Above and beyond.

Thank you for making us and our 4 legged friend so welcome. The Dukes is the most dog friendly place I've ever been. The staff are so so friendly and really care about what they do. There are so many unique, great little touches in your stay that highlight the 'above and beyond' service. Thanks!

Delightful hotel

The Hotel was in a great location with all staff very attentive and helpful. Hotel has a modem and fresh interior and room was spacious and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was cooked to order with lots of choice. Reserved parking available on request but lots of carpark options nearby.

Lovely stay would recommend to others.

Staff were great. Room clean and comfortable, good breakfast, felt well worth what I paid for room.

This is only minor. Room was a cold on arrival, radiator had not been put on. It took a while for room to heat up. I would have appreciated radiator being put on in advance as I was arriving late in the evening and it being January.

Wonderful, friendly hotel that we would be more than glad to experience again.

Exceptional service from staff. Also very friendly and helpful at all times. Love the nespresso machine in the room. The shower room was beautifully warm - a huge bonus when the weather is very cold - and well appointed. Food was good and the layout of the dining areas attractive and inviting. Great breakfast too. Being there in the middle of a named storm meant we could watch the huge waves crashing over the sea wall from the safety and comfort of the hotel dining rooms - wonderful views! Wonderful position - excellent staff.

A king size bed would always be appreciated in a hotel of this standard. Mugs too large to enjoy espresso coffee. Wonderful selection of various sweet snacks were available for guests - a few savoury ones would have been appreciated - nuts would not be good, but small cheese biscuits or pretzels could be a savoury option. A non-slip mat in the wonderful huge shower would have been good. We used the bath mat. Also a shelf in the shower for toiletries would make a difference.

Stayed at sister hotel The Elizabeth. Great room overlooking the sea just yards away. Good amenities. Generous breakfast. Staff friendly and helpful. Good parking, included in the price paid. All in all a very comfortable stay.

Very relaxing comfortable stay

Great location on the esplanade. Pretty outdoor space. Cosy but laid back feel very relaxing. Staff friendly and attentive. We had not paid for breakfast but they did offer “non resident” breakfast which was very good and several groups came in for breakfast while we were there. Our room was lovely with a double plus a single bed, ample tea and coffee supplies and boiling hot water. Even a help yourself sweet counter on the landing! Had car parking space directly outside. Excellent, can’t fault it.

A very enjoyable stay

The location was perfect, our room was compact but well furnished, very comfortable and a lovely view of the sea. The food in the evening was delicious. I would certainly stay again, it’s a really nice pub/restaurant/hotel.

Our room was up two flights of stairs which could be a problem for people with limited mobility, and the bathroom was very small.

Good weekend break

The rooms were clean with good facilities. Staff were attentive and polite. Breakfast and dinner was of a very good standard. Absolutely perfect for our weekend break, very enjoyable stay.

Would have been nice to have had a lift but due to the age of the building we understand why it wouldn't be possible, it's absence did not detract from our stay. Car parking was difficult.

A fabulous one night stay.

Exceptional customer service, primarily driven by a positive attitude among ALL the staff. Manager Dan has cultivated an uncommonly cheerful, helpful team of young people in a busy seaside hotel.

The room was compact, in particular the bathroom. But this was made clear before arrival via the booking process.

5 star treatment and facilities at an affordable price!

Excellent room with sea view. Very clean, room and spotless bathroom, lovely bedding and good quality towels. We had a super supper in the restaurant with friendly helpful staff. We loved the sweet trolley in the corridor and how we could replenish our room tea and coffee facilities. We will be back!

Good central stay in delightful Sidmouth

Perfect location, room OK with everything I needed. Very convenient parking. Breakfast pretty good.

The shower needs attention and adjustment. It was quite difficult to use. I wasn't given much information about access and had to ring up to find out once I reached Sidmouth. The thing I liked least was that I was right at the top - two and a half flights of stairs - and I'm 78 with a bad back and luggage. I would also have liked check-out to be 11 rather than 10:30.
