A lovely hotel.

The hotel was beautiful, the location of hotel was great for a walk up to the beach front and into the town. The breakfast was delicious and the waitress was very attentive.

We were a little upset that we didn't get the twin room we'd booked, we were given a king size bed. When I asked about it the receptionist said, she knew that I'd requested a twin room as it was on her paperwork, but was unable to give us the twin. Luckily it was myself and my daughter. It was a shame though. The room was a little tired, it could do with a lick of paint.

The Royal Glen is such a beautiful and characterful old house, it was a real pleasure to stay there.

Affordable Autumn getaway

Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Parking very easy. Location excellent (close to the beach and centre). Pool was clean and warm. Good choice of fruit, cereals and fresh-to-order food for breakfast.

Rooms and decor are very dated, shower a mere trickle, beds are on the hard side, condensation on windows, no fridge in the room, no gowns and slippers for the pool. Hot food items at breakfast lacked love (could have beeen prepared with more care). This sounds like a long list of negatives but we would very happily stay here again for a night or two.

Relaxing in traditional Gothic hotel with sea views and velvet soft furnishings in the welcoming Bar

Beautiful historical building and a great location. I liked the plentiful on site car park. Staff were all very helpful and friendly. Breakfast offered numerous fresh fruits and cereals plus a good choice of cooked items. Fabulous Drawing Room upstairs where Queen Victoria would have sat overlooking the gardens and sea.

Wonderful food in a small hotel with lovely staff, close to the beach

Breakfast was excellent as were all the meals served in the hotel. The restaurant and bar staff were fantastic, nothing was too much bother and they were all so friendly and helpful. First impression of the room was that it was small and cramped but it wasn't a problem because of all the available lounges that could be used and the outdoor seating in good weather. The pool and gym looked good but we didn't have the time to use them. The location was perfect for a walk down to the sea and the gardens.

Nothing really, the size of the room was the only thing we were disappointed with initially but once we realised there were other options to sit in comfort it was fine.

We had a pleasant stay with all the main points well done. Great location.

Excellent location, very quaint and period feel. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was tasty and reasonable value. Free parking on site. We had help with our bags at check-in. Bathroom was huge and very modern.

We had a suite which gave us more space but that’s about it. No bathrobes, no fridge in room. There is a nice pool but you have to go outside to get to it but this is only a few metres.

Swift breakfast service. Beautiful location near sea front.

Room's sofa had stitching undone, needed repair. No hooks for outdoor coats on room door. No grab rail in shower. Difficult to see TV from sofa. Breakfast room/restaurant was almost a basement with virtually no natural light/windows.

Staff gave us a warm welcome and showed us to our lovely room .this was spacious with everything one may need. Breakfast was varied and catered for most tastes.

Delicious food and amazing restaurant staff - perfect beach location too.

Perfect location to walk to the seafront. The hotel is very old but housekeeping do an amazing job keeping it clean and maintained. Chef's food was delicious. Gabby in hospitality gave great customer service, above and beyond, and she is asset to the hotel. I hope they appreciate her. Clean and comfortable room. Overall a very enjoyable stay.

Only half enjoyed.

Excellent food, plenty of choice and very good service.

Steps to bathroom, unexpected and not notified in advance, with no grab handle set on the wall, metal prongs sticking out of end of beds very dangerous, hair dryer unusable due to being wired in without a 13 amp plug (? Never inspected), door lock plate sticking out and in need of a screw. Toilet seat moves, toilet roll holder placed out of easy reach. A very poor room altogether.

The hotel is comfortable in a great location but not worth the money paid

Location was excellent, a few minutes from the sea front.

Rooms were very dated apart from the bathroom which was small but quite modern, 1 socket for the entire room, bed valance ripped. Bar staff not knowledgeable when asked for a drink from their drinks list. Waited over an hour for breakfast with no apology.
