A very enjoyable stay

The location was perfect, our room was compact but well furnished, very comfortable and a lovely view of the sea. The food in the evening was delicious. I would certainly stay again, it’s a really nice pub/restaurant/hotel.

Our room was up two flights of stairs which could be a problem for people with limited mobility, and the bathroom was very small.

Good weekend break

The rooms were clean with good facilities. Staff were attentive and polite. Breakfast and dinner was of a very good standard. Absolutely perfect for our weekend break, very enjoyable stay.

Would have been nice to have had a lift but due to the age of the building we understand why it wouldn't be possible, it's absence did not detract from our stay. Car parking was difficult.

A fabulous one night stay.

Exceptional customer service, primarily driven by a positive attitude among ALL the staff. Manager Dan has cultivated an uncommonly cheerful, helpful team of young people in a busy seaside hotel.

The room was compact, in particular the bathroom. But this was made clear before arrival via the booking process.

5 star treatment and facilities at an affordable price!

Excellent room with sea view. Very clean, room and spotless bathroom, lovely bedding and good quality towels. We had a super supper in the restaurant with friendly helpful staff. We loved the sweet trolley in the corridor and how we could replenish our room tea and coffee facilities. We will be back!

Good central stay in delightful Sidmouth

Perfect location, room OK with everything I needed. Very convenient parking. Breakfast pretty good.

The shower needs attention and adjustment. It was quite difficult to use. I wasn't given much information about access and had to ring up to find out once I reached Sidmouth. The thing I liked least was that I was right at the top - two and a half flights of stairs - and I'm 78 with a bad back and luggage. I would also have liked check-out to be 11 rather than 10:30.

Have been enjoying sporadic visits to Dukes Inn, Sidmouth for at least 12 years.

Breakfasts generous.

1st night in small single room which unfortunately was very noisy (hotel CH system immediately below?) I did not ask to change room but when I answered their enquiry honestly re sleep, I was promptly relocated - which was much appreciated.

We had a Sea View room which unlike some places you actually got a good view of the sea. The room was comfortable and clean. Most importantly it’s extremely dog friendly. They had put dog beds and treats in the room. We were able to have the dogs with us for dinner and breakfast which was great. The food was also really good, both dinner and breakfast.

Room - coffee machine - espresso great. Breakfast - full breakfast wasn't required and a simple change accommodated Dinner - fresh fish, nice large portion.

Room on second floor. Both wife and I have worn knees .I am 82 and struggled at having to use stairs several times a day. We live in a bungalow. Nobody's fault I hasten to add.

A very central location - a perfect position, convenient for everything in Sidmouth. Hotel set back from the front but our room had a decent sea view. Managed to get a hotel parking space. The welcome to the hotel by Leandro was excellent - warm, friendly, funny and genuine. A great first impression. Room large and very comfortable. Modern bathroom, fabulous shower! Excellent food, particularly good breakfast. Jars of free sweets on the landing a nice touch! All staff members we encountered were excellent - everybody was friendly and professional and showed real enthusiasm - but Leandro was a star. A great stay and we’d definitely stay again.

At £178 a night I was surprised the bed wasn’t made up once over a 3 night stay. The curtains didn’t meet in the middle meaning the room was floodlit all night and allowed daylight in early. Such a simple thing to put right!

Overall stay very good would recommend

Good-sized room, clean well laid out bedroom, clean well-presented shower & toilet facilities. Good breakfast provided in the price.

Steep stairs up to the room, 2 flights, we only had overnight bags , cases would have been a real pain. Only 2 little milk pots in the tea & coffee layout, curtains are poorly fitting so let in a lot of light late at night & first thing in the morning. After flushing the toilet, some 30 to 60 seconds later it would part flush on its own, great waste of water, maintenance need to look at this. Water waste over a year must be considerable.

I made a last minute change to my dates. Dukes were unable to fit me in, but arranged for my booking to be transferred to the Elizabeth Hotel next door for no extra charge. Staff went above and beyond to accommodate us.

Nice property very close to beach

Gt location.nice single room with everything you could think of provided. Nice touch of extra milk/tea/coffee provided at landing station.able to leave luggage until needed.

Not enough light on first part of stairs to room 1.light came on when i was halfway up.being older person with osteporosis this makes me nervous of narrow steps.room not serviced daily but would be used to this next time.first experience of rooms not being serviced daily. Breakfast was a buffet @15£.incl not a good choice for me.not being a breakfast eater i like just coffee and croissant or bun Maybe a price list of items sepparately provided for small eaters.having said that several coffee shops nearby but didnt open until 9am.

Comfortable and convenient

The location was excellent. Just a few steps to the seafront and shopping area. The room was spacious and had everything required for a short stay. Good ensuite facility. The coffee machine was a lovely touch. I didn't have breakfast or food in the restaurant so cannot comment. The full length mirror and ironing board came in handy as I was attending a wedding.

The room overlooked an inner courtyard with an extractor fan. I was able to draw the curtains during the day to keep the room cooler so was able to sleep without having to open the window.
