available. The only very slight quibble that stopped this from being a 10 was the limited availability of drinks and food on the evening (my friend had to have her third choice of wine as the first two were unavailable) and several menu items were not available. I understand that they were awaiting a delivery

Rooms are extremely worn .. looks like dog chewed wooden bedroom furniture …broken glass tops of bedside taped up ..black mould +++ in shower Shower rail collapses ..sink tap rusty and heavily marked/ sticky on the top Loo roll holder collapses Huge scuffs on the walls .. don’t believe pictures Stairwell and stairs smell heavily of cat wee !! Carpet rotten on stairs threadbare holes . Entrance at rear if hotel need hoovering dusting And remove the vermin bait box Cook needs to wash her chefs top .. filthy greasy omg… Staff were friendly and absolutely wonderful No food except breakfast so website out of date No food for 3 months apparently as advised by local Fantastic quiz night .thank you Beds were good 👍. Fan in bathroom not working full of debris New owners apparently..well they were sat down as we walked by to get to accommodate Not a word ..hello etc not a greeting and to rub it in they were eating fried food but we were told no food Blessing maybe Fingers crossed they get to work on these rooms asap ..the hotel inspector would have gone to town on them and then gone home Such potential here could be fabulous Bar staff area treasure as are customers Sort out the broken crappy furniture in the rooms and the breakfast area .. make it enjoyable and welcoming..update throw out .lick of paint and this could be a goldmine Good luck

Great value place for a one night stopover. I'd have been happy to stay longer if I'd needed.

Clean, comfortable large room. Shower with a proper screen so water didn't go all over the floor (and it drained properly), Nice modern fittings in bathroom. Bed quite firm but was comfortable. Quiet enough to sleep with window open despite fronting on to the road. Friendly welcome from Ollie. Friendly bar staff too when I stopped in for a pint after my evening walk to the beach.

No one on hand to take breakfast order. I had to go to the kitchen to find staff.

A room not a rest.

A modern room with a decent bathroom, reasonably priced that included breakfast, but little soundproofing from the noisy pub & band. We appreciated the lady who came in early to get us fed at 8 am as we were walking the SWCP but not the chef who left at 3 pm necessitating another two mile walk to eat in the evening.

Breakfast was very good. Staff friendly. Easy to walk into sidmouth. Lovely weather as we walked along the Byes down the side of the river to the beach.

Disappointed that there was no evening meal facilities but understand this is temporary. Hopefully it will be available next time we go.
